Minneapolis Public Schools in the Crosshairs for Discriminating Against White People

The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division has filed a federal lawsuit against Minneapolis Public Schools, alleging the district engaged in unlawful racial discrimination in its hiring and employment practices, according to an exchange between Carl Higbie and Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon.
During the discussion, Higbie outlined the allegations at the center of the lawsuit, which targets staffing goals and programs within Minneapolis Public Schools that the Justice Department says violate federal employment discrimination laws.
“It should come as no surprise, though, that Tim waltz would complain that the Vice President was comfortable in his own melanin content, considering the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, led by Harmeet Dhillon, is now suing Minneapolis Public Schools for racial discrimination against teachers,” Higbie said.
Higbie said the lawsuit focuses on explicit racial targets adopted by the district.
“Now the lawsuit noting that MPs the public schools seeks to increase their BIPOC staffing to at least 40% by 2026 and that by 2026 and 27 at least by 54.3% of new teachers that identify as bipoc,” he said.
He also highlighted allegations that Minneapolis Public Schools offered race-specific benefits unavailable to other teachers.
“The suit also alleges that MPs, the public school system, awards black men teacher fellowships, additional benefits not available to female or non black teachers,” Higbie said.
