A Canadian university has bypassed its student center and allowed a Conservative MP to hold an event about jobs and unemployment and other topics, which was previously sidelined for no apparent reason.

On X Wednesday, pro-life Garnett Genuis, a father of five and an Alberta MP of the Conservative Party, shared the “Good News” as he called it.

“Good News. After the challenges we experienced with the student centre at York two weeks ago, the university’s administration stepped up to let us speak to students within a public space that they control,” he wrote.

“Thank you to the university for making this happen. I look forward to speaking to York students tomorrow about jobs, homes, and hope.”

According to Real Agriculture, multiple social media posts claimed AAFC's Lacombe Research and Development Centre at Lacombe, AB, and the Nappan Experimental Farm/AAFC Nappan Research Farm in Cumberland County, NS, are going to be closing.

The Food Professor, or Sylvain Charlebois, who runs an agri-food analytics lab at Dalhousie University, wrote on X these were not the only two — and more major centres were expected to close.

Burnaby RCMP and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) are investigating a targeted shooting that claimed the life of a 28-year-old man Wednesday evening.

The victim has been identified as Dilraj Singh Gill, of Vancouver.

Police responded just before 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, to reports of shots fired near the 3700 block of Canada Way.

Gill was found at the scene and, despite life-saving efforts, did not survive.

Shortly afterward, officers discovered a vehicle ablaze on Buxton St., which investigators say is connected to the homicide.

The man, Arthur Galarneau, was 19 years old when he was charged with three counts of second-degree murder after Montreal police responded to a 9-1-1 call made on March 17, 2023, by Galarneau’s mother and found the three individuals had been stabbed to death.

Quebec Superior Court Justice Annie Emond said she agreed with a joint submission from the Crown and defence that was presented during a two-day trial in December 2025.

At the time of the incident, Galarneau was suffering from schizophrenia and his condition included delusions, hallucinations, and psychotic symptoms. Psychiatrists recommended that he be found not criminally responsible. Continue…

Brodie and her supporters, who have challenged accounts of mass unmarked graves at residential schools, were met by a large group of protesters who were shouting and waving signs.

Videos of the crowd posted to social media show the protesters yelling “genocide,” and “OneBC off our campus.”

Brodie said in a social media video that the event generally “went really well,” but said that she was later assaulted several times by a “mob.”

She visited the campus alongside OneBC candidate Jim McMurtry and former Mount Royal University professor Frances Widdowson, who was shown in a social media video being lifted and carried away by three RCMP officers. The weather agency has announced orange weather alerts for the entirety of Saskatchewan and Manitoba and the majority of northern Ontario. Orange alerts are issued when severe weather is expected to result in considerable damage, disruption, or health consequences. The impacts can be significant, extensive, and can persist for several days.

Individuals residing in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and northwestern Ontario should anticipate wind-chill temperatures ranging from minus 45 degrees Celsius to minus 50 degrees Celsius prior to a gradual warming trend this weekend.

The remainder of Ontario and the majority of Quebec will also be frigid as an Arctic airmass remains over the area. Environment Canada issued yellow alerts for the area, which means the effects are expected to be moderate, localized, and/or of a short duration.

Toronto can expect “bitterly cold conditions” beginning this evening with wind chill values as low as minus 33 degrees Celsius continuing into the following morning, according to the forecast. Ottawa and Quebec City are both expected to be even colder, with wind chills as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius.
