Realize there have always been families who disowned each other (movie star sisters, Olivia de Haviland & Joan Fontaine, were quite famous for it).
What's weird is, can not think of one single family, whether related or not, who hasn't had a child (especially) and/or siblings who completely disown them, permanently. It's not even about political difference.
Does ''anyone know a parent whose children haven't disowned them? Siblings are even worse. Incredibly - drugs, politics or even divorce'' aren't even factors in these cases. One couple is still married 35 years and two of their kids have nothing to do with them. They don't see their grandchildren…
Sometime in the "Me Generation" (which anon happens to be, Gen x)1980s, it appeared people were becoming "disposable" because buying shit and what strangers thought were worth so much more - even before fakebook would put the final nail in the coffin of Human Interaction.
It DOES, however, have MUCH to do with location, as have lived in other regions where it wasn't the "norm". Nasty place to begin with. Have long maintained that there's something in the water…
