Regulus — the Red Star
Astronomy / Myth: Regulus is the “Heart of the Lion,” the royal star of Leo. Across Babylonian, Persian, Greek, and medieval traditions it signified kingship, sovereignty, and divine mandate.
Color (Red): Blood, life-force, sacrifice, war, and vitality. Red stars often carry a martial or solar authority—power that must be wielded correctly or it turns destructive.
Moral Myth: Regulus grants rise, honor, and visibility—but only so long as hubris is avoided. The fall of kings is its shadow theme.
Core meaning: Legitimate power tested by integrity.
The Sphinx
Egyptian Context: Guardian of sacred thresholds. The Sphinx is not merely a riddle-giver but a liminal being—half animal, half divine intelligence.
Symbolism:
Lion body: Solar power, royalty, instinct
Human head: Consciousness, wisdom, rulership
Function: Protector of cosmic order (Ma’at). It does not attack—it waits, judging worthiness.
Core meaning: Initiation through wisdom; power restrained by knowledge.
Egypt
Mythic Role: Egypt represents cosmic alignment—heaven mirrored on earth. Pharaohs ruled by synchronizing with stars (especially Leo-era constellations).
Star Lore: The Great Sphinx is aligned with Leo and the rising sun, linking it symbolically to Regulus.
Spiritual Theme: Eternal continuity, resurrection, remembrance beyond time.
Core meaning: Civilization as a sacred contract between humanity and the cosmos.
