At the beginning of 2026, it is still the Year of the Snake. The Year of the Fire Horse begins on Feb. 17, 2026, and ends on Feb. 5, 2027.

Coincidentally, the Year of the Fire Horse begins and ends with a “ring of fire” annular solar eclipse, in Antarctica in 2026 and in South America and West Africa in 2027.

The moon determines the dates of the Chinese New Year. A lunar festival, it begins with the New Moon on Feb. 17, 2026.

The festival itself is 16 days long, ending with the Lantern Festival on the date of the next full moon – the Worm Moon on Mar. 3, 2026. It will also be a “blood moon” total lunar eclipse.

Stewart, a United States Air Force Reserve officer and renowned actor, flew his last combat mission over Vietnam.
