The timing of the video is curious as it came out just as Israel was the first country to recognize Somaliland as an independent country. In exchange, Israel gains a strategic military base and the possibility of relocating Palestinian people to the region.

Venezuela: Will the Capture of Maduro Save the US Petrodollar?
Ricardo, a commenter on the X/ Twitter platform, received 3 million views on his explanation of why the US dollar is the reason for Trump’s overthrow of Venezuelan President Maduro: the US economy is based on the US ‘petrodollar’. In 2018, Venezuela announced it would “free itself from the dollar” and it started accepting yuan, euros, rubles, anything BUT dollars for oil. The petrodollar is dying as BRICS countries are trading in other currencies.
China is Venezuela’s biggest oil customer. China built CIPS, their own alternative to SWIFT with 4,800 banks in 185 countries to trade outside of the US dollar.
The attack on Maduro is an admission that the US dollar can no longer compete on its own merits. When you have to bomb countries to keep them using your currency, the currency is already dying.

Pushback of the Week: Slovenia Protects Cash
Slovenia passed a constitutional amendment to protect cash as legal tender on December 1. Slovenian citizens, not politicians, got the cash ball rolling with a social media campaign and grassroots petition in 2023 that forced the hand of legislators.
Although the Slovenia Times warned on May 23, 2025 that success was “by no means certain” and that “Constitutional amendments take a long time to process,” the amendment was a done deal a mere six months later.
MPs cited a variety of reasons for their support of cash payments as a “fundamental right,” including autonomy, privacy, and reliability during emergencies. The massive power outages in Spain and Portugal in April—which “highlighted the vulnerability of modern payment systems, where tapping and swiping predominate”—may have been fresh on some legislators’ minds.
