NEW: Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, one day after announcing he would not seek re-election in 2026, rejected calls from Republican state lawmakers to resign amid a major welfare fraud scandal.
“I’m not going anywhere. Over my dead body will that happen,” Walz told reporters.
The governor faces criticism from both parties over the handling of alleged fraud in state programs, potentially involving billions in losses, particularly in Somali-operated child care and Medicaid services.
