"Donroe Doctrine" to clean up the Western Hemisphere was busy Wednesday morning, with the seizure of the Russian-flagged oil tanker Marinera (formerly Bella 1) in the North Atlantic, followed by U.S. forces seizing a stateless dark-fleet tanker in the Caribbean region.

The seizure of Marinera is the headliner this morning, given that Russian warships and a submarine are nearby, raising the risk that the situation could spiral out of control after Moscow warned the Trump administration in recent days to back off the tanker.

Within the last hour, U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) wrote on X that U.S. forces "apprehended a stateless, sanctioned dark-fleet motor tanker without incident." SOUTHCOM said, "The interdicted vessel, M/T Sophia, was operating in international waters and conducting illicit activities in the Caribbean Sea. The U.S. Coast Guard is escorting M/T Sophia to the U.S. for final disposition."

SOUTHCOM concluded the post by signaling the Donroe Doctrine: "Through Operation Southern Spear, the Department of War is unwavering in its mission to crush illicit activity in the Western Hemisphere. We will defend our Homeland and restore security and strength across the Americas."

UK and France unveil troop commitments for Ukraine

Moscow has warned that any Western forces in the neighboring country will be treated as “legitimate targets”

The leaders of the UK and France have announced that they’ve agreed to deploy forces in Ukraine if Kiev reaches a peace deal with Russia, despite Moscow categorically ruling out the presence of NATO forces in the country under any pretext.

The agreement was unveiled on Tuesday at a meeting of the so-called ‘coalition of the willing’ group in Paris. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the three countries had signed a “Declaration of Intent” on deploying forces “in the event of a peace deal.” He called the agreement “a vital part of our iron-cast commitment,” while asserting it would create a legal framework for British, French, and partner forces to operate on Ukrainian soil.

Starmer said that “following a ceasefire,” Britain and France would establish “military hubs” throughout Ukraine and build protected facilities for weapons and equipment, while also joining US-led monitoring of the truce.

French President Emmanuel Macron described the proposed contingent as a non-combat force consisting of “potentially thousands” of troops, while stressing they would be stationed “a long way behind the contact line.”

However, neither Starmer, nor Macron, nor Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky cited exact troop numbers, deployment locations, or timelines.

Meanwhile, Zelensky claimed Ukraine had had “very substantive discussions” with the American team on the issue. “America is ready to work on this,” he said, adding that the sides have made progress on documents concerning security guarantees.

US envoy Steve Witkoff, who also attended the Paris talks, did not confirm a US commitment to deploy troops, but spoke of tough “security protocols” meant to deter attacks on Ukraine.

Russia has repeatedly opposed foreign troop presence in Ukraine, warning that these forces would be treated as “legitimate targets.” Moscow has also said that Ukraine’s ambition to join NATO and host the military alliance’s troops was one of the key reasons for the conflict in the country

Education Dept's new tool shows foreign funding to US universities: China, Qatar spend the most

Early in his second term, Trump directed the Education and Justice Departments to enforce federal laws surrounding the disclosure of foreign funding on U.S. campuses after what he viewed as lax enforcement during the Biden administration.

With a new tool publicizing foreign funding to U.S. universities, the Trump administration has fulfilled an early promise to end secrecy around contributions from other governments and to ramp up public scrutiny of such contributions.

The data show that the top ten contributors provided nearly $63 billion in foreign funding to higher education institutions. Several of these governments are close U.S. allies and partners, including the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan.

Problematic contributions

Contributions from other governments, including the Middle Eastern monarchy of Qatar and China — through the mainland and Hong Kong governments — have each raised significant concerns in the past about how these governments may be influencing public opinion through their contributions or seeking to transfer sensitive research.

In a late April executive order, President Donald Trump promised to “end the secrecy” in foreign funding to U.S. colleges and universities, ending what the administration viewed as a lax approach by its predecessor.

Database now details foreign government contributions and their U.S. university recipients

Trump said in the order that “it is the policy of my Administration to end the secrecy surrounding foreign funds in American educational institutions, protect the marketplace of ideas from propaganda sponsored by foreign governments, and safeguard America’s students and research from foreign exploitation.”

The president ordered Education Secretary Linda McMahon and Attorney General Pam Bondi to enforce the federal laws surrounding the disclosure of foreign funding on U.S. campuses after Biden Education Secretary Miguel Cardona de-prioritized the issue over the previous four years, as Just the News previously reported.

The new Department of Education database fulfills the first part of that two-part promise. Released on Monday, the database gives a breakdown of the foreign government contributions and U.S. university recipients.

With $62.4 billion in total contributions, the top four contributors include the Emirate of Qatar, which has spent $6.6 billion, Germany, which has spent $4.4 billion, the United Kingdom, which has spent $4.3 billion, and China, which has spent $4.1 billion.

When the $1.9 billion in contributions from Chinese-controlled Hong Kong is added, China jumps to the second-place contributor at a total of $6 billion.

Under Section 117 of the Higher Education Act of 1965, universities are required to disclose “any gifts from and contracts with a foreign source that, alone or combined, are valued at $250,000 or more in a calendar year,” per the Department of Education.

The law went largely unenforced for years until the first Trump administration forced numerous institutions to amend their disclosures, Just the News previously reported.

Israeli FM Travels To Somaliland In First, Unprecedented Visit Since Recognition

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar visited the Republic of Somaliland on Tuesday and is meeting the breakaway state's president, according to multiple media reports. Reuters cited sources as saying that Saar is currently in Somaliland and will meet the president of the state, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, in the capital Hargeisa.

Somaliland media reports also confirmed the Israeli foreign minister’s visit. The Israeli Foreign Ministry did not respond to requests for comment. According to Somaliland’s Information Ministry, Saar was received by senior Somaliland officials at the airport. Last month, Israel became the first state to formally recognize Somaliland, which broke away from Somalia in 1991 but had never been recognized by any UN member state.

Somali officials and several Arab, Islamic, and African states have condemned the Israeli move – which was rejected by most members of the UN Security Council at an emergency meeting in New York.

The Israeli government has been aiming for Somaliland to serve as a potential destination for Palestinians that Tel Aviv aims to forcibly displace from Gaza, according to multiple reports over the past year.

Somalia’s president said in a recent interview that Israel has demanded from Somaliland, as part of its terms, that the breakaway state receive displaced Palestinians from Gaza and allow the establishment of Israeli military sites. He added that intelligence confirms Somaliland accepted these terms.

"The Government of the Republic of Somaliland firmly rejects false claims made by the president of Somalia alleging the resettlement of Palestinians or the establishment of military bases in Somaliland," Somaliland's Foreign Ministry said in a statement in response.

"Somaliland's engagement with the State of Israel is purely diplomatic, conducted in full respect of international law and the mutual sovereign interests of both countries," it added.

The Department of Justice announced the arrest of Christian Sturdivant for planning a New Year’s Eve attack on a grocery store with knives and hammers. The official story claims authorities stopped a self-radicalized ISIS supporter.

The DOJ’s claim that Sturdivant ‘self-radicalized online’ directly contradicts their own criminal complaint. Records show he was in communication with two undercover FBI agents posing as ISIS members. He discussed his plans with the FBI agent. The entire plot developed under the guidance of the very people claiming to have stopped it.

This is not ‘self-radicalization’; it is direct influence and grooming by federal agents. The FBI was not a passive observer; they were active participants and mentors in the ‘plot,’ a fact that demolishes the official narrative.

Manufacturing a ‘Terrorist’

The FBI appears to have taken a troubled, impressionable young man and molded him into the ‘terrorist’ they needed him to be. His own family, concerned for his well-being, hid the knives and hammers from him.

The FBI, instead of seeking mental health intervention for a vulnerable individual, saw an opportunity. Sturdivant faces charges of ‘attempting to provide material support to ISIS,’ a charge that carries a 20-year maximum sentence. This severe penalty applies to what amounts to online chats with FBI agents and a handwritten note. He never acquired a firearm. His ‘weapons’ were household tools his family tried to keep from him.
