US military breached UN maritime convention – Russia

The Russian Transport Ministry has confirmed that the oil tanker ‘Marinera’ has been captured by the US military.
Earlier on Wednesday, the US European Command announced having taken possession of the ship, previously named the ‘Bella 1’, for alleged “violation of US sanctions.”
The tanker was boarded by US military personnel “in the high seas outside the territorial waters of any state,” and that “contact with the vessel was lost,” the Russian Transport Ministry has said.
“On December 24, 2025, the Marinera received a temporary permit to fly the Russian flag, issued in accordance with Russian and international law,” the ministry stated, adding that the attack on the vessel came in violation of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, which ensures freedom of navigation in international waters.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said it has been “closely monitoring” the situation around the tanker.
Russian nationals are believed to be among the crew of the vessel, the ministry noted, urging the US to ensure “humane and dignified treatment” of the captured sailors and to “allow them to return home as quickly as possible.”
The tanker was first targeted by the US late last year after reportedly trying to approach Venezuela.
At the time, the US Coast Guard attempted to board it, yet the crew refused to let anyone on board and turned around and headed for the Atlantic instead. During the pursuit, the vessel changed its name and switched to the Russian flag.

Ukraine confirms strike on Russian fuel depot in Belgorod, hits military warehouse in occupied Donetsk

Ukraine's General Staff has confirmed that Ukrainian forces struck a fuel depot in Russia's Belgorod Oblast and a logistics warehouse in occupied Donetsk Oblast overnight on Jan. 7, according to a statement published on Telegram.
The Oskolneftesnab depot, located near the village of Kotel, sustained direct hits to its fuel tanks, triggering a large fire, the General Staff said.
"The oil depot is involved in providing fuel to the occupying army," it added.
Russian officials and local residents reported the incident earlier in the day, saying a fire broke out at the Stary Oskol oil depot following a Ukrainian drone attack.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov claimed several tanks caught fire and that there were no casualties. Videos of the fire were widely shared on Russian social media on the night of Jan. 6.
In the same operation, Ukrainian forces also hit a logistics warehouse used by Russia’s 20th Motorized Rifle Division on temporarily occupied territory in Donetsk Oblast.
"This strike aimed to disrupt enemy logistics," the General Staff said, adding that the scale of the damage on both sites is still being assessed.
In the same report, the General Staff also revealed new details about a New Year's Ukrainian strike on Russia's "Temp" strategic fuel depot in Yaroslavl Oblast. Two large vertical fuel tanks (RVS-5000) were damaged during the earlier attacks, it said.
According to the General Staff, the Temp oil base is "involved in the storage, receipt, release, and accounting of strategic reserves, including petroleum products."
These strikes are part of Ukraine's ongoing efforts to undermine Russia's military and economic capabilities.
"The Defense Forces continue to take measures to erode the offensive and military-economic potential of the Russian occupiers and to compel Russia to end its armed aggression against Ukraine," the General Staff said.

IDF chief says retooled army building strategy to prepare for ‘surprise war’

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said Tuesday that the military was building a new strategy centered on the event of a “surprise war,” like the one brought on by the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack.
Speaking at the “Leaders on the Home Front” conference, which spotlighted the role of civilian resilience and local authorities in enabling the military’s operations, Zamir noted lessons learned from October 7, saying, “We have made changes to readiness, to orders” and “addressed operational gaps.”
He added that “there will be no more containment,” vowing that Israel will not allow “terror organizations or proxies to entrench themselves along our borders.”
Zamir’s remarks came a week after Central Command head Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth also warned the Israel Defense Forces must be ready for “a surprise war,” declaring that the military must “maintain a high level of preparedness and alertness.”
Neither of the generals gave details on what prompted their warnings about a potential surprise war, though they followed Zamir’s recent comments hinting about another potential war with Iran, as well as the intensifying exchange of threats between the United States and Islamic Republic.
The conference Zamir addressed Tuesday was also attended by Defense Minister Israel Katz, senior defense officials, emergency and rescue organizations, and heads of local authorities, the latter of whose role he emphasized.
“The most important and essential cornerstone is the local authority: Your ability to function in emergency situations has an impact on our ability in the IDF to function,” Zamir said.
He praised the cooperation between local authorities and the IDF during recent conflicts, including the war with Iran last June, saying, “Your work on the home front enables the IDF to have the quiet it needs to do what must be done, where it must be done.”
Home Front Command chief Maj. Gen. Shai Klepper described Israel’s civilians as “the strongest in the world.” He added that “partnership… is how we will be able to save lives.”

Separately Tuesday, Hebrew media outlets reported that Israel Aerospace Industries completed a series of demonstrations showcasing a new, integrated border defense system designed to address threats along Israel’s borders in both routine and emergency scenarios.
The system combines real-time intelligence gathered from a wide range of sensors, platforms and domains — land, air, sea and space — into a unified operational picture. This integration facilitates rapid responses to detected threats, with certain capabilities operating autonomously.
The demonstrations featured IAI’s comprehensive solution, which included an advanced mix of electro-optical systems, radars, autonomous vehicles, drones and UAVs, all of which demonstrated their effectiveness against a variety of threats in the operational scenario.

Unidentified drone strikes suspected at Aden presidential palace add further uncertainty to situation in southern Yemen

Tensions escalated in the southern Yemeni city of Aden on Tuesday (January 6) after an unidentified drone flew over the presidential palace in al-Maashiq and appeared to fire on the facility.
Local officials confirmed the incident but did not disclose the origin or number of the drone, nor did they confirm whether it had been shot down.
According to Reuters, Aden and its surrounding areas are currently controlled by the Southern Transitional Council (STC), which is backed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE). STC leader Aidarous al-Zubaidi resides in the building, but his whereabouts are currently unknown.
This incident comes as Gulf parties are working to de-escalate the conflict between UAE-backed southern separatists and the Saudi-backed, internationally recognized government.
The conflict, which erupted last month and has escalated rapidly recently, has torn apart the strategic alliance formed to combat the Houthi rebels in Yemen and is impacting the situation in southern Yemen.
It is understood that the Houthi rebels remain the strongest military force in Yemen. The group seized the capital, Sana'a, in 2014, prompting Gulf states to intervene militarily the following year, leading to Yemen's fragmentation into several factions controlled by different groups.
Aden has long been the main center of power outside of Houthi-controlled areas, but after the STC seized control of Aden last month, the international community acknowledged that the government leadership had withdrawn to Saudi Arabia.
Internationally, it has been acknowledged that Yemeni government forces, with Saudi air support, recaptured the strategically important eastern provinces of Hadramawt and Mahara on Friday (2nd) and Saturday (3rd), altering the course of the conflict once again.
However, the Yemeni government recently requested Riyadh to host a forum to help resolve the "southern problem," and Saudi Arabia subsequently extended invitations to various factions in the south. It is rumored that Zubaidi has agreed to attend.

MUFON Presentation Revealed First Authenticated UFO Contacts by They Fly Productions

The formerly tabloid topic of UFOs is now making headlines worldwide, attracting Harvard scientists, military whistleblowers, and is the subject of frequent US government hearings.
For almost 60 years, the MUFON organization has researched reports and sightings of UFOs but without finding conclusive, independently authenticated, scientific proof of extraterrestrials, until now.
At his recent presentation for MUFON, in Sedona, Arizona, UFO expert and science researcher for 47 years, Michael Horn, showed dozens of still irreproducible, pre-digital, 35 mm UFO photos and an 8mm video of a spacecraft – now confirmed by independent scientific experts to be extraterrestrial in origin.
Horn showed an example of a state-of-the art analysis of one of the photos that revealed never-before seen details that authenticated the UFO.
The clear and often close-up photos, including some of multiple craft – and two claimed to be from within a UFO above the Swiss countryside – were taken by Billy Meier, a reclusive Swiss man, and represented a small sampling of 617 of his remaining photos, which once numbered over 1,200.
The photographic evidence was followed by documentation of what Horn referred to as an even "higher standard of proof", i.e. information that would have required a technology still relegated to the realm of science fiction.
Such information has been the subject of several episodes on Redacted, hosted by former News anchor, Clayton Morris, who pointed out that Meier has frequently published "verifiable, copyrighted material" on major international news stories – before the events occurred – which would require…time travel.
Horn showed video clips of Morris, including where he showed that – in 1987 – Meier predicted coming conflicts at the North Pole between the US and Russia, and in 2017 warned about America's "secret plans to attack Russia from Germany", both of which were recently confirmed and – verifiably – published decades ago.
Additionally, Meier's predictions, such as those from 1958 and 1987, specifically foretelling AI and the dangers it poses to humankind, are now being echoed by scientists.
Horn said he has made all the documentation, including over 250 of Meier's predictions and the UFO evidence, freely available on his blog so that, like MUFON, everyone interested can determine the truth for themselves.

For decades, the UK’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) collected and analysed masses of reports about UFO sightings. Though the MoD has since closed its UFO desk and released files about its findings, many Brits believe in a government cover-up of UFO information.
What UK politicians do know about UFOs might even have spread to the royal family. Sky HISTORY’s investigates the monarchy’s longstanding interest in UFOs and what it could mean for our future understanding of the universe.
A UFO lands on Lord Mountbatten’s estate
Mark Christopher Lee has filmed his own intriguing documentary, The King of UFOs, looking into what British royals evidently know about the UFO phenomenon.
Lee hasn’t just focused on the current generation of royals, either. He points out that Queen Victoria’s Prince Albert wrote a diary entry about noticing strange, inexplicable lights in the sky.
However, the seeds of the current royals’ interest might have been sown by an especially peculiar UFO descending upon a royal estate in 1955.
The estate in question, Broadlands in Hampshire, belonged to Prince Philip’s uncle Lord Mountbatten at the time. Though labourer Fred Briggs was actually the one who originally reported the sighting, it is thought that Mountbatten later relayed the story to his nephew.
Prince Philip’s secretive interest in UFOs
Was the Mountbatten UFO tale the initial spark for Prince Philip’s keen interest in extraterrestrial matters? Either way, it’s a passion that largely went unnoticed until after Queen Elizabeth II’s spouse passed away in April 2021.
According to former MoD employee Nick Pope, Philip subscribed to various UFO-themed periodicals, including Flying Saucer Review. He also asked an equerry, Sir Peter Horsley, to report back to him with accounts of purported alien encounters.
Pope acknowledges that Philip had especially good reason to keep these activities hush-hush. His open-mindedness contrasted with the UK Government’s stance that UFO sightings did not hold any major implications for British national security.
Did Prince Philip plan to meet an alien?
This is another story you might have heard on the grapevine. Again, Horsley came into play here, conversing with a mysterious, supposedly extraterrestrial entity called ‘Janus’ who professed to wanting to meet Prince Philip.
According to Lee, Horsley met Janus in a Chelsea flat in 1954. Reportedly, the purported alien ‘had an ethereal otherworldly quality’ and could ‘extract information about flying saucers,’ Lee told Metro.co.uk.
On reflection, Janus now seems likely to have been a Russian spy looking to get close to Prince Philip for nefarious reasons. Philip himself turned down the opportunity to meet Janus, aware of the scandal that could otherwise result.
Was a royal spotted flying a prototype UFO?
In The King of UFOs, Lee interviews Dan Costello, who claims to have seen a British royal piloting an apparent prototype aircraft in 1975. The royal in question was the future King Charles III, with the alleged sighting occurring in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.
According to Costello, the craft had helicopter-style dual rotor blades, but could hover in the sky without them whirring. There was also ‘no sound of propulsion, just a faint crackle of electromagnetism’.
Queen Elizabeth II was fascinated by the Rendlesham incident
The Rendlesham UFO incident has been dubbed ‘Britain’s Roswell’. It occurred in December 1980, when servicemen stationed near Rendlesham Forest were convinced they saw otherworldly lights dancing above the trees.
In The King of UFOs, former CID detective John Hanson recalls Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip corresponding with him about the incident. Hanson had previously co-written books with Colonel Charles Halt, one of the key witnesses at Rendlesham.
The late Queen’s curiosity about crop circles
These days, crop circles aren’t always seen as mysterious. In fact, many of them are now attributed to human pranksters without a second thought.
It was a very different situation in the 1980s, when a spate of elaborate-looking crop circles popped up in fields across the UK. Had these imprints been left by aliens? One person apparently keen to find out was Queen Elizabeth II.
She even once sent her chief scientific advisor out to inspect a crop circle in Wiltshire. Researcher Colin Andrews was already at the site, having got word that the Queen was intrigued by this particular circle’s formation.

Rep. Burchett to Newsmax: Government Lying About UFOs

Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., told Newsmax on Tuesday he continues to believe the government is hiding the truth about UFOs.
Burchett appeared on "Finnerty" along with Dr. Steven Greer, the researcher and founder of the Disclosure Project, to discuss the report of mummified remains found in Peru.
The mummies are about 3 feet tall with three fingers and three toes, and nobody has been able to explain what they are.
Greer and Burchett have both been fighting for more openness from Washington about the phenomenon of UFOs.
"I think they are," Burchett said when asked whether the government is lying about UFOs.
He noted anyone who was around for Roswell — where theories persist that the government recovered a crashed alien spacecraft — is dead.
He said many defense contractors that make missile defense systems and might have information that won't be transparent.
"We can't go to them and say, 'Give me your records,'" Burchett said. "It's not like it's a government agency. It's very difficult to get that information."
Greer said they went to Mexico City to test one of the mummies and found the metallurgy to be unusual.
"It doesn't match any known modern human metallurgy," Greer said.
"And around the center of this sphere, there was organic resin that we carbon-dated to literally 25,000 years ago," he said.
Burchett said he believes President Donald Trump wants to disclose top secret information about UFOs.
"The war pimps at the Pentagon have his ear, and they're going to try to fold this into anything else but giving us disclosure," he said.
"We've got excellent testimony," Burchett added. "We've got professionals, we've got legislators, we've got eyewitnesses, we've got photos.
"We've got to have the man at the top come out and say, 'We're going to release this stuff immediately and not wait for Washington to hold a bunch of dadgum hearings,'" he continued.

The Sedona chapter of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) is proud to announce a special event featuring acclaimed documentary Sedona filmmaker Paul Davids, who will present a screening of his 1997 documentary, UFO / UAP Briefing for America’s Rocket Pioneers.
