Barbara’s Grandmother is definitely a McCarthy – born Elizabeth McCarthy, as above. Can’t find the link to Joe McCarthy (born 19th Nov 1908) family, working backward through obituaries and newspaper articles. Joe had 8 brothers and sisters and only one adopted child, but the name McCarthy alone may be why Barbara’s family history is scrubbed online, even if they are not directly related, the name would be enough for some to tarnish her as related to the “witchhunter”
