Love brings people closer to God (real love, not what humans think love is). Suffering is material. The material world is an error. The God of this world (at least in the Bible, Koran, Bhagavad-Gita) kills tons of people. Why? Because they didn´t obey his orders? Why not killing those who deceive all of humanity?
Suffering is evil and it brings one to something that thinks it is God!

I did not talk about physical suffering.
„It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.“
But if you want to talk about physical suffering. It is unnecessary! Because I believe the material world is an error, created by a being who is blind and arrogant. And therefore he creates suffering. The real God, thr Monad does not need suffering to bring someone closer to him. All what is happening here in this realm is evil. But the divine spark is figthing that. Will he win? It depends. I personally am convinced that I am from the pleroma and that I will go back there when this life is over! At the moment, I am in a mirror dimension, imperfect and full of decay. Nothing what God would ever create!
