Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is calling on Germany to end what he described as unjust prosecutions of German doctors for granting patients exemptions from mask and vaccine requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’ve learned that more than a thousand German physicians and thousands of their patients now face prosecution and punishment for issuing exemptions from wearing their masks or getting COVID-19 vaccines during the pandemic,” Kennedy said in a video on X on Jan. 11.

Viral reporting from independent journalist Nick Shirley and others highlighted the prominence of allegedly fake day care centers in the city that received public funds.

Those revelations, and other fraud schemes, prompted a crackdown by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the area that has led to clashes with the local community.

US to end temporary protected status for Somalis in US, Fox News reports

Jan 13 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump's administration is ending temporary protected status for thousands of Somalis in the United States, Fox News reported on ‌Tuesday, requiring them to leave by March 17.

"Country conditions in Somalia have ‌improved to the point that it no longer meets the law’s requirement for Temporary Protected Status," the report cited Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem as saying. Representatives for DHS ⁠could not be immediately ‌reached to confirm the report.

Trump in November said he was immediately terminating temporary deportation protections ‍for Somalis living in Minnesota, accelerating the end of a program that began in 1991 under former Republican President George H.W. Bush.

Facing Contempt Threat, Clintons Refuse to Testify in Epstein Inquiry

Bill and Hillary Clinton refused on Tuesday to testify in the House’s Jeffrey Epstein investigation, escalating a monthslong battle with Representative James R. Comer, Republican of Kentucky, and effectively daring him to follow through on his threats to hold them in contempt of Congress.

“Every person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences,” the Clintons wrote in a lengthy letter to Mr. Comer, which was obtained by The New York Times. “For us, now is that time.”

Mr. Comer’s relentless efforts to force them to testify reflect his overall approach to his panel’s Epstein inquiry. As the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Mr. Comer has sought to shift the focus from President Trump’s ties to the convicted sex offender and his administration’s decision to close its investigation into the matter without releasing key information. Instead, he has sought to shift the spotlight onto prominent Democrats who once associated with Mr. Epstein and his longtime companion Ghislaine Maxwell.
