Michael Landon (39 at the time) had an affair on set with an 18 yr old stand-in for one of the girls, not Melissa Gilbert who was 15 at the time.
Landon divorced his wife and married his much younger lover (20 years his junior) - and was still married to her when he died at 54 yrs old of pancreatic cancer. He was survived by 9 children, several with each of his 3 wives.

Gilbert was criticizing Megyn Kelly some weeks ago because Kelly queried whether Epstein was really a pedophile, just because he preferred young, barely-legal, girls. Gilbert said that she looked up pictures of herself at the time of her scripted relationship with a much older man (than she was) and she couldn't believe how young she was when she was put in that position.

Then, unfortunately for her, the news hit a few days ago about U.S. Marshalls joining in the search for her husband of a decade or so, Timothy Busfield, to serve an arrest warrant regarding child sex abuse charges from days gone by on his various sets as an actor and a director.
