James Webb Space Telescope Solves a Cosmic Mystery by Revealing the True Identity of Mysterious “Little Red Dots” in Deep Space
January 16, 2026
One of the earliest mysteries uncovered by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) involved what astronomers call “little red dots,” and now University of Copenhagen researchers say they finally know the truth about these cosmic enigmas.
The mystery of the little red dots has intrigued astronomers since the James Webb Space Telescope began collecting data about the cosmos in the summer of 2022.
Observing light that has traveled immense distances, researchers detected strange, compact red objects appearing just a few million years after the universe formed—only to disappear roughly a billion years later.
Their nature quickly became the subject of debate.
Now, it turns out that these enigmatic little red dots are young black holes encased in cocoons of ionized gas.
The discovery was reported in a recent paper published in Nature, which addresses one of the major questions posed by JWST imagery.
James Webb Space Telescope Sees Little Red Dots
One hypothesis about these peculiar astronomical objects proposed that the little red dots were massive galaxies, but such complex structures should not have formed so early in cosmic history.
It took researchers at the Niels Bohr Institute’s Cosmic Dawn Centre two years of analysis to determine that the objects were, instead, black holes.
“The little red dots are young black holes, a hundred times less massive than previously believed, enshrouded in a cocoon of gas, which they are consuming in order to grow larger,” said co-author Professor Darach Watson.
“This process generates enormous heat, which shines through the cocoon. This radiation through the cocoon is what gives little red dots their unique red colour.”
‘“They are far less massive than people previously believed, so we do not need to invoke completely new types of events to explain them,” Watson added.
Understanding the Little Red Dots
Since their discovery in late 2021, astronomers have catalogued hundreds of little red dots throughout the universe.
These objects are not supermassive black holes of the kind that anchor mature galaxies—a scenario that posed challenges for earlier interpretations.
To match the data, such central black holes would have needed to be unrealistically massive compared to their host galaxies.
Instead, the research team found that the objects are orders of magnitude smaller, with masses of around 10 million solar masses and diameters of roughly 10 million kilometers.
They are embedded within dense clouds of ionized gas, which both fuel their growth and shape their observed appearance.
Black holes are indiscriminate consumers, swallowing nearby material to fuel their expansion. As gas falls inward, it can generate some of the most powerful energy outputs known to science.
Near the event horizon, infalling matter reaches extreme temperatures, producing intense radiation that can eject much of the material before it is fully consumed.
“When gas falls towards a black hole, it spirals down into a kind of disk or funnel towards [the] surface of the black hole,” Watson explained.
“It ends up going so fast and is squeezed so densely that it generates temperatures of millions of degrees and lights up brightly. But only a very small amount of the gas is swallowed by the black hole.
Most of it is blown back out from the poles as the black hole rotates. That’s why we call black holes ‘messy eaters’.”
Black Hole Research Continues
While the riddle of the little red dots may be solved, black holes themselves still hold considerable mystery for scientists.
The four-million-solar-mass black hole at the center of the Milky Way and others like it, which similarly anchor their host galaxies, continue to fascinate astronomers.
“We have captured the young black holes in the middle of their growth spurt at a stage that we have not observed before,” Watson said. “The dense cocoon of gas around them provides the fuel they need to grow very quickly.”
Yet the discovery raises new questions. Black holes of this size should not have existed so early in the universe’s history, prompting astronomers to continue investigating how these cosmic growth spurts occurred.

1st Space Brigade inducts newest noncommissioned officers
01.15.2026
FORT CARSON, Colo. – The 1st Space Brigade welcomed its newest noncommissioned officers during an induction ceremony at the Prussman Chapel on Fort Carson, Jan. 12, 2026.
The induction saw 13 inductees assume their new responsibility for mission achievement and Soldier well-being as they passed through the NCO arch and crossed sabers.
Command Sgt. Maj. Calvin Rich, 1st Space Brigade command sergeant major, defined the duties and professionalism expected of America’s NCO Corps, which dates to the country’s inception.
“First, know your Soldiers,” Rich said. “Second, know when to push them; third, know when to slow them down; and last, but most importantly, keep balance in their lives.”
Three candles were lit during the ceremony – red for past NCO blood shed for freedom; white for present purity; and blue for future loyalty.
The speaker for the event, 1st Sgt. David Ortiz, U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command Headquarters and Headquarters Company, stressed to the inductees that to be a successful leader, they should strive to learn, have humility, embrace challenge, listen and set conditions for others to succeed.
“Becoming an NCO is one of the most meaningful milestones in your military career,” Ortiz said. “It's recognition of your hard work, your potential and your readiness to lead others.
Being a noncommissioned officer is not just a title - it's a responsibility, a privilege, a call to leadership. As NCOs, you are the backbone of our Army.
You are the bridge between the Soldiers and the officers and the example of discipline, integrity and dedication.”
Above all, he said, NCOs should care.
“Care about your organizations, care about your Soldiers, care about the mission, care about your future, care about your families, care about your careers.
Just care – and what you produce will speak for itself in your career. Never forget that your influence extends beyond the uniform. It's in the lives you touch, the mentorship you provide and the legacy you leave behind.”
The Soldiers were then presented with certificates and issued the Charge of the NCO.

Venezuela, Maduro, ‘Call of Duty’ and the United States’ soft power
JAN 05, 2026 - 07:22 EST
In 2013, Call of Duty: Ghosts, the 10th installment (they are now on the 22nd) of the first-person shooter video game was released.
The story presented the Federation—a fictional alliance of South American countries whose capital was Caracas—as a military superpower that becomes the main enemy of the United States.
At the time, this narrative choice sparked considerable controversy in Venezuela, where the newly elected president, Nicolás Maduro, considered that the game was associating his country with a global military threat and symbolically positioning it as an antagonist.
Clearly, the game remains relevant today due to its storyline and its connection to recent world events.
Conspiracy theorists might argue that the Call of Duty saga participates in predictive programming, a term used to describe the supposed practice of introducing ideas or narratives into cultural products (films, TV series, advertising, music and so on) in order to psychologically prepare the population for future events.
But the truth is, it’s perhaps more useful to invoke Occam’s razor: given the thoroughness with which the Activision saga has blended reality and fiction, it was only a matter of time before one of its games predicted a future war or military event.
There haven’t been other controversies comparable to what happened in Venezuela with Call of Duty: Ghosts, but other installments in the series (such as Modern Warfare, Black Ops and Warzone) have generated controversy in other countries or geopolitical contexts.
And, of course, it doesn’t end with Call of Duty. Battlefield, Medal of Honor, Rainbow Six… many of these games—or at least some of their installments—adopt a clearly pro-military tone and often collaborate with former members of the special forces (this reporter has interviewed some of them).
America’s Army deserves a special mention, as it is a video game developed directly by the U.S. Army as a communication and recruitment tool.
Obviously, this doesn’t end with video games: cinema has followed the same path in films like Top Gun, 13 Hours, Black Hawk Down, American Sniper… or directly with Chuck Norris’ Delta Force (about the elite unit that was in fact responsible for capturing Maduro).
If we wanted to get lyrical, we could say that these products represent an intermediate point between pure military propaganda and fictionalized military thrillers, but if we move beyond meticulous analysis, it’s clear that they all share the same underlying structure: transforming complex geopolitical conflicts into spectacles of immediate and frenetic action in which (forcible) intervention by the U.S. is necessary and morally justified by the circumstances.
In other words, these kinds of creations are the cultural ambassadors of military power “made in the USA.”
It remains to be seen whether Maduro surrendered covertly or if we are in the presence of the most brilliant military operation in U.S. history, but there aren’t many other options besides these two.
And if it’s the latter, it perfectly aligns with the image of strength the United States wants to project to the world with its soft power.
In fact, many of the screenshots from the aforementioned games exactly match what is happening now in Caracas: localized attacks with few casualties, elite forces infiltrating silently into hostile territory, and surgical extraction operations.
Maduro was removed from a heavily guarded “military fortress” in the heart of Caracas, declared Donald Trump on Saturday.
It’s clear we’ll end up seeing a first-person video of bearded men dragging the Venezuelan leader out of bed, because this inevitable visual conception of the conflict has been surgically implanted in the retinas of new generations for years: everyone under 40 knows what it’s like to play a Call of Duty game.
The kinetic realization of the game is already a prophetic warning to the world: now we all know exactly what awaits the enemies of Freedom.

Teenagers busted in Ukrainian-run sabotage plots across Russia – FSB
16 Jan, 2026 11:17
Four teenagers have been detained by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) after they were allegedly recruited by Ukrainian intelligence to carry out arson attacks on police vehicles and a shopping mall.
The security service said on Friday it had “suppressed the activities” of the individuals, aged 15 to 17, in Moscow and the Chuvash Republic.
The FSB stated the minors were contacted via social media and dating chats by agents posing as girls to obtain their geolocation data.
After the teenagers sent the data, they were contacted by Ukrainian agents posing as Russian law enforcement officers who informed them that the coordinates they provided had been used by Kiev’s armed forces to plan drone strikes, the FSB said.
The callers then blackmailed the teens, offering them the opportunity to avoid criminal liability if they committed crimes under the guise of an “anti-terrorism security check.”
In video testimony released by the FSB, one teenager described being directed to buy gasoline. “I thought ‘why?’ but agreed. Then they jammed the internet when I got there. And thank God,” he said.
Another teen shared a threat he received from a masked man with a Ukrainian flag: “Thanks for the coordinates, bitch. You’re in for a fun night tonight.”
The Investigative Committee stated a 15-year-old from Cheboksary has been charged with a terrorist act for making incendiary bottles and burning two police cars last summer.
In Moscow, a 16-year-old is accused of attempted property damage for setting fire to a canister of gasoline in a mall cinema in November. The charges carry sentences of up to 25 years.
The FSB and Investigative Committee urged the public to be vigilant and not share personal data.
The agency has repeatedly reported foiling Ukrainian plots, often citing similar recruitment methods targeting teenagers and vulnerable citizens since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022.

USSR had no hand in JFK killing – archive chief
16 Jan, 2026 11:54
Archival documents prove that the Soviet Union was not involved in the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy, the head of Russia’s Federal Archival Agency (Rosarkhiv), Andrey Artizov, said in an interview with RIA Novosti on Thursday.
Last October, at the request of US Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, the Russian Embassy handed over copies of declassified Soviet-era documents compiled by Russia’s state archives related to Kennedy’s shooting death on November 22, 1963.
The Embassy said that many of the files had already been shared with US officials by Soviet authorities during Kennedy’s funeral in 1963.
According to Artizov, Russia’s main objective was to put to rest questions about the Soviet Union’s possible role.
“The Soviet leadership had nothing to do with the assassination or with all those theories of a communist conspiracy, and the documents show this,” he said, adding that the materials include documents published for the first time on Lee Harvey Oswald’s stay in the Soviet Union.
Oswald, who was charged with Kennedy’s murder, was shot dead two days after his arrest. The official US investigation concluded that he acted alone, though Kennedy’s death has continued to fuel speculation and conspiracy theories for decades.
Oswald lived in the Soviet Union from 1959 to 1960, where he worked as a lathe operator at a factory in Minsk, then part of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic. He married a Russian woman, who later moved with him to the United States.
US intelligence agencies monitored Oswald in 1963 after he allegedly visited Mexico City in late September of that year and sought visas from the Cuban Consulate and the Soviet Embassy, which were under routine surveillance.
Soviet security services also kept files on Oswald during his time in the USSR.
Luna, a Republican from Florida, has pushed for a renewed US examination of the assassination and has called for the full release of documents related to the case. She has publicly questioned whether Oswald was solely responsible.
US President Donald Trump released 2,800 documents on the Kennedy assassination in 2017 and an additional 80,000 pages related to the case in March 2025, though some material remains classified.

EU needs its own Oreshnik – Macron
16 Jan, 2026 02:41
French President Emmanuel Macron has said his country and its European partners will accelerate the development of new long-range weapons, pointing to Russia’s Oreshnik as a technological achievement capable of shifting the balance of power in the short term.
The Russian military used its cutting-edge Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile system last week to strike a Ukrainian aviation plant in Lviv, which was servicing F-16s and MiG-29s near the Polish border.
“We are within range of these shots,” Macron warned soldiers in a speech at the Istres-Le Tube Air Base on Thursday.
He noted that France seeks to obtain similar weapons through the so-called European Long-Range Strike Approach (ELSA) initiative.
“The initiative that we launched, known as ELSA, makes perfect sense when we have just observed for the second time the firing of a very long-range missile, known as Oreshnik,” Macron told the audience.
“If we want to remain credible, we Europeans – and especially France, which has certain technologies – must acquire these new weapons that will change the situation in the short term.”
“With our German and British partners in particular, we must make strong progress on these long-range strike capabilities… to increase our credibility and support our nuclear deterrence,” he added.
Launched in 2024 by France, Germany, and Poland (and later joined by Sweden, Italy, the UK, and the Netherlands), the ELSA program seeks to leverage shared European costs and industrial strength to develop long-range conventional strike capabilities, though it has yet to produce specific plans.
Russia first fired the Oreshnik at a weapons plant in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro in November 2024, describing it as a successful “combat test.” Mass production has since begun, and Russia deployed the system to Belarus in late 2025.
President Vladimir Putin has said the Oreshnik has no equal globally, comparing its power to a “falling meteor.” According to him, the system carries dozens of homing warheads capable of hitting multiple targets while traveling at ten times the speed of sound.
The second Oreshnik strike was conducted as part of Russia’s response to an attempted “terrorist attack by the Kiev regime” on a presidential residence in Novgorod Region, according to Moscow’s Defense Ministry.
CCTV footage from Lviv captured numerous projectiles descending from the sky in rapid succession, but Kiev has yet to confirm the scope of the damage.

Navy confirms major damage to Russian drone factory after joint operation with SBU
January 16, 2026 2:27 pm
Several large production halls have been destroyed at a large drone factory in Taganrog after a joint strike operation by the Ukrainian Navy and the Alpha special forces group of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The Atlant Aero factory, among other drone parts and military hardware, produced Russia's notorious Molniya ("Lightning") drone, a cheap fixed-wing loitering munition used widely by Russian forces across the front line.
The announcement confirming the damage to the facility's production capacity was posted by the Navy on Jan. 16, after the SBU first reported the strike three days earlier.
Satellite imagery accompanying the post shows a cluster of buildings suffering catastrophic damage, while small sections of two other halls also appear to be burnt down.
The Molniya is an extremely cheap Russian fixed-wing, first-person view (FPV) suicide drone, the use of which expanded greatly on the battlefield over 2025.
The drone, with a higher range and payload than regular quadcopter FPVs, has proved to be highly effective at targeting logistics routes and entrenched positions.
On top of the Molnyia, the Atlant Aero factory also allegedly produced parts for Russia's Orion strike drone as well as Russian electronic warfare equipment and other related parts, the SBU had earlier detailed.
The Kyiv Independent could not independently verify the claims made by the Navy or SBU.
Taganrog is a major Russian port city on the Sea of Azov in Rostov Oblast, just over 40 kilometers from the state border with the now-occupied part of Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast.
Over the past year, Russian military production facilities — including those located deep behind the front lines — have come under increasing attack as Kyiv steadily expands its long-range strike options.

IDF strikes Hamas, Islamic Jihad targets in Gaza in response to ceasefire violations
Updated: JANUARY 16, 2026 19:19
The IDF and Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) struck several Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, including several terrorist commanders, the IDF announced on Friday.
The attacks were made in response to violations of the ceasefire agreement earlier this week, in which terrorists were reported to have fired at IDF soldiers in western Rafah.
At this time, the IDF did not name the targeted terrorists. However, Hamas-affiliated sources reported that the IDF killed targets in homes belonging to the al Huli and al Jarou families.
The IDF also struck a Hezbollah terrorist in Lebanon on Thursday, successfully eliminating him.
The terrorist was reportedly making attempts to reestablish Hezbollah's infrastructure in the Zawtar al-Sharqiyah area in southern Lebanon, violating the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
Soldiers catch West Bank terrorists with Molotov cocktails
Soldiers in the Beitot area on Thursday also identified two terrorists preparing to throw Molotov cocktails toward a civilian road. The soldiers fired at the terrorists, hitting one, and apprehended both.
Three other suspects were caught by the IDF on Friday morning, after terrorists threw an explosive device and a Molotov cocktail towards a road near Kafr Malik.
No injuries were reported in either incident, and the suspects were transferred for further questioning.
Terrorists caught throwing stones at Israeli civilians
On Friday, IDF reported soldiers had been dispatched to the Al-Mughayyir area in the West Bank following a report about several terrorists who were throwing stones at Israeli civilians, setting tires on fire, and blocking access routes.
Upon their arrival, IDF soldiers identified dozens of terrorists hurling stones.
One terrorist was seen running toward the soldiers while holding a rock, posing an immediate threat. In response, the soldiers fired warning shots into the air and then eliminated the terrorist.
The IDF is currently conducting searches in the area and setting up roadblocks in Al-Mughayyir to locate additional suspects involved in the incident.

Ex-presidential office staffer claims he sent drone into North Korea
Updated 2026.01.16. 21:39
A man in his 30s who claims to be the person who sent a drone to North Korea is known to have worked at the Yongsan presidential office during the administration of former President Yoon Suk-yeol.
According to Yonhap News on the 16th, a person identified as A, who gave media interviews claiming he flew the South Korean drone that North Korea made public, was known to have worked on contract in the presidential office's Spokesperson's Office during the Yoon administration.
That day, A said in an interview with Channel A that A requested the interview after seeing the "military-police joint investigation TF" summon B, an acquaintance who made a drone for A, as a suspect for questioning.
Introducing A as an ordinary college student, the broadcast said A claimed to have flown a drone to measure radiation and heavy metal contamination at a uranium plant located in Pyeongsan County, North Korea.
A said A had sent a drone a total of three times since September last year, and claimed that the exterior, camouflage colors, and patterns of the drone North Korea disclosed were painted personally by A.
A also said A plans to voluntarily appear before police soon to be questioned.
A police official told Yonhap News, "There is nothing we can confirm at this time regarding the interview content," adding, "We are conducting an investigation into all possibilities."
The Korean National Police Agency earlier announced in a media notice that "the military-police joint investigation TF has requested the appearance of one civilian suspect and is conducting an investigation into the related matter."
Earlier, in a statement on the 10th, the General Staff of the Korean People's Army claimed it had shot down drones that South Korea infiltrated in September last year and on the 4th.
In response, the Ministry of National Defense suggested it was likely a civilian drone, saying it was not a drone owned by the military, and President Lee Jae-myung ordered a joint military-police investigation.

Battlefield tactics to inspire UK fight against prison drones
16 January 2026
-
UK to learn from Ukrainian tech expertise to crush drone smuggling behind bars
-
New £6.5million investment to accelerate anti-drone prison research
-
Part of historic 100 Year Partnership to drive security and prosperity in UK & Ukraine
The Government will look to apply battle-tested tactics used against Russian drone forces, adapted to protect UK prisons, as part of a new security drive to crackdown on criminals who use drones to smuggle drugs, weapons and mobile phones behind bars.
The UK has provided assistance to ensure Ukraine is at the forefront of drone and counter drone technology, having committed a record £350 million in 2025 to bolster their supply of drones from a target of 10,000 in 2024 to 100,000 by the end of December 2025.
The Deputy Prime Minister made the announcement following meetings with President Zelenskyy and Deputy Defence Minister Yurii Myronenko, while representing the UK at an international conference in Kyiv, to mark the first anniversary of the UK Government’s 100-Year Partnership with Ukraine.
To coincide with this, UK Research and Innovation has announced an additional £6.5 million to help accelerate anti-drone research and development.
This is part of a cross-government initiative to test next-generation technology, that would allow prison staff to detect and bring down illegal drones out of the sky.
The Ministry of Justice is working with UK Defence Innovation and UK Research and Innovation to launch high-stakes competitions challenging international businesses – including those from Britain and Ukraine – to develop cutting-edge technologies to help counter the scourge of illegal drones and drugs behind bars.
Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy said:
Ukraine’s uniquely advanced and battle-tested anti-drone technology will help us tackle the challenges we face at home.
I’ve tasked British prisons with learning from Ukraine’s drone expertise. We know prison drones pose a direct threat to national security and that’s why we’re acting decisively to tackle these gangs by investing millions in security and cutting-edge technology.
This is yet another prime example of how our work abroad is benefitting people at home.
The latest stats show there were 1,712 drone incidents between April 2024 and March 2025 at prisons across England and Wales.
The number of incidents at prisons involving drones skyrocketed by 770% between 2019 and 2023, with the devices increasingly being used by organised crime groups to smuggle contraband and fuel violence behind bars.
Government competitions will open the door to the world’s top technology businesses to pitch breakthrough solutions to Government as part of its drive to deliver safer streets.
This challenge is part of the Ministry of Justice’s wider ambition to engage with industry to source innovative security solutions.
It follows a recent tech showcase where businesses presented cutting-edge technologies to ministers, aimed at tackling prison violence, improving monitoring and strengthening frontline security.
This is in addition to a £40 million boost to bolster prison security this year, including £10 million on anti-drone measures such as exterior netting and reinforced windows.

U.S. military says it conducted the first kinetic drone swarm on American soil during a recent exercise
January 15, 2026
The U.S. military and tech companies have demonstrated drone swarms before, but officials are touting this latest exercise as the first time they’ve attacked simulated targets, armed with live ordnance.
uring a demonstration earlier this month, the U.S. military conducted the first kinetic drone swarm on American soil, officials said, a notable milestone in the Pentagon’s effort to experiment with unmanned systems that communicate across a common operating network to accomplish various tasks.
A small group of troops gathered at Camp Blanding, Florida, on Jan. 8 where they launched four first-person view drones — some of which were packed with plastic explosives — into the air and toward a column of inflatable tanks. One drone acted as a “leader,” guiding the other three toward their targets, which exploded in synchronized pops, according to a video of the demo.
The military and tech companies have demonstrated drone swarms before, but officials are touting this latest exercise as the first time they’ve attacked simulated targets, armed with live ordnance.
A drone swarm can refer to multiple unmanned systems being used at once, but the phrase specifically implies that these platforms are coordinating with each other across a shared network to fulfill a specific military objective.
A defense official, who asked to be identified as a War Department official in keeping with the Trump administration’s terminology, said the Camp Blanding demonstration achieved just that.
“This event marked the first-ever kinetic drone swarm on U.S. soil,” the official told DefenseScoop on Wednesday.
“During the demonstration, a single operator commanded three different types of first-person view drones, equipped with kinetic payloads and integrated through a common communication system to strike targets in a near-simultaneous manner.”
The exercise was part of a Pentagon pace-setting project called Swarm Forge, which was announced in a slew of military artificial intelligence-related documents on Monday.
Part of Swarm Forge intends to test and scale “ways of fighting with and against AI-enabled capabilities,” according to the Defense Department’s latest AI strategy.
The official did not specify if or how AI was used during the drone swarm when asked, but said that part of the Swarm Forge effort was meant to “push the boundaries of cutting-edge technology to ensure AI cooperation with warfighting units.”
Once seemingly a notion of science fiction, drone swarms — ones that could use AI to coordinate hundreds or even thousands of autonomous systems on land, sea or air — have been an interest of the U.S. military for years.
In 2021, Israel reportedly used the first known, authentic drone swarm against Hamas in Gaza.
A little over a year ago, the Marine Corps established a specialized FPV drone team that has since acted as the service’s central hub for training, doctrine and experimentation.
Known as the Marine Corps Attack Drone Team, it has been training and certifying Marines across the fleet for squad-level FPV system use, DefenseScoop recently reported.
Nathan Ecelbarger, a Marine veteran and president of the U.S. National Drone Association, said that his organization used MCADT concepts to help administer the drone swarm demonstration at Camp Blanding.
The USNDA has overseen several drone competitions between the services, where troops test their unmanned systems capabilities and trade tactics.
“The Marine Corps has done an incredible job demonstrating 1:1 employability,” he told DefenseScoop in an email.
While that capability “won’t get overshadowed,” higher levels of command could be faced with much starker drone ratios — possibly in a swarm of hundreds or more, he said.
“It’s an open ended question that won’t be solved on paper or powerpoint,” he said. “It will be solved by warfighters packing C4 on a hill somewhere in America.”
He added that technology from several UAS-centric companies participated in the demonstration, specifically Auterion, Kraken Kinetics, and SINE Engineering.
The drones in the demo appear to be using Auterion’s Nemyx system, which intends to “turn autonomous drones into a single, coordinated combat force,” according to the company.
“We’ve seen restrictions and red tape preventing this type of testing on many U.S. military installations,” Ecelbarger said. “We want to change that. Camp Blanding leadership have been incredible partners.”
The defense official said that special operations forces, Air Force explosive ordnance disposal personnel and Marines participated in the demo.

Help! Alien Lizard People Are Abducting Humans!
January 16, 2026
Millions of us have been protesting the inhumane treatment of immigrants for years. The abusive behavior of ICE and Border Patrol isn’t new, of course. It’s just increased exponentially over the past year.
We’ve seen agents beat protesters at gas stations, tase immigrants at bus stops, trap workers on rooftops, pepper spray people dressed as frogs and giraffes, pull disabled mothers from their cars, drag naked children from their apartments.
We’ve seen agents shoot smiling moms in the head.
Resistance organizers tell us it isn’t enough simply to remind violent agents of our humanity. We also need to remind them of theirs.
But what if the secret police aren’t merely inhumane? What if they’re not actually human at all?
We’ve seen countless examples of those on the far right projecting. “Every accusation is a confession.” So when far-right agitators claim that some on the left are lizard people, aliens from another world, is that a confession, too?
Could anyone truly human laugh as they chase terrified students down the street? As they follow zip-tied women into porta-potties?
Perhaps the routine clumsiness agents display is because they aren’t used to their temporary human forms yet.
Is the real reason so many agents hide their faces so we don’t see their scales?
These aliens can only police our streets if placed there by aliens higher up in the government.
Would human leaders, after all, even bad ones, not only rile up known enemies but strive so diligently to turn long-standing allies into enemies, too?
Would they go all out to tank their own economy? Deliberately spread disease among their own citizens?
Does the far-right media lie about climate change to hide alien plans to terraform the Earth so it will be more habitable for their species?
In a classic Twilight Zone episode, benevolent aliens arrive on Earth, their only desire “To Serve Man.” Millions of people, charmed by their generosity, pile into spaceships, believing they’re destined for a better life.
Only after it’s too late do they discover the alien’s manual, “To Serve Man,” is a cookbook.
Lizard people in the media tell us that inhuman ICE agents are serving the American people, but these creatures are kidnapping us, blinding us, crippling us, killing us.
All to serve their inhuman overlords.
Little men, green with envy serving a big orange man with little hands. Does this explain the notorious stench always emanating from their leader?
Can anyone see the “Mar-a-Lago face” and not instinctively understand that what we’re looking at isn’t human?
Who among us hasn’t suspected over the past couple of years that a cherished friend or family member has been secretly replaced by a pod person?
Resistance takes many forms. Mocking, yelling, blocking, suing. Perhaps we need to add another action, calling out these monsters for what they are.
The next time ICE agents invade our cities, let’s stand up for our neighbors by calling out what we now know to be true. “Alien lizard people are abducting humans!”
Monsters are scary, and it’s only natural to be afraid. But like the many brave humans who have fought off invaders before, let’s continue to work together and persevere. Solidarity is our superpower. No human gets left behind.
If we fail, the lizard people will take over the world.
This is our country, damn it, and our planet. Let’s not let the alien lizard people forget it!

Russia's Chilling UFO Files: Nukes Aimed at New York Nearly Fired As Aliens Vanished
16 January 2026, 12:46 PM GMT
In October 1982, the world may have come within minutes of catastrophe. Russian officers claim that unidentified objects once took control of nuclear missiles aimed at New York, before vanishing into the night.
According to secret Soviet documents, the weapons were fully primed to launch, and only the sudden disappearance of the UFOs stopped an apocalyptic strike that could have obliterated America's largest city in just 25 minutes.
The incident, preserved in restricted military files that were later surfaced in journalistic reports, has since become one of the most chilling near-misses of the Cold War.
The Night The Sky Went Mad Over Usovo
The drama unfolded above a missile base near the small hamlet of Usovo in what is now Ukraine.
Officers from a secret Ministry of Defence programme later described a surreal sky filled with multiple glowing objects that shifted shape, changed colour and darted at impossible speeds.
Some hovered silently while others streaked across the horizon before freezing mid-air as if observing the base.
High-ranking witnesses sketched what they saw, producing drawings of strange formations hanging directly above launch silos and surrounding military installations.
Their accounts were stamped with official seals and preserved in restricted files, suggesting that the sightings were taken seriously at the highest levels of the Soviet military.
Rather than a fleeting mystery light, this was a prolonged encounter that lasted long enough for trained personnel to study the objects and record their behaviour in detail.
How The Launch Codes Moved Themselves in 1982
The most alarming testimony came from a senior communications officer inside the control bunker. He claimed that the launch console suddenly lit up without any human input, as though an invisible hand had entered the correct firing codes.
Nuclear missiles capable of reaching New York were reportedly placed on full alert, ready to fire. According to the officer, Soviet staff were powerless to cancel the sequence and watched in horror as the system appeared to act on its own.
Then, at the exact moment the UFOs vanished from the sky, the launch process abruptly stopped. Power to the missiles returned to normal and the base avoided what could have been the spark for global nuclear war.
To the witnesses, the link between the objects overhead and the malfunction below seemed impossible to dismiss.

The Terrifying Echo at Malmstrom in America
The Usovo incident is not isolated. In 1967 at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana, retired US personnel have told a strikingly similar story.
They reported seeing red glowing UFOs hovering near nuclear silos. Shortly afterwards, multiple missiles were said to have shut down simultaneously, leaving American officers unable to control or launch them for around 10 minutes.
This episode has since been raised in US Congress by former military staff as part of hearings on unidentified aerial phenomena and nuclear security.
The fact that both superpowers experienced comparable incidents during the Cold War has added weight to claims that something unknown was actively interacting with atomic weapons.
For many researchers, the parallel between Usovo and Malmstrom is too close to be coincidence.
What The Documents Reveal About Sources
The Russian material originates from a classified Soviet investigation conducted in the early 1980s under the Ministry of Defence. The files include official military stamps, unit identifiers and the names of senior officers stationed at Usovo.
Journalist George Knapp later highlighted the case on Mystery Wire, drawing attention to the original eyewitness statements rather than second-hand rumours.
These accounts were collected at the time of the incident, not decades later, which supporters argue gives them greater credibility.
The American Malmstrom reports come from declassified testimony and interviews with retired airmen, some of whom spoke under oath before congressional panels.
Critics note that neither case provides physical proof like wreckage or radar recordings that are publicly available. Still, both rely on multiple trained witnesses whose careers depended on accurate reporting.
Taken together, the files suggest that in 1982 Russia came frighteningly close to launching missiles at New York under circumstances no one could explain.
Whether the cause was alien intelligence, electronic interference or an undiscovered military test remains unresolved, but the night over Usovo stands as one of the most disturbing near-misses of the Cold War.

Scientists search for hidden chambers inside the Kukulkán pyramid
01-15-2026
A protected monument that has stood for a thousand years, the Kukulkán pyramid, may still hold sealed spaces no one has seen, and researchers are preparing to learn what lies inside without disturbing its stone.
The effort matters because the site cannot be opened or altered, and understanding what remains hidden could change how one of the world’s most studied ancient places is understood.
Searching without drilling
At the heart of Chichén Itzá in Mexico, a team is preparing to peer inside the Kukulkán pyramid, also known as El Castillo, without removing a single stone.
The chamber scan uses muography, imaging with cosmic particles that pass through stone, to study the pyramid without cutting openings.
Leadership comes from Dr. Edmundo García Solís at Chicago State University (CSU), where he studies cosmic-ray detectors.
That background in particle physics helps design rugged instruments, and the team works with Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).
Why muons pass through
Limestone blocks stop most scanners, yet muons, heavy cousins of electrons made in the atmosphere, keep traveling through dense rock.
Detectors record how many arrive from each direction, because more stone means more energy lost and fewer particles reaching sensors.
Small density differences create subtle signals, so the chamber scan may need long exposures before any hidden void stands out.
Cosmic rays supply the beam
Cosmic rays strike the upper atmosphere every moment, and the collisions start particle showers that produce muons at ground level.
Because the particles arrive for free, teams can image volcanoes, shipwrecks, and damaged reactors without turning on an artificial beam.
That same convenience comes with patience, since sharper maps require more tracks and longer collection times.
How detectors see paths
Inside a tunnel, a detector stack measures each muon’s path across several precise sensor planes.
Software lines up the hits, and it estimates direction, because straight tracks suggest solid stone while gaps suggest open space.
Humidity can reach 100 percent in the tunnels, with temperatures near 79°F (26°C), and that stresses electronics over long runs.
Layers inside Kukulkán pyramid
Maya builders often expanded temples by burying older structures inside new masonry, creating an interior that is hard to map.
Each building phase adds walls, stairways, and fill, which changes density patterns that the chamber scan will try to separate.
If one phase used rubble instead of cut blocks, the map could look messy even when no chamber exists.
Archaeologists already know an inner temple holds two sealed chambers with a Chac Mool and a red jaguar throne.
Those finds came from exploration of a buried substructure, showing that major architectural spaces can survive intact for centuries.
Clear detection of these two rooms would give the chamber scan a reality check before it claims anything new.
1/2
A water cave below
Geophysical mapping suggests a karst, cave-prone limestone shaped by slowly dissolving water, sits beneath the pyramid and holds fresh water.
Electric measurements detected unusually low resistance beneath the base, because water conducts electricity better than solid limestone.
Understanding that wet foundation could shape where detectors sit, and it could narrow what counts as a real empty space.
Cenotes and sacred geography
Around Chichén Itzá, cenotes, natural sinkholes that expose groundwater in limestone, shaped settlement because they offered reliable water in dry seasons.
Maya ritual practice also treated these shafts as entrances to the underworld, making a water-filled cavity under the pyramid culturally loaded.
If the chamber scan finds new voids near that damp zone, archaeologists will have to separate symbolism from structural need.
Placing detectors in tunnels
Researchers plan to install two detectors in existing tunnels with INAH oversight, so the chamber scan can watch muons cross the pyramid.
“We can make very compact, very sturdy detectors,” said Dr. García Solís. Tunnel placement also limits angles, so the chamber scan may miss features shielded by blocked sightlines.
Proving it can work
Before hunting new spaces, researchers will compare the detector readouts against the two known rooms inside the inner temple.
Matching the expected drop in muon counts across those voids would show that the chamber scan can separate air from limestone.
A clean test result would justify moving detectors or adding more positions, which improves coverage without new excavation.
Turning tracks into maps
Raw data arrive as long lists of trajectories, and analysts convert them into a three-dimensional density map.
The math counts how many muons came from each direction, then it solves for the most likely rock density along each line.
Because different interior shapes can fit the same data, results usually come as probability ranges rather than simple floor plans.
What counts as a chamber
A candidate chamber is not just any anomaly, since cracks, rubble, and moisture can mimic empty space in the data.
Researchers look for consistent signals across multiple viewing angles, because a real room should appear in more than one direction.
Even then, INAH staff may require other non-invasive tests before anyone claims a door, tomb, or passage.
Lessons from the Kukulkán pyramid
Some archaeologists think an encased temple could have served as a royal burial, a pattern seen elsewhere in Mesoamerica.
A burial chamber would likely show thicker walls and a central void, because builders often sealed elite spaces for security.
Muon imaging can outline walls and voids, but it cannot identify bones or offerings, so archaeology still needs careful interpretation.
Together, the chamber scan, earlier geophysics, and Maya construction history show how new tools can open sealed architecture without damage.
Results will matter most when combined with on-site expertise, since muons reveal density patterns rather than the stories carved into stone.

UFO Change Agent: Leslie Kean on breaking the biggest story ever
Jan 8, 2026
In this episode I interview legendary author and journalist Leslie Kean on her 25-year journey as a UFO journalist, beginning with her groundbreaking 2000 Boston Globe article on the French COMETA report, which sparked her career shift from traditional journalism to covering UFO phenomena.
We examine Kean’s careful approach to reporting, maintaining credibility through rigorous fact-checking and avoiding sensationalism, which has helped her build trust with both mainstream media and skeptical audiences.
The conversation covers the breadth of the UFO subject, from physical craft in the sky to the downstream impacts on consciousness.
Kean also shares her experiences with physical medium Stewart Alexander, including witnessing firsthand the manifestation of a large, warm hand during seances, and explained the scientific limitations and safety precautions involved in such demonstrations.
Here’s a link to the oral history project with Alexander, as mentioned by Leslie:
https://digitalcollections.rice.edu/Documents/Detail/stewart-alexander-oral-history-interview/399252
We further explore how Kean’s Buddhist background influenced her perspective on consciousness and the UFO phenomenon, and we dissect the evolving relationship between Kean and the New York Times.
That paper’s coverage of UFOs shifted after Kean’s 2017 and 2019 articles, with Kean noting that more recent stories have been placed in the Arts section rather than News.
Finally, we discuss the political status of efforts to achieve disclosure, upcoming developments in the field, and even a new play of Kean’s — yes, on UFOs — now in development.
