Justice has not been served to the most culpable criminals. Trump must be some sort of sacrificial lamb, as nothing really is happening with the stolen election and grand conspiracy involving Obama-Brennan. When the C_A Democrat opposition party regains control, their edict will be for a "National Reconciliation". EVERYTHING Trump will be reversed and legislation will cement no voter I.D. laws nationwide. The arrests will be numerous, stunning and swift, meticulously planned behind the scenes for four years, then suddenly sprung. Any politician who worked with Trump will be impeached, censured or forced to resign. There will be a mass arrest campaign to "heal" and "bring the nation back to civility" Are you listening Trump? Bondi? Patel?

A reasonable request for ID under the Fourth Amendment typically requires law enforcement to have [reasonable suspicion] that a person is involved in criminal activity. This means there must be specific and articulable facts that justify the request, rather than a mere hunch or general suspicion.

Being in the U.S. illegally IS a crime.

In order to ENFORCE immigration laws; the IDENTITY of a person must be established. The first line is to ask for I.D. If you don't wish to provide it; don't, I don't care if you do of if you don't. It is not possible though to enforce immigration law without establishing the identity of a person. The Forth Amendment states that any searches must be 'reasonable' based on a reasonable suspicion the person is illegally residing here. Personally I don't like the idea of "checkpoints" within the interior of the country either and I am against this macro-filter approach, preferred instead to a direct reasonable suspicion instead. But without the ability of ICE to ascertain legal/illegal status, an ID must be made. If you are entirely against law enforcement being able to tell who is who, then ultimately you are complicit with allowing criminal foreign trespassers to operate freely in this country. I am not. I voted for this.

>>Being in the US "illegally" is civil. It's the manner of entry that's criminal.

The law prohibiting โ€œimproper entryโ€ in the U.S. by noncitizens is found in 8 U.S. Code ยง 1325 and the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). This legal code stipulates a fine or imprisonment for any migrant who โ€œ(1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact.โ€
