Now do the entire west

White House Credits Mass Deportations for Tumbling Home and Gas Prices in Major Cities

Well, well, well. You can expect swathes of President Donald Trump’s critics to suddenly quit yapping about home and gas prices.

It seems the numbers suddenly aren’t in their favor — oh, well.

Trump’s administration took a victory lap as home and gas prices in major cities continue to nosedive.

And the White House thinks there’s one key, contributing factor for at least the home prices: Trump’s strict immigration policies.

FACT: In 14 of the top 20 metro areas with the largest illegal migrant populations, home list prices DECLINED year-over-year in December.

The three metro areas that saw modest price increases are all “sanctuary cities.”

Mass deportations = lower housing costs for Americans.

Trump’s official “Rapid Response” X account took to social media early Monday morning to tout the good news for potential home buyers in sanctuary cities.

“FACT: In 14 of the top 20 metro areas with the largest illegal migrant populations, home list prices DECLINED year-over-year in December,” the rapid response account posted. “The three metro areas that saw modest price increases are all ‘sanctuary cities.'”

And to hammer that point home in the simplest manner possible, the account added: “Mass deportations = lower housing costs for Americans.”

The figures make that claim hard to dispute.

Interestingly enough, one of the deep-blue pockets in otherwise ruby-red Texas saw the biggest dip, as Austin home buyers can now enjoy median list prices that have dropped by 7.3 percent year-over-year.

After Austin, the next two biggest drops came in the Democrat-run state of California.

San Diego saw the median list price of homes fall by 6.7 percent. San Jose, meanwhile, saw a 5.5 percent drop.

After that was Washington, D.C., which saw a 4.8 percent drop.

Of note, Seattle, Chicago, and Philadelphia saw those prices tick up ever so slightly, with increases of .3, .4, and .5 percent, respectively.

Swedish PM rejects US ‘blackmail’

President Donald Trump has announced new tariffs on eight European NATO states for opposing his plan to acquire Greenland

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has denounced US tariff threats, calling them “blackmail” against his country and its allies.

The comment comes in response to Washington hitting eight European NATO nations with import duties for opposing US President Donald Trump’s plans to acquire the Danish autonomous territory of Greenland.

On Friday, Trump said he would impose a 10% levy on US imports from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland starting February 1. He stressed that the tariffs would rise to 25% in June, and remain in place until a “complete and total purchase” of the Arctic island is achieved.

“We will not be blackmailed,” Kristersson wrote Saturday in a post on X, stressing that Copenhagen is currently discussing the matter with other EU countries, Norway, and the UK to coordinate a joint response.

“Only Denmark and Greenland decide on matters concerning Denmark and Greenland. I will always stand up for my country and for our allied neighbors,” he said, highlighting that the issue “affects many more countries than those currently being singled out.”

The NATO countries hit by the tariffs recently joined Denmark in sending small military contingents to Greenland, symbolically affirming the island’s sovereignty. Both Danish and Greenlandic authorities have stressed the territory is not for sale, noting that a vote in 2008 confirmed continued autonomy under Denmark.

Trump’s move drew strong criticism in Europe. French President Emmanuel Macron called the tariff threats unacceptable and promised a “united and coordinated” response. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the threats would harm transatlantic ties and reiterated EU solidarity with Denmark and Greenland. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the tariffs as “completely wrong,” saying they undermine NATO, and pledging direct talks with the US.

The US president has recently stepped up efforts to bring Greenland under US control, a goal he has pursued since his first term. Trump argues that the acquisition is crucial for US national security to counter Chinese and Russian influence in the Arctic – an assertion rejected by both Beijing and Moscow.

Macy's Closing Two Fulfillment Centers, Laying Off 1,000 Workers

Macy’s will close its two fulfillment centers in Cheshire later this year, a move that will affect nearly 1,000 employees, according to a company notice released Tuesday and reported by WFSB.

The facilities on Knotter Drive and West Johnson Avenue will shut down. A small group of maintenance workers will remain through spring 2027 to assist with the closure, but most employees are expected to lose their jobs this year.

Cheshire’s town manager said the community was notified and is working with state and regional agencies to help displaced workers. In a statement, the town said:

“The Town of Cheshire is deeply saddened by Macy’s decision to close its Logistics Fulfillment Center, resulting in the elimination of nearly 1,000 jobs. Macy’s has been a valued member of our community since 1986 and has consistently been one of Cheshire’s top ten employers, making this a significant loss for our town.

Hundreds Protest Against Communist China’s ‘Mega Embassy’ in London

Hundreds of people on Saturday rallied in London against Beijing’s controversial new “mega” embassy, days ahead of a decision on the plan.

Protesters, their faces mostly covered with scarves or masks, chanted “No to Chinese embassy” and waved flags reading “Free Hong Kong. Revolution now”.

Others held up placards with slogans such as “MI5 warned. Labour kneeled”, referring to the UK’s domestic intelligence agency and Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s ruling party.

Others read: “CCP (Chinese Communist Party) is watching you. Stop the mega embassy.”

China has for several years been trying to relocate its embassy, currently in the British capital’s upmarket Marylebone district, to the sprawling historic site in the shadow of the Tower of London.

The move has sparked fierce opposition from nearby residents, rights groups and critics of China’s ruling Communist Party.

The latest protest came ahead of an expected decision this week.

Benedict Rogers, head of the human rights group Hong Kong Watch said if it got the go-ahead it was “highly likely” that the site “will be used for espionage”, citing the sensitive underground communications cables close to the site.

He said China had already been “carrying out a campaign of transnational repression against different diaspora communities” and other critics and predicted that that would “increase and intensify”.

Beijing ‘operations base’ –

A protester who gave his name only as Brandon, for fear of reprisals, said the plans raised a “lot of concerns”.

Netanyahu fumes at Gaza oversight panel makeup as Trump invites Erdogan to peace board

PM’s office says it was left out of talks on makeup of executive board, which includes top officials from Turkey, Qatar; American official retorts: ‘This is our show, not his show’

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Saturday that the White House’s unveiling of a key international oversight panel for Gaza “was not coordinated with Israel and contradicts its policy,” in a rare break with US President Donald Trump’s administration that was met with a sharp rebuke from a senior US official.

Netanyahu appeared to be taking issue with the makeup of a new body called the executive board, which will include senior officials from Qatar and Turkey — two countries that have been highly critical of Israel’s prosecution of the war in Gaza.

While it will technically operate beneath the Board of Peace — which is headed by Trump and made up of world leaders — the executive board will be more directly involved in overseeing the postwar management of Gaza, playing a critical role as opposed to the more symbolic Board of Peace.

Netanyahu’s office said in a statement that the premier had instructed Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar to raise Israeli opposition to the executive board’s makeup with his US counterpart, Marco Rubio. Sa’ar has largely been kept away from direct involvement in Israel-US relations, which have run through Netanyahu’s office and his top advisers.

After Netanyahu’s statement, an unnamed senior American official was quoted by the Axios outlet as lashing out at the Israeli leader.

“This is our show, not his show,” the official reportedly said. “We managed to do things in Gaza in recent months nobody thought was possible, and we are going to continue moving. If he wants us to deal with Gaza, it will have to be our way. We worked over him. Let him focus on Iran and let us deal with Gaza. We are not going to argue with him. He will do his politics and we will keep moving forward with our plan. He can’t really go against us.”

Added the official: “We are doing him a favor. If this fails he can say, ‘I told you so.’ We know that if it succeeds he will claim credit.”

What’s Behind the Killing of Christians in Nigeria

“You can be less than a hundred meters away from a military checkpoint and still be killed by Islamists because the army does not protect you,” said Paul, a local journalist in Nigeria. He repeated, “The army does not protect you because it is systematically controlled. Orders are given, and that is the end of it.”

Paul is a Christian living close to communities being attacked by Islamic extremists and is deeply concerned about getting the word out to the international community that Nigerian Christians desperately need help. He asked that his full name not be used because, as he said, “People get threatened. They get picked up and disappear.”

The population of Nigeria is fairly evenly split between Christians and Muslims, with the bulk of Muslims living in the north. Paul’s region, which has been the center of Islamist attacks on Christians, is in the Middle Belt, where Christians are on the front lines, standing between the Muslim north and the Christian south.

The current violence has its roots in centuries of conflict. Islam spread into northern Nigeria primarily through the jihad led by Usman dan Fodio beginning in 1804. Dan Fodio, a Fulani Islamic scholar, launched a holy war against the Hausa rulers who mixed traditional practices with Islam. By 1808, his forces had conquered the major Hausa kingdoms including Gobir, Kano, and Katsina, establishing the Sokoto Caliphate with emirates governed under Islamic law. The jihad attempted to expand into the Middle Belt region but met resistance from indigenous tribes in areas including Plateau and Benue States, which halted the southward advance.

When the British colonized Nigeria and amalgamated diverse regions into a single country in 1914, they preserved the emirate system in the north through indirect rule. The Sultan of Sokoto, residing in the caliphate’s capital, retained authority over Muslims in northern Nigeria. This colonial arrangement created tensions by joining together previously independent kingdoms and ethnic groups, many with histories of conflict, into one nation-state under structures that favored the Islamic north’s existing power hierarchy.

In Paul’s estimation, there is a connection between the northern Muslim power structure and the violence against Christians that enables these attacks to continue. “Based on what people on the ground tell us, including those with privileged information, the situation appears clear to them,” he said. “They report that key positions of command are held by individuals who don’t act to protect Christian communities. Even when soldiers are deployed, victims say they are often told there are orders not to engage while villages are being burned and people are being killed.”

Community members in states like Taraba and Benue have made similar allegations to journalists, claiming soldiers cite lack of fuel or arrive too late to intervene. These accusations of military complicity or deliberate inaction are widespread among Christian leaders and victims in the Middle Belt, though the Nigerian government denies these claims and attributes security failures to resource constraints and the challenges of combating multiple insurgent groups across a vast territory.

Paul, however, does not believe the attacks are random or spontaneous; they are clearly targeted against Christians. Furthermore, the scale is massive. “They are highly coordinated and sophisticated. You are always overwhelmed.” Generally, attacks happen at night, with a large number of terrorists arriving in trucks and motorcycles. They park far enough away that villagers will not hear the engines. “But sometimes they drive right into the middle of the village,” Paul said.

He said the organized nature of the attacks suggests the attackers have military support. “They come in large numbers, and the logistics involved are extensive.”

“There are those who come in first with guns. If you manage to escape the gunfire, those behind them come with machetes.”

In other parts of the world, like Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon, persecuted Christians formed militias and protection units. But Paul said this has not happened in Nigeria, largely because citizens are not permitted to own weapons. The Muslim militias have weapons, however, and in many cases those weapons have been traced to the military.

Despite these strict gun control laws, or perhaps because of them, Nigeria has become awash in illegal weapons. The country reportedly accounts for 70 percent of the estimated 500 million illegal weapons circulating in West Africa. The Nigerian Police Force cannot account for 178,459 firearms, including 88,078 AK-47 rifles that have gone missing from official stockpiles.

US Congress just legalized the largest wealth transfer in financial history. Nobody noticed.

Congress just made them a $6 billion giveaway for issuers.

US Congress just legalized the largest wealth transfer in financial history.

Nobody noticed.

Section 11 of the GENIUS Act prohibits stablecoins from paying yield to holders.

Tether holds $135 billion in Treasuries earning 4.5%.

That’s $6 billion annually.

Passed to you: $0.

Tether keeps everything.

Legally mandated.

By Congress.

It gets worse.

January 1, 2026: China activated interest-bearing digital yuan.

American digital dollar: 0% yield (banned) Chinese digital yuan: 0.35% yield (enabled)

For every merchant in Brazil, Nigeria, Indonesia choosing settlement rails:

America charges you to hold dollars. China pays you to hold yuan.

This is what “dollar dominance” looks like now.

The smart money already sees it.

BlackRock’s BUIDL: $2.8 billion AUM, pays 4.9% Franklin’s BENJI: $849 million AUM, pays 4.9%

Same Treasury backing. Different legal wrapper. Full yield to holders.

Institutional capital is migrating from zero-yield stablecoins to yield-bearing tokenized Treasuries.

The GENIUS Act accidentally created the product that kills its own creation.

BIS Working Paper 1270 quantified the asymmetry:

$3.5B inflow: yields drop 2.5 bps $3.5B outflow: yields spike 8 bps

Ratio is 1:3.

Stablecoin issuers have no Fed backstop. No discount window. No lender of last resort.

One confidence crisis forces a $135 billion Treasury fire sale with no rescue mechanism.

Congress built a bomb and called it regulation.

The GENIUS Act didn’t secure dollar hegemony.

It created two financial universes:

One extracts yield from holders. One distributes yield to holders.

America chose extraction. China chose distribution.

Good Feds Don’t! Fed Money Printing Benefits The Top 1%, Not The Bottom 50% (The Fed Acting Like Somalian Daycare Centers)

A good Federal Reserve don’t. Print money, that is.

The Federal Reserve prints a lot of money (M2). Unfortunately, it largely benefits elites (the top 1%). The bottom 50% get some benefits, but the gains in net worth largely benefits the elite class.

This sounds like a legal Somali daycare scheme. Perhaps The Fed should be renamed “The Federal Quality Learing Center.”

Yes, Somalis have daycare centers in Columbus Ohio. Thanks Governor Dewine for doing absolutely nothing to reign in their fraud. /sarc

Trump asks Australia, Albanese to join Gaza 'Board of Peace'

US President Donald Trump has asked Australia and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to join his 'Board of Peace' that would aim to progress the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

Dozens of countries and leaders have been invited, according to a list first reported by Bloomberg.

What's next?

If Australia joins, it will be a member for at least three years and would need to pay $US1 billion to remain on the Board of Peace beyond that.
