S4 Radiation Storm in Progress

Protons crossed the S4 level and still climbing. Don't fly near the poles.

The X2 flare yesterday was more productive than its very impressive full halo eruption even suggested. We'll see where it ends up.

NOAA SWPC predicting G4 Level 8 geomagnetic storms early on the 20th.

Our magnetic shields are very weak and weakening, so aurora could very likely be visible in lower latitudes when the main bulk arrives. Coronagraphs are already getting snowed out from energetic protons.

I've seen it get up into the S3 range after big dense pops, but not S4 or so soon. At least the really energetic protons didn't budge much thankfully.

The problem with coronagraphs is you can't see what coming directly at you because you have this blinding nuclear reactor behind the thing you need to see.
