#OTD 58 years ago, the battle for Khe Sanh Combat Base began.
On this day fifty-six years ago in 1968, U.S. Marines at the Khe Sanh Combat Base in Vietnam were fighting in one of the most intense battles of the Vietnam War.
The Battle of Khe Sanh pitted 6,000 encircled and besieged Marines against 20,000 North Vietnamese Army troops.
Alongside South Vietnamese troops, #Marines endured massive artillery bombardments and limited supplies. However, with the help of overwhelming close air support strikes and resupply missions from
