Balint: Mr.Smith, do you believe that President Trump's Department of Justice will find some way to indict you?

Smith: I believe that they will do everything in their power to do that because they've been ordered to by the president.

Vice President Vance: My understanding is, what invoking the Insurrection Act would allow to do, is it would allow the federal government to use the military for local law enforcement operations. Right now, we don't think that we need that. Now the president could change his mind; of course things could get worse, but right now, we think that federal law enforcement officers can do the job of federal law enforcement. What I do worry about, again, is that the chaos gets worse, if more and more ICE agents are getting assaulted, if other law enforcement officers start getting assaulted, that would be a real problem.

Vice President Vance: The Minneapolis Police Department, my understanding, is that the actual beat cops on the ground, they would love to help out [with ICE], but they are being told by somebody; I love this Mayor Frey, they're being told by somebody not to cooperate at all. What kind of person tells their local police, don't protect somebody if they're being assaulted by a rioter? It's crazy, and it's got to stop.
