When I was a little boy, about 8 or 9 years old, I learned about Silver.

I used to look into the cash registers when they were giving me my change.

I'd see a darker nickel and I'd know it was a War Nickel.

I'd ask the cashier to give me the dark nickel.

EACH one (which I still have) is now worth MORE THAN 5 dollars.

imagine that.

Well that's not the only reason that things changed.

It certainly wasn't good for the city of Rome.

They lost the minting franchise. It was all moved to Milan.

the 'Silver Nickels' were, I think, 40% silver.

they were worth 5 cents. They were still being used in the 1960s if you knew about then you could pick them out of change.

The composition of the nickel, today, is the same as it was before WWII.

Some would argue that the Roman Empire never fell, it just split up into smaller units.

When I hear people say 'The Fall of the Roman Empire' I imagine that as a title of a novel about Ancient Rome set in the Autumn of the year.

you might want to review History, anon.

The Roman Empire started with Augustus, some might say with Julius Caesar, Octavian's uncle.

but Rome had a very rich and long and successful history going back hundreds and hundreds of years previous to that.

and the Roman Empire? Did it ever really end?

Roman Catholics are the largest religious group in the world.

Christians are all offshoots of what came out of that system.

but it'd be a slide to go on with this.

buy more milk than you can drink before the exparation date, so you end up throwing it all away.

flood into the grocery store and buy three weeks worth of groceries, shove people and be rude to them if they get in your way.

cancel all activities.

and then when it's just a dusting, have a long nap because everything's cancelled and there isn't anything else to do.
