German authorities have called for the return of the country's gold reserves held in the United States to Germany due to the "unpredictable policy" of the Trump administration and increasing geopolitical uncertainty.
According to the authorities, approximately 37% of Germany's gold reserves – more than 1,230 tons – are currently stored in the Federal Reserve vaults in New York. This is considered a strategic risk, and Germany should therefore develop a plan for the complete return of the gold to its home territory.
