Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara warned on Face the Nation Sunday that public anger over a string of federal‑involved shootings has reached a breaking point, saying the city is so overwhelmed that even a finding of legal justification in the latest incident “does not matter at this point.” 1/2
Host Margaret Brennan asked the Minneapolis police chief his opinion about the facts of Saturday’s shooting of a protester in the city. He explained that he believes the videos speak for themselves. He continued, saying, “So I think very obviously, there are serious questions that are being raised.”
“And I think the greater issue is,” O’Hara continued, “even if there is an investigation that ultimately proves that at the time of the shooting it was legally justified, I don’t think that even matters at this point, because there just- there is so much outrage and concern around what is happening in the city.”
Pressed by Brennan on what he meant, O’Hara said Minneapolis residents “have had enough” after three shootings in less than three weeks, including two fatal encounters involving federal agents.He noted that his department recovered roughly 900 guns last year without firing a shot, yet now finds itself managing escalating chaos with only 600 officers. “This is not sustainable,” he said, describing the toll on a force he says is stretched “incredibly thin” as the city waits for leaders “on both sides to come together and figure this thing out.
The chief stated:
People have had enough. This is the third shooting now in less than three weeks. The Minneapolis Police Department went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds and hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn’t shoot anyone. And now this is the second American citizen that has been killed. It’s the third shooting within three weeks. People have been speaking out, saying that this was going to happen again. And I think everyone is kind of waiting for folks on both sides to come together and just figure this thing out. This is not sustainable. This police department has only 600 police officers. We are stretched incredibly thin. This is taking an enormous toll trying to manage all of this chaos, on top of having to be the police department for a major city. It’s too much.
Chief O’Hara stated that the decedent, 37-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretti, was legally exercising his First and Second Amendment rights to protest and to be legally armed. The chief left out that Minnesota law requires a person to carry their permit and a photo ID to legally carry a sidearm. Minnesota law also states that a person must be carrying for a lawful purpose. A finding that he was interfering with a federal law enforcement operation could also negate the chief’s claim.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Okay, because we checked the Minnesota gun permit rules allow for concealed carry, and there are no restrictions on carrying in a protest.
O’HARA: Yes, that’s right.
You have a Second Amendment right in the United States to possess a firearm, and there are some restrictions around that in Minnesota. And everything that we see, that we are aware of, shows that he did not violate any of those restrictions. He is not a convicted felon, and he is someone that did have a permit for the handgun to carry it.

MARGARET BRENNAN: So you have not seen evidence that there were multiple magazines, but- but would it even be illegal if that were the case?
O’HARA: I don’t think there is any relevance if someone is lawfully exercising their Second Amendment right to carry. The only question would be if they were using the weapon in a- for an unlawful purpose.

Last week CPB commander Greg Bovino was asked what makes Minneapolis different from other cities where ICE enforcement operations have taken place. Bovino noted in the Minneapolis region there is no separation between the extremists on the ground and the people in local government. Today, Vice President JD Vance concurs and expands on that sentiment:

What Vice-President Vance says here is very important. The regional government is a stakeholder in maintaining the chaos on the streets. Why? Because for two decades a cancer of rampant financial fraud has been permitted to spread throughout the Minneapolis region and has now reached the stage of visible metastasis.
Shortly after the George Floyd shooting, some of us started looking into a background issue where it seemed like local police and Floyd had a knowledgeable relationship with each other prior to the encounter on the street. The initial contact between Floyd and police was about Floyd passing off a counterfeit $20 bill to a business that was not part of the approved money laundering operation.
When you follow that trail, you end up in a really weird place where it seemed like millions of counterfeit dollars were entering the country through Mexico, going by rail into the U.S. mainland and then transitioning through the Minneapolis region. I stopped researching it {SEE HERE} when I discovered that Floyd and police officer Chauvin were friends, and worked together at one of the laundry businesses; a nightclub.
The corrupt activity in the Minneapolis area has been going on for around two decades. There are two basic components, local financial fraud and govt financial fraud. The local fraud represented millions and involved counterfeit goods/money and laundering operations. The government assisted financial fraud represents billions and involves abuses of federal tax monies.
After 20 years of this activity almost all elements of the economic and social structure are now compromised. As we have seen in the last several weeks, the HHS/CMS fraud is extensive and that illegal activity is impossible to exist without the knowledge, aid and assistance of the regional and municipal government officials.
Fraudulent day cares, fraudulent healthcare services, fraudulent transport companies, fraudulent “Health Outreach Workers” and various governmental offices all involved in bilking taxpayers for billions upon billions. At the same time there is a massive money laundering operation in the underground economy.
After two decades of this unchecked corruption, there’s no way to guess how much of the regional economic activity is actually dependent on the financial fraud.My best estimate is that over fifty percent of all economic activity -in the entire region- is based on fraud.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions are the surface level issue for the regional and state government. However, it is the widespread financial fraud that turns the activity of the leftist agitators on the street into a useful tool for the regional officials to manipulate in order to hide the true financial fraud that surrounds the area.
The “local authorities” are working with the “far left agitators” because the Minneapolis region is a network of codependent fraud.
The police are compromised. The judges and courts are compromised. The local municipal officials are compromised. The mayor’s office is compromised, and the corruption issue spreads out to the state level when Governor Tim Walz previously shut down audits of the financial crimes and then state officials ignored whistleblowers.
All of the private and public institutions -within the system of regional and state government- are connected to a statewide network of financial fraud, from counterfeit money laundering to exploitation of federal government benefits; it is all connected to the same network of fraud.
It was the ease and ability to conduct fraud that attracted the Somali migrants and the criminal aliens. These people came for the money. ICE coming to arrest the aliens has put a spotlight on the reason why they aggregated in the Minneapolis region.
How this can be corrected is anyone’s guess.
Follow the money trail and you will discover this real reason for the state and local officials to support the anarchy in the streets. They all want the federal government to leave.

Anti-ICE Rioters Barricading Entire Blocks In Minneapolis As Police Appear To Be MIA 1/2
Left-wing rioters erected barricades in the streets of Minneapolis after Border Patrol agents fatally shot a man in possession of a gun Saturday.
Alex Pretti, 37, was killed during what a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) statement described as a “targeted” enforcement operation at 9:05 a.m. local time, triggering riots. Jorge Ventura, reporting for the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF),posted video of one such barricade made with dumpsters and trash cans Saturday afternoon.
“Protesters have blocked and barricaded multiple streets near the shooting, many people from out of town are starting to arrive here in Minneapolis and despite the massive amounts of tear gas used by authorities,the crowd is only getting bigger,” Ventura says.
Ventura told the DCNF thatMinneapolis police and the Minnesota State Patrol “are letting them take to the streets” and not making any effort to remove the barricades. The Minneapolis Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the DCNF.

At least two DHS officers, one from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and another from Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), have been injured by the rioters, according to Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin.
Democrats immediately condemned the shooting, with Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar claiming it was an “execution” in a Saturday post on X.
Democrats also demanded President Donald Trump end the enforcement operations being carried out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York similary announcedDemocrats would oppose the appropriationslegislation for the Department of Homeland Security, placing the government at risk of a partial shutdown.

DHS personnel were involved in two recent previous incidents. The fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent and a Jan. 14 incident during which an ICE agent wounded one of three illegal immigrants who ambushed him provoked an increase in violent opposition to immigration enforcement operations.
ICE deployed hundreds of agents into the Minneapolis area to target illegal immigrants from Somalia following reports of welfare fraud in Minnesota by City Journal in November. Some of the proceeds from the scams reportedly went to the Somalia-based radical Islamic terrorist group, al-Shabaab.
President Donald Trump declared an end to Temporary Protected Status for Somalis in the state Nov. 22. Left-wing rioters targeted counter-protesters supporting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations Saturday in Minneapolis, including beating at least one counter-protester and leaving him bleeding.
The violence escalated after an ICE agent shot an illegal immigrant from Venezuela after being ambushed during a targeted” enforcement operation Wednesday, one week after another ICE agent fatally shotRenee Nicole Good during a Jan. 7 immigration enforcement operation. Video taken by Daily Caller News Foundation reporter Jorge Ventura showed anti-ICE rioters attacking a counter-protester with a flagpole.
“This is what you fucking wanted!” one anti-ICE rioter shouted as the counter-protester, who was apparently bleeding from a head wound as he walked away. The video alsoshowed anti-ICE rioters destroying property at a parking garage and continuing to attack the counter-protester, repeatedly striking him in the head.
The assaulted protesterjoined independent journalist Jake Lang for a protest against welfare fraud perpetrated by Somali migrantsthat federal officials estimated to have cost taxpayers at least $9 billion. The protest was met by rioters attending an event held by thePeople’s Action Coalition Against Trump, a group funded by left-wing billionaire George Soros, the New York Post reported.
Multiple videos posted to X by independent journalists, including Nick Sortor and Cam Higby, who surviveda Monday attack by a mob,showed the anti-ICE rioters targeting attendees of Lang’s event. Sortor and Higby blamed Democratic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for allowing the assaults to occur.

Antifa Influencer Declares ‘Guerrilla War’ Against ICE After Minnesota Shooting

A Minneapolis man who calls himself “Antifa”urged his nearly 36,000 Instagram followers to “get your fucking guns” and “stop” federal law enforcement, after a Border Patrol agent fatally shot an armed man in his city.
Kyle Wagner, a self-described“entrepreneur” and “master-hate-baiter,” posted a series of videos to social media appearing toencourage armed and explicitly non-peaceful demonstrations against federal agents, whom he referred to as “Nazi gunmen.” The far-left influencer uploaded the videos in the immediate aftermath of the day’s fatal shooting, which the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) claimed targeted a suspect who looked ready to “massacre law enforcement.” Chaotic riots subsequently erupted on the streets of Minneapolis. (Funny since Nazi Germany creates Antifa in this century. Merz refuses to ban Antifa, like most EU countries, because they use them against their citizen when they disagree with EU leadership.)
“My name is Kyle, I’m Antifa, and there’s so much rage in me, I’ve had to record this like fifteen times trying to get the message out,” Wagner addressed the camera in one video posted to Instagram. “They fucked up.”
“[I]t’s time to suit up, boots on the ground … show up ready to go,” he said, later noting he was specifically “talking specifically to my fucking followers.”
“No, not talking about peaceful protests anymore.We’re not talking about having polite conversations anymore(when were they ever polite?),” Wagner stressed. “Sorry, but welcome to America 2026 where Second Amendment is the only thing that’s gonna keep you fucking protected from literal fucking Nazi gunmenthat are killing innocent people in the street with impunity. This is not a fucking joke. There’s nothing fun to chant about it.”
“Get your fucking guns and stop these fucking people,” the self-professed Antifa content creator emphasized.
In another Saturday video posted to the platform,Wagner declared there “is a fucking actual guerrilla war in our streets.”
“Listen, my link to my Venmo is in my bio. Okay, if you can’t give via Venmo,you can fucking, you know, send me gifts now. I’m monetized,“ he said, referring to a popular application used to send money online.
Wagner also statedhe was soliciting “large sums of money” for an “emergency freedom and defense fund,” but added “I’m not gonna tell you what I’m spending my money on.”
“They’re using live ammunition to kill our citizens,” he said, likely referring to federal law enforcement agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). “I need everyone to show up fully prepared, whatever that means to you, to whatever degree you can right legally.”
“We need to be there as American citizens in defense of our constitutional rights to fucking say, ‘No!’ They have to go!” the influencer said, raising the volume of his voice.
Later the same day, Wagner posted a videoto Instagram of himself raising a fist at a protest where demonstrators, including some holding an upside down American flag, could be loudly heard shouting, “ICE out!”
“This morning, ICE murdered another innocent person four blocks from my house,” Wagner said in a video posted to Instagram after the Saturday shooting. Border Patrol, not ICE, is reported to have killed the armed suspect.
Anti-ICE protests and riots have intensified in Minneapolis after an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Good, a woman who had accelerated her vehicle in his direction, hitting him with it on Jan. 7.
Wagner has also referred to himself as “Antifa” in multiple recent Instagramvideos and has a large tattoo of the “Three Arrows,” a popular far-left “antifascist” symbol, on his neck.
In addition to a link to his Venmo account, Wagner’s Instagram bio also includes the hashtag“#IronFront,” a reference to a left-wing antifascist group, as well as his preferred pronouns, “he/him.”
