“LET THERE BE LIGHT"👀: Seven people were killed and one crew member seriously injured when a Bombardier Challenger 650 private jet crashed during takeoff at Bangor International Airport in Maine on Sunday evening amid heavy snow.
Audio captured a voice saying "let there be light" moments before the crash. The plane, registered to Houston law firm Arnold & Itkin and believed headed to Paris after refueling, went down during a winter storm warning with temperatures at 1°F and 6-8 inches of snow creating poor visibility.
It remains unclear whether the phrase was spoken by a pilot or air-traffic controller, though it may have referred to Runway 33's lighting switching from pitch black to brightly lit.
