Treasury Department ends contracts with Booz Allen Hamilton after Trump's taxes leak

The department said that it has 31 contracts with Booz Allen Hamilton totaling $4.8 million in annual spending

he Treasury Department has ended its contracts with Booz Allen Hamilton after a former contractor leaked tax information of President Trump and thousands of the country’s wealthiest people.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a statement that the firm “failed to implement adequate safeguards to protect sensitive data, including the confidential taxpayer information it had access to through its contracts with the Internal Revenue Service,” The Associated Press reported Monday.

The department said that it has 31 contracts with Booz Allen Hamilton, a business mangement and consuting firm, totaling $4.8 million in annual spending and $21 million in total obligations.

In 2024, Charles Edward Littlejohn of Washington, D.C., a former IRS contractor who worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to leaking tax information about Trump and others to news outlets.

Littlejohn gave tax data to The New York Times and ProPublica between 2018 and 2020 in leaks that prosecutors said appeared to be “unparalleled in the IRS’s history.”
