Please hear me. Right now, religious and secular influencers, pro-life leaders, and political pundits are working hard to keep you as upset as possible about what is happening in places like Minnesota and elsewhere. None of this will help anyone get to heaven. They want you to think you must have an opinion, and that their opinion is the one that matters. You do not have to have an opinion. You can feel compassion even for people you believe are making a mistake.
Living the Beatitudes is not easy, and it’s precisely in moments like this—when the seduction toward anger and faction is so strong—that we must resist. Lord, have mercy. ✝️
