The organization advocates for "beings who are romantically or sexually attracted to beings who are below the age of 18."
According to its website, the group describes "minor attraction" as a sexual orientation, similar to heterosexuality and homosexuality, and claims that "MAPS" are among the "world's most marginalized people."
"A number of MAPs, usually ones who are intersectional with other queer identities (though not always), consider age-based attractions to be another, less recognized type of orientation," its website states. "Importantly, this only refers to attractions, without implying harmful or illegal actions - most MAPs are law-abiding and don't want to harm anyone any more than non-MAPs do. However, due to intense social stigma, the overwhelming majority of these MAPs remain closeted and are never known to be MAPs unless involuntarily outed. This lack of visibility is what allows harmful misconceptions and stereotypes to persist."
Photos shared by Reduxx show Kotetsu, who also identifies as Japanese despite being a white male, sitting at the group's information booth with another trans-identifying male colleague. Rainbow colored pamphlets can be observed on the table, as well as LGBTQ+ buttons that symbolize various paraphilias such as pedophilia, necrophilia, and sadomasochism.
BTP's event policy urges its members to keep its meetups as secret as possible, stating that "giving the exact time and place is subject to harassment by some people," according to its website. Additionally, the group celebrates "Alice Day," a holiday that was created by online pedophiles to celebrate pedophilia each year on April 25.
The group's terms of service state that it is forbidden to discriminate against "age attraction."

Alice Michael Attwood is using social media while waiting to be sentenced for aggravated assault and assault with a weapon in a Grande Prairie case involving his two children, drawing attention for talking openly about what he called a “heinous” act.
In a video posted online, Attwood — a male transitioning into a woman — told viewers he is “being safe and being secure” and is “just chilling” until he goes to court for sentencing.
He said most people who commit serious crimes are “locked in a box and blocked out from society,” but he remains visible online.
Attwood acknowledged he must “answer for it,” claimed he will not hurt anyone else, and asked followers what should be done with what he called a “unique opportunity.”
A publication ban has been issued on the exact nature of his crimes.
Social media users have posted Attwood is now in Calgary. Facebook and Twitter posts are being used to warn residents.
A date for his sentencing hasn't been set.
CBSA seizes more than 1,000 kg of narcotics at Coutts border crossing

CBSA officers at the Coutts port of entry in southern Alberta seized a total of 1,010 kg of narcotics from three separate commercial trucks in late 2025, including cocaine, methamphetamine, suspected heroin, and dode (opium poppies).
Authorities are just revealing details of the November arrest and haven't released any names of the people involved.
On November 26, a truck carrying electrolyte beverages destined for Calgary was searched with the help of the CBSA’s Detector Dog Service, resulting in the seizure of 461 kg of cocaine, 43 kg of suspected heroin, and 1 gram of opium hidden in the cab.
The driver was arrested for smuggling.
A second truck inspected on December 2, hauling an empty trailer, yielded 300 kg of cocaine and 400 grams of suspected dode.
The driver was arrested.
On December 18, officers examined a truck carrying vacuum parts, again with the assistance of the Detector Dog Service, and discovered 206 kg of methamphetamine concealed inside.
That driver was also arrested for smuggling.

A 13-year-old Alberta boy who attempted to kill his younger brother by stabbing him several times was given a three-year sentence, the maximum permitted under the Youth Justice Criminal Act.
The boy was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault and pleaded guilty to attempted murder. He cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The child will serve an Intensive Rehabilitative Custody and Supervision (IRCS) sentence, which involves mental health treatment.
The IRCS program is designed for youth who have a mental illness or disorder, psychological disorder, or an emotional disturbance and have been convicted of a violent crime, including murder and attempted murder, according to the federal government.
Justice Ryan Anderson divided the sentence into two years of secure custody and one year of conditional supervision.
Crown prosecutor Lauren Atkinson said the offender has expressed remorse for the stabbing, and noted that he has “several diagnoses” that have not been addressed up to this point. Details of the boy’s diagnoses were not released. Continue…

York Regional Police are asking for the public’s help finding a suspect in a fake kidnapping and ransom scam involving a missing youth, who was later located.
Police say they are looking for a man between 18 and 25 years old who possibly uses the name Guan Yu Wu. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket and glasses. Police have released a photo of the suspect.
The victim received a call in January from an unknown individual who claimed to be from China, according to police. The caller said the youth had been implicated in a money laundering investigation and was told to contact Chinese police to clear his name. The victim was also advised to avoid Canadian police and cease communication with his family until the alleged investigation was finished.
The youth was told to meet with an alleged Chinese police representative on Feb. 2 at a commercial plaza. When the victim arrived, he was told by a man that he needed to be brought to a safe house in Mississauga until the investigation wrapped up.
The victim went with the man to a house that police say was later found to be an Airbnb rental.
The youth was contacted by an unknown person on Feb. 4 and told he could go home and the investigation was completed. The victim left the house and after arriving home notified York Regional Police. The youth was not injured in the incident, police said. Continue…

A foreign national is facing charges linked to what Canada’s border agency is labelling the largest narcotics seizure in the history of British Columbia’s Abbotsford-Huntingdon port of entry.
Canadian border guards caught a man attempting to smuggle a “significant amount” of methamphetamine from the United States at the B.C. crossing last November, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said in a Feb. 10 press release this week to announce the charges.
Border officers using detector dogs to inspect a commercial vehicle re-entering Canada from the United States on Nov. 22, 2025, found 12 boxes containing 314 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in the truck and trailer.
“This is the largest narcotics seizure to date at the Abbotsford-Huntingdon port of entry,” CBSA Regional Director General Nina Patel said in the release.
The man was arrested under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and transferred to the custody of the RCMP, the border agency said.

Canadian teens are among the least likely in the world to report high levels of “problematic” social media use, according to a new study from McGill University.
The study, conducted by Zékai Lu, a PhD student in McGill’s department of sociology, looked at data from 171,500 adolescents across 41 countries, and compared their social media use and health indicators.
Problematic social media use, as defined by the study, was measured using nine factors also observed in internet addiction and gaming disorders, such as withdrawal, deception, and neglect of daily life.
Meanwhile, strong family relationships, supportive friendships, and healthy daily habits, such as regular physical activity, significantly reduced the risk of problematic social media use, the study noted.

Canada’s parliamentary budget officer says the federal health-care program used by asylum claimants will cost more than $1.5 billion annually within the next five years.
Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) Jason Jacques estimated in a Feb. 12 report that the total cost of the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) will reach nearly $1 billion this fiscal year and increase to more than $1.5 billion by fiscal 2029-30.
The PBO compiled the report in response to an audit request by the health committee, which is studying the impact of immigration policy on health care. The committee asked the PBO to conduct a fiscal analysis of program to “project future expenses and assess the drivers behind recent significant cost and usage increases.”
The IFHP provides temporary health care coverage to “some groups of foreign nationals who are vulnerable and disadvantaged, and aren’t eligible for provincial or territorial health insurance,” Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) says. Continue…

…Justin VanRootselaar has issued a statement to the media about the tragedy and has requested that it be printed in its entirety. It says:
There are moments when words feel far too small for the sorrow we are carrying together. What has happened has left an ache in the heart of our town that will not soon fade. In a place where we know each other by name, where we pass one another in the grocery store and gather at the same community events, this loss feels deeply personal to us all.
To the families who have lost loved ones, and to every person who has been affected by this senseless and unforgivable act of violence, I offer my most heartfelt condolences. I cannot begin to imagine the depth of your grief. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, and that I share in the profound sadness that has settled over our community.
As the biological father of the individual responsible, I carry a sorrow that is difficult to put into words. I was estranged from Jesse Strang and was not part of his life. His mother declined my involvement from the beginning, and I was not given the opportunity to be a part of raising him. Jesse did not use the VanRootselaar family name at any point in his life. While that distance is the reality of our relationship, it does not lessen the heartbreak I feel for the pain that has been caused to innocent people and to the town we call home.
This is a time for compassion, for holding one another close, and for supporting the families who are grieving such unimaginable loss.

Why were seized firearms returned to home of Tumbler Ridge mass shooter? Canada's 'Red Flag' law, explained

In a Facebook update in August 2024, the mother of the Tumbler Ridge suspected shooter posted a photo of rifles in a gun cabinet. “Think it’s time to take them out for some target practice,” the caption reads.
If the photo is authentic, it has left Dr. Alan Drummond, a long-time advocate for tighter gun control, asking: “How can this home have even one gun, let alone five or six?”
Police revealed this week that firearms had, in the past, been seized from, and then later returned to, the home of Jesse Van Rootselaar, believed responsible for a horrific shooting spree that left eight dead, including five schoolchildren ages 12 to 13.
Police have not disclosed what those weapons were, or who owned them. However, many are asking why guns were returned to the home of someone with a history of mental illness — someone whom police had apprehended multiple times in the past under a provincial Mental Health Act, meaning they were a potential threat to themselves or others.
