i have noticed that many of the emails in the fbi dumps have errant characters in them. lots of different letters replaced by "=".

i am curious if this is an artifact of some ingestion tool they used, or corruption on the original media, or my theory part of some coded communication within the 'innocuous' messages.

for example in this one, a 'p' and an 'o' are replaced by =.
