Cannes is May 12-23. I am at The Carlton. Writing my Cannes Diary for the thinJ year.
Talk to Graydon…he is going. 1will keep you posted but I think it will be a good year. Michael Douglas and cast (Wall Street) and Julian Schnabel (Miral) are going to Cannes too.
Ilas to be better than the Oscars. 10 films and no big stars except Clooney who didn't go to one party and Meryl and Sigoumey Weaver who are my age and stayed home too.
How many times can you say "Hi" to Vera Fannigia and Anna Kendrick? Had a ball anyway.
Visited Jeffrey Epstein today in Palm Beach. He has four more months of house arrest July 20 he is out of Florida for good.
On to Paris and Dubia…etc.

Or want to eat another night with the and Tommy Cohen?
Also, do you know David Simon? Jewish. born in Bagdad, grew up in Bombay till 15, them family moved to London. Has mid-East. first wife Etc. and 3 grown kids. First Westerner into Russia. Billionaire in metals and oil…worked in China. North Korea.
Has villa in Cannes and 242 foot boat 'Siren" built two years ago. Brother Simon has hugh villa in St. Tropez.
Very low key nice guy I sat next to at Richard LeFrak's dinner for 100 at Maralogo last night.

Believe it or not I'm invited to a small dinner (24) with obama at white house april 6 after a screening of a film I am involved with (haven't seen it) on nuclear terrorism and proliferation. Going with gang that got him his nobel. So dinner with Tommey Cohen, yes! Which son of Kay's runs the Post-I thought it was Steven. Would love to meet ANY professor
ofEnglish. All I read now is poetics poetry and english criticism under the guidance of an ex who is now a full professor and a famous poet.
Re: Simon don't u mean Simon Reuben? Who is a friend ofmine? When u say the brother simon? He was first in russia made billions in metals baghdad-everything. Just had dinner with simon reuben in london at gago opening.may 12 I need to be in de prob for nuclear stuff but could fly that night-when is of party-i will be back and forth to europe all year. Washington Post is run by Donald. Lally writes for Newsweek. Stephen is the poetry/English professor who teaches at Bard…and very brilliant quirky. lie is also on board of Second Stage. I can set a dinner with them. He has a plane, bought his mother's estate in Virginia and gorgous house in Nantucket.
Cannes starts on night of May 12. I arrive Friday,May 14th morning at 8:20am and goes to Sunday, May 23rd, closing night.
I will let you know when "Wall Street 2" screens. Graydon is in it. Also Julian Schnable's film…and any other hot films.
Graydon's party is Saturday, May 15th. You must come for "Wall Stree" and VF party.
I sat next to David Rueben at the LeFrars dinner last night at Maralogo. He is Simon's brother. Ile is very smart and nice. He has a hugh villa above The Carlton and a 242 foot boat, Siren. Read the Fortune magazine cover story on the Reubens in Russian of about 15 years ago during the Aluminum Wars. Simon says unfair and untrue. And I believe Simon, But what is clear is that this was kgb gangland warfare by proxy. As rough as it gets. They were very lucky to get out with their money, unharmed. It'll make your eyes pop.
