In a 2019 fan poll conducted by Kerrang! magazine, thousands of Metallica fans voted for the most underrated Metallica songs of all time. The track "Bleeding Me" came in second place overall.
The top results were:
The Outlaw Torn (Load, 1996) — the winner.
Bleeding Me (Load, 1996).
Fixxxer (Reload, 1997).
(And others like "Dyer's Eve," etc., followed in the top 10.)
This poll got some attention at the time, including a share from Metallica's official accounts, and it's often referenced in discussions about underrated tracks from the Load/Reload era. "Bleeding Me" frequently gets called out by fans as a standout epic from that period (with its dynamic build, emotional lyrics, and strong guitar work), but it doesn't get the mainstream love of hits like "Enter Sandman" or "Nothing Else Matters."
I prefer Outlaw Torn to be honest, but Bleeding Me is pretty solid.
