The KC-135 Stratotanker helps U.S. Air Force pilots fly farther and stay longer in the air. They can transfer over 200,000 pounds of fuel before landing. One crewmember, known as a boom operator, is stationed in the rear of the plane and transfers the fuel to other aircraft through a refueling boom.
