The House Oversight Committee’s deposition of Ghislaine Maxwell ended less than an hour after it began on Monday morning, when the convicted accomplice of the late Jeffrey Epstein pleaded the Fifth Amendment.

Maxwell appeared before lawmakers virtually for a closed-door interview in the House bipartisan probe into the federal government’s handling of Epstein’s case.

She is currently serving out a 20-year sentence at a Texas prison.

Both House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., a member of the committee, said they expected Maxwell to plead the Fifth Amendment in the lead-up to her scheduled sit-down.

Foreign NGOs are allegedly preparing a ‘color revolution’ targeting Moscow’s key ally

Western NGOs are preparing a new wave of anti-government protests in Belarus, which could be timed to coincide with the 2030 presidential election, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) warned on Monday.

An attempt to overturn the result of the 2020 elections led to violent clashes throughout the country, but order was eventually restored. According to the SVR, Western sponsors were disappointed in the leaders of the riots, and are actively looking for new people to try and topple Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

“NGOs in Western nations, including ‘democratizing’ structures, agencies and foundations in the US as well as Britain, Germany, Poland and other European nations are building up assets to again attempt to destabilize the situation and change the constitutional order in Belarus,” the statement said.

In order to acheive a ‘color revolution,’ Western organizations are taking the stock of opposition activists in Belarus, the SVR said. Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, the central figure of the 2020 protests, and other people currently based in Lithuania and Poland “have demonstrated in the past years an absolute inability to influence political processes in their home nation in any way,” the agency said.

The SVR does not expect Belarusian citizens to support any foreign destabilization operation, because they have seen “the examples of Ukraine, Moldova and other nations destroyed in the name of Western geopolitical ambitions under slogans calling for the protection of democracy and human rights.”

The warning follows a thaw in the relationship between the Lukashenko government and the administration of US President Donald Trump. In recent months, Washington secured the release of dozens of Belarusian activists who had been sentenced for their roles in the 2020 riots.

The freed individuals included Tikhanovskaya’s husband Sergey, who was barred from running in the 2020 election and jailed for inciting an insurgency. Since his release, he has prodded supporters with video statements complaining that they were failing to donate enough money to the anti-Lukashenko cause.

Last October, the Lithuanian government downgraded Tikhanovskaya’s state-provided personal security, which was initially offered due to her supposed status as the legitimate head of Belarus.

Her office said she may be forced to move to Poland because of this, which Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginiene said was the political exile’s “personal business,” adding “I see neither benefit nor loss here.” She stressed that the Belarusian opposition is larger than Tikhanovskaya.

Kyndryl Collapses On Accounting Review, CFO Exit As Analysts Brand IBM-Spinoff A "Disaster"

Shares in Kyndryl, an IBM spinoff and IT infrastructure services provider, crashed on Monday after the company warned investors that it is reviewing certain accounting practices amid an inquiry from the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company also posted third-quarter results that missed Bloomberg Consensus estimates and disclosed what JPMorgan analysts described as a "surprise" departure of its CFO.

Kyndryl stock crashed as much as 57%, its biggest one-day drop on record. Shares traded at their lowest level since November 2022 after the company disclosed an SEC inquiry into certain accounting practices.

In a filing, Kyndryl said it "anticipates reporting material weaknesses in the Company's internal control over financial reporting for the period covered in the Quarterly Report, as well as for the full fiscal year ended March 31, 2025, and the first two fiscal quarters of fiscal year 2026."

This is "expected to include, but may not be limited to, the effectiveness and strength of certain functions at the Company, including with respect to controls related to information and communication and tone at the top," the filing noted.

The information technology services provider that works with hyperscalers also announced that CFO David Wysher and general counsel Edward Sebold had left the company.

On top of that, third-quarter results missed Bloomberg consensus estimates, and the company lowered its full-year outlook for both adjusted EBITDA margin and adjusted pretax profit.

First, these depositions allow professional staff to conduct questioning in a methodical and professional manner.

In a public hearing, questioning is conducted by members who are often ill-equipped for substantive inquiries.

Second, the Clintons must be asked about a range of documents and communications that contain names and privacy-protected information.

At a public hearing, the use of such documents would trigger redactions and interruptions.

Third, these depositions allow for in-depth questioning on transactions and communications.

In a public hearing, members are confined to a five-minute rule that guarantees questioning cannot achieve much, if any, depth.

Those are all reasons the Clintons want a public hearing in which members, not staff, ask questions under tight time limits. It produces superficial examinations with little ability to pursue substantive conflicts or issues.

Illegal Vegas ‘Biolab’ Linked to Chinese and Israeli Nationals Leaves Several People ‘Deathly Ill.’

Authorities in Las Vegas, Nevada, are investigating a suspected illegal biological laboratory discovered in a residential home in the Sunrise Manor area that also operated as an Airbnb. Court documents obtained by KLAS indicate that several people who spent time inside the property became “deathly ill.”

The investigation gained momentum following a tip to authorities, including reports from a former house cleaner who entered the locked garage and noted a foul, hospital-like smell—described as stale and stagnant rather than clean. Several days later, two people reportedly became gravely ill after exposure to the area.

On January 31, 2026, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) executed search warrants at the home on Sugar Springs Drive, along with another property. The multi-day operation, concluding early on February 2, uncovered what police described as a “possible biological laboratory.” Items recovered included refrigerators and freezers containing vials with unknown liquids—some reddish or red-brown—along with bio-safety equipment, centrifuges, and other materials stored in a locked garage.

More than 1,000 pieces of evidence and unidentified substances were collected and submitted for testing at FBI laboratories to determine their nature and any potential hazards. LVMPD Sheriff Kevin McMahill noted during a press conference that the items appear “consistent in appearance” with those recovered from a similar alleged biolab case in Reedley, California, in 2023, where materials were linked to possible infectious diseases such as hepatitis, COVID-19, and HIV. Notably, the California and Nevada properties are owned by the same person.

The probe has resulted in charges against two foreign nationals. The first suspect is property owner David He, a Chinese national possibly tied to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) who is already in federal custody related to the California case, and has pleaded not guilty to associated charges. The second suspect is Ori Solomon, the property manager for the Sugar Springs Drive property and another property on Temple View Drive. Solomon, who holds French and Israeli passports and is in the U.S. on a non-immigrant visa, was initially booked into the Clark County Detention Center on state charges of disposing of and discharging hazardous waste. He also faces federal accusations of illegally possessing firearms.

A federal judge later ordered Solomon’s release on personal recognizance bond, with conditions including surrendering his passports and restrictions on travel.

The Trump administration will send an initial payment toward billions in overdue United Nations dues within weeks.

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Mike Waltz told Fox News Digital the payment comes with strings attached. He rejected claims that America bears responsibility for the organization’s cash crisis.

“The United States pays to the U.N. system more than 180 countries combined,” Waltz said. “We have historically been the largest supporter of the U.N., but under President Trump, we’re demanding reform.”

Waltz said the administration’s pressure has already produced results. The U.N. agreed to cut nearly 3,000 headquarters positions and approved its first budget reduction in 80 years. The organization also plans to reduce global peacekeeping forces by 25%.

The U.S. owes roughly $2.19 billion to the U.N.’s regular budget as of early February, according to Reuters. America also carries an additional $2.4 billion in unpaid peacekeeping assessments and $43.6 million for U.N. tribunals.

President Donald Trump signed a spending bill Feb. 3 that includes $3.1 billion for U.S. dues to the U.N. and other international organizations.

Norway Ambassador Resigns Amid Reports of Family Receiving Epstein Millions

A Norwegian ambassador who was involved in Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts in the 1990s and most recently served in Jordan has resigned as she faces scrutiny over her contacts with Jeffrey Epstein, the country’s Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry announced Mona Juul’s resignation on Sunday evening, days after she was suspended as Norway’s ambassador to Jordan. That followed reports that Epstein left the children of Juul and her husband, Terje Rød-Larsen, $10 million in a will drawn up shortly before his death by suicide in a New York prison in 2019.

Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said Juul’s decision was “correct and necessary.” Her contact with the convicted sex offender showed a “serious lapse in judgment,” he said, adding that “the case makes it difficult to restore the trust that the role requires.”

A ministry investigation into Juul’s knowledge of and contact with Epstein will continue, and Juul will continue discussions with the ministry “so that the matter can be clarified,” Eide said.

The ministry said it also launched a review of its funding of and contact with the International Peace Institute, a New York-based think tank, during the period when it was headed by Rød-Larsen. Eide said Rød-Larsen also had shown poor judgment regarding Epstein.

Rød-Larsen and Juul were among those involved in facilitating the landmark Oslo Accords aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the 1990s.

The raid, based on intelligence collected in recent weeks, began late on February 8 and was wrapped up shortly after midnight, and there were no reports of any clashes.

“The terrorist was detained and transferred for further interrogation within Israeli territory. In addition, weapons were located in the building where the terrorist was arrested,” the military added.

The Islamic Group is the Lebanese branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Sunni group’s military wing, the al-Fajr Forces, has fought alongside Hezbollah and Hamas branch in Lebanon against the IDF after the outbreak of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip in October of 2023.

An Israeli military source told the Times of Israel that the IDF decided to capture the operative instead of targeting him in a strike in an attempt to obtain intelligence on the group’s activities in Lebanon and Syria.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has told an event honouring the Bondi victims that antisemitism has been "festering" in Australia since the October 7 attack in Israel.

Mr Herzog attended an evening event on Monday at Sydney's International Convention Centre where he was welcomed with a large applause.

It is part of his four-day visit to Australia at the invitation of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the governor-general following the December 14 terrorist attack where 15 people, mostly Jewish Australians, were killed at a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach.

Mr Herzog told the large crowd that several incidents had laid the groundwork.

"We all remember the boycotts, the threats, the colleagues who turned their backs on their Jewish friends … that was the prelude to Bondi," he said.

"It is not an isolated event … your Jewish identities became targets."

The president called for unity between the two countries and welcomed moves by state and federal governments to strengthen hate speech laws in the wake of the Bondi attack.

He said the October 7 attack in Israel had emboldened closeted antisemites in Australia.
