DHS Shutdown Talks Stall As Democrats Reject GOP Offer, Thune Signals Stopgap May Be Needed
With Republicans demanding election integrity, and Democrats demanding ICE reform, it looks like the Department of Homeland Security may shut down again on Friday after Democratic leaders rejected a White House-backed GOP counterproposal to keep the lights on - which may require a short-term stopgap if they can't agree on something by Friday.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said the GOP proposal is “woefully inadequate” and shows the White House “is clearly not open to” several Democratic priorities aimed at tightening oversight of immigration enforcement.
Jeffries said the offer failed to address requirements for judicial warrants, detention center standards, independent investigations and excessive-force rules. Asked whether the administration would support a ban on federal agents wearing masks, Jeffries said, “That’s an open question.”
“They don’t appear to be open to … ensuring that ICE agents are identifiable in a manner consistent with every other law enforcement agency in the country,” Jeffries said, according to Politico.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, a government shutdown would make the country less secure, affecting TSA, FEMA, ICE, and Border Patrol operations. Acting ICE Director Lyons said that task forces targeting terrorism and transnational crime would be hit hardest.

The latest development in the Epstein Files fallout has clearly proven that the Trump administration’s best attempts to continue to cover up the crimes of Epstein and his accomplices are no match for Massie’s vigilance. After granting members of Congress access to view unredacted versions of the Epstein Files in response to the pressure mounted by Massie, the revelations therein have shown the lengths that the Trump Department of Justice (”DOJ”) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (”FBI”) have taken to continue the Epstein cover-up, going as far as to break federal law in an increasingly futile attempt to keep the truth from the American public.
The enhanced political pressure from Massie and California representative Ro Khanna following their success in passing The Epstein Files Transparency Act resulted in the Trump DOJ deciding to allow members of Congress to view unredacted files beginning on Monday morning. Members of Congress have been given limited access to view unredacted versions of the Epstein Files on computers at DOJ offices, provided they give 24 hours’ notice, though they will not be given access to the physical documents themselves. The DOJ has limited access to members of Congress alone, excluding any members of their staff. Although members of Congress will be able to take notes on any files they view, the DOJ has prohibited them from bringing any electronic devices into their review sessions. Unredacted documents made accessible to members of Congress are also limited to the trove of over 3 million files that have been released to the public, far short of the full scope of the more than 6 million files the DOJ has said it has in its possession.
Despite being given such limited access, the revelations included in what has been made available have led to a monumental shift that disproves the Trump administration’s narrative that the action it has been taken on the Epstein Files has been made with the aim of providing full transparency. According to representatives Massie and Khanna, they have identified at least six individuals incriminated in Epstein’s crimes, two of whom the FBI has officially labeled as co-conspirators, in the limited time allocated to them on the first day of being able to review the unredacted files whose identities have been obfuscated by the Trump administration despite their apparent complicity. Of those officially acknowledged as a co-conspirator is high-profile Epstein associate and billionaire Les Wexner, whose confirmation as such opens the door to criminal charges being brough against against high-ranking members of the Trump administration.

US To Fund Free Speech Initiatives In Europe, Trump Official Reveals
The Trump administration announced plans to direct funding toward promoting free speech in Western allied democracies, a senior State Department official said on Monday. The initiative bolsters efforts to counter European online regulations categorized by Washington as censorship.
Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy Sarah Rogers discussed the initiative during a trip to Europe. It includes grants to support free expression, a result of concerns about rules such as the European Union’s Digital Services Act and Britain’s Online Safety Act.
These laws, which E.U. officials say aim to deter hate speech and misinformation, have been scrutinized by U.S. officials as restricting the free speech of American tech firms and suppressing immigration policy critiques.
“One way my office is going to operate differently is we’re going to be very forthright and transparent about everything we do,” Rogers said during a panel discussion in Budapest on Monday. She added that her role allows directing U.S. funding through grants, stating, “I want to promote free speech in Western allied democracies, and … that’s what my grantmaking is going to be doing.”
Rogers, appearing alongside a top aide to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, underscored the importance of free speech for democracy.
“The United States government, via me, but not only me, has been engaging aggressively on the issue of free speech, because you don’t have self-governance without freedom of speech, you can’t have a democratic deliberation if viewpoints are proscribed from the public square,” she said.
Rogers is scheduled to stop in Dublin, Budapest, Warsaw, and Munich to discuss digital freedoms with officials and others.
The administration’s December National Security Strategy said that European leaders were censoring speech and suppressing opposition to immigration policies, warning of the continent’s “civilizational erasure.”
Rogers said European polls showing European views on migration are similar to those in the United States.
The United States imposed last month visa bans on a former European Union commissioner and four anti-disinformation activists. The administration labeled them agents of censorship for working to regulate U.S. social media platforms. European leaders lambasted the bans. They defended the commissioner and activists’ rights to push for regulations on foreign companies operating locally.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed the designations on Dec. 23, 2025. He called the individuals “agents of the global censorship-industrial complex” and blocked their entry to the United States.

Claims by Western media that US financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein may have had ties to Russian intelligence are little more than gutter journalism, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.
The diplomat was responding to unproven recent allegations in Western media and comments by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk suggesting that Epstein may have been a Russian intelligence asset.
Officials in Moscow have said allegations linking Epstein to Russian intelligence are being deliberately amplified to divert attention from a scandal that has exposed the hypocrisy of powerful figures in the US and Europe.
“You’re drifting into yellow journalism. This isn’t even worth discussing. It’s an attempt to provoke irritation in countries that certain circles in other countries happen not to like,” Lavrov said in an interview with NTV aired on Sunday.
He added that such speculation was aimed at influencing both the Republican and Democratic parties in the US, as well as governments in Europe.
“[Recruiting Epstein] never interested us at all. Instead, they’re trying to hunt for some kind of Russian trace in this heap of millions of pages,” the minister stated.
Last month, the US Department of Justice released a large trove of emails, photos, and videos from the Epstein estate, prompting renewed scrutiny of high-profile individuals who associated with Epstein despite his conviction for sex crimes.
Epstein’s decadent lifestyle and that of his inner circle stand as evidence of the moral decay of Western elites, Lavrov said. The files, he added, “have exposed the true face of the West and the deep state – or rather a deep union that governs the entire West and seeks to rule the world.”
Commenting on the issue, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also dismissed Western media reports, saying, “I’d like to joke about such versions, but let’s not waste our time.”

Report: Netanyahu received intel on Hamas plan to invade southern Israel as early as 2018

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was presented with IDF intelligence reports detailing Hamas’s plans to invade Israel as early as April 2018, according to a Tuesday report citing intelligence documents and senior officials.
The report, published by the Ynet news site, said that between 2018 and 2022, Hamas developed a comprehensive operational blueprint for a coordinated, multifront attack against Israeli military bases and civilian communities in southern Israel. The attack plan, which was later put together in a document known as “Jericho’s Walls,” envisioned breaching the Gaza border at dozens of points and deploying thousands of fighters.
It was ultimately executed with deadly effect on October 7, 2023, when Hamas led a devastating invasion of southern Israel, killing some 1,200 people, kidnapping 251 hostages, and sparking two years of war in Gaza.
According to the report, Netanyahu — who has served as prime minister since 2009, save for 18 months in 2021-2022 — was given intelligence about Hamas’s “Jericho’s Walls” plans several times over those years, despite his repeated public denials that he had ever seen or heard of such a plan before the October 7 attack.
The earliest known transfer of the plan to Israeli leadership, according to the report, occurred in April 2018, when the Military Intelligence Directorate’s Research Division distributed a special intelligence document to senior officials. Those officials included the military secretaries of the prime minister and defense minister, the National Security Council, the heads of the Shin Bet and Mossad, and the IDF chief of staff’s office.
According to the documents cited by Ynet, the 2018 report asked the following question in its subheading: “Is Hamas’s military wing building up its force for a broad attack deep into our territory?”
Ynet said the Prime Minister’s Office did not respond to requests for comment.
Ynet said the intelligence report warned that Hamas was developing “a plan for an initiated offensive maneuver with a broad order of [troops in] battle (six reserve battalions; approximately 3,000 fighters)” aimed at overrunning IDF bases while simultaneously attacking civilian targets “in the border communities and deep inside Israel.”
The 2018 report stressed the seriousness of the threat, emphasizing that “the scope of the plan and its complexity are exceptional.” While some analysts who contributed to the report expressed doubt that Hamas could actually carry out the plan in full, they cautioned that “the plan illustrates a new and broader threat scenario than before.”
The veracity of the 2018 “Jericho’s Walls” report referenced by Ynet was confirmed by the IDF last year in a probe by its Military Intelligence Directorate of the intelligence failures leading up to the October 7 attack.
That report, presaging key elements of the October 7 attack, quoted the Hamas plan as saying that “forces from five [elite] Nukhba companies should attack and destroy the posts belonging to the [IDF] Gaza Division… everything will be done above ground… with [rocket] fire… attack the kibbutzim in order to take hostages… focus on critical sites… livestream from the posts and kibbutzim.”

IDF readying new Gaza offensive to disarm Hamas by force
Plans being drawn up for large-scale op, with terror group seen as unlikely to give up weapons otherwise; for now, IDF holding tight on Yellow Line, amid ‘endless’ tunnel demolition
Four months into a ceasefire with Hamas, the Israeli military is drawing up plans for a renewed offensive in the Gaza Strip to disarm the terror group by force, The Times of Israel has learned.
The US-brokered ceasefire plan reached in October foresees the demilitarization of Gaza, including the disarmament of Hamas, along with a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Strip. However, implementation of the plan has remained unclear, with Israeli officials increasingly believing that stripping Hamas of its weapons will be impossible without the Israel Defense Forces taking action.
Should hostilities renew, fighting is liable to be more intense and more widespread than previous rounds, as Israeli forces will no longer constrained by the presence of hostages on Gazan soil.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump have both insisted that the terror group must give up its weapons in the near future. Trump has repeatedly asserted that Hamas “promised” to lay down its arms, and has threatened the group over the issue.

I’ve been building an open database of the Epstein case files for the past few months. Not to push any theory — just to make the raw data cross-referenceable. Once you connect the flight logs to the court documents to the emails to the black book, patterns start appearing that you can’t see when you’re reading individual PDFs.
The scale of it:
1,708 flights (1997–2019, including post-conviction flights through his arrest day)
6,180 court documents, DOJ releases, and EFTA files with full OCR text search
2,700 indexed emails from court releases
1,438 named individuals with documented connections mapped between them

What jumped out:
The network graph is the part that keeps me up at night. When you map every shared flight, every co-appearance in documents, every email chain — you get a visualization of Epstein’s actual network. Not the media version where they show the same 10 photos. The real one. With 1,438 nodes and thousands of edges.
Some observations:
— The inner circle was tiny. Sarah Kellen (338 flights), Nadia Marcinkova (110), Lesley Groff (82), and Ghislaine Maxwell operated as a near-constant logistics team on almost every flight. If you remove these 4 people from the network graph, the whole thing fragments.
— Post-conviction flying actually increased in some years. 2015 was one of the peak years for flights to the USVI. He had 136 documented flights that year alone. The 2008 plea deal didn’t slow him down.
— The 2013–2019 passenger gap is suspicious. There are 835 documented flights in this period from FAA and ADS-B tracking data — we know the planes flew. But no passenger manifests have been released for this period. The government has the data (seized computers, the Little Saint James logbook, boat logs). They just haven’t released it.
— Degrees of separation are disturbingly short. I built a tool that finds the shortest documented path between any two people in the database. Most people in the network are connected through 2–3 links. Pick any two names and the tool traces the chain through shared flights and court document co-appearances with source links for every step.
— The document clusters tell different stories. The Giuffre v. Maxwell materials name a completely different set of people than the NPA (non-prosecution agreement) files, which name a different set than the financial records. The overlap between these clusters is smaller than you’d expect.
— Some black book entries never appear anywhere else. Of the 1,438 people in the database, some have 14 phone numbers in the black book but zero flight appearances and zero document mentions. Others have no black book entry but show up on 30+ flights. The two datasets paint very different pictures.

The thing that bothers me most isn’t what’s in the files. It’s what’s still missing. The DOJ claims to have released “all” records under the EFTA, but they’re still holding the island visitor logbook, the boat trip logs, 40 seized computers, 70+ CDs, and a computerized database. And somehow, not a single passenger manifest after August 2013 has been made public despite 835 documented flights between then and his arrest.
