It should not come as a surprise to see the Senator who lost her 2010 primary,then refused to leave congress and ran as a write in candidate; then supported changing the state voting system to a ranked choice structure; who then lost again in2022 but ultimately won because Democrats all listed her as their second choicein the new structure; come out against anything that would lead to stronger voting requirements.

Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski has now pledged to vote against the SAVE Act.The SAVE Act would bar states from registering a person to vote unless they provide documentsor evidence proving U.S. citizenship. It would also require all Americans to present ID when they go to vote.The SAVE Act is supported by President Trump and strongly opposed by GOPe members of the UniParty.

WASHINGTON — Sen. Lisa Murkowskibecame the first Republican senator to speak out against the SAVE Act, a sweeping election bill backed by President Donald Trump that would require proof of citizenship to vote nationwide.

In doing so, the Alaskan reminded her colleagues on Tuesday that they roundly claimed to oppose new federal election laws as recently as Joe Biden’s presidency.

“When Democrats attempted to advance sweeping election reform legislation in 2021, Republicans were unanimous in opposition because it would have federalized elections, something we have long opposed,” Murkowski said in a statement. “Now, I’m seeing proposals such as the SAVE Act and MEGA that would effectively do just that. Cartel Drone Penetrated U.S. Airspace, Duffy Says — FAA Responded With Deadly‑Force Lockdown

A cartel drone incursion over El Paso prompted the FAA’s unprecedented national‑defense airspace shutdown over El Paso and eastern New Mexico, according to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. The incident raises new questions about cross‑border threats as federal agencies remain silent on the details.

Secretary Duffy says a cartel drone breach forced the FAA to lock down El Paso’s airspace under a deadly‑force order, even as other federal agencies refuse to explain why the emergency was imposed — or why it was lifted within hours. In a post on social media, Duffy wrote: “The FAA and DOW acted swiftly to address a cartel drone incursion. The threat has been neutralized, and there is no danger to commercial travel in the region.”

The secretary announced that the airspace restrictions had been lifted and that all flights had resumed. FAA officials also posted about the sudden lifting of the unprecedented announcement of a ten-day closure of the airspace over El Paso and the surrounding areas.

It is unclear who ordered the ten-day shutdown or what action was taken to address the perceived danger to air traffic around El Paso.

Grooming Gang Survivors Say British Girls Were Trafficked to Pakistan as Sex Slaves 1/2

The predominantly Muslim child rape grooming gangs likely trafficked “countless” British women and girls to their native Pakistan to serve as sex slaves, the head of the independent rape gang inquiry has said.

MP Rupert Lowe, who launched an independent inquiry into the mass child rape that occurred throughout England at the hands of clans of mostly Pakistani Muslim men, has called on the government to launch an investigation into cases of missing girls in grooming areas to determine whether they may have been trafficked to Pakistan as sex slaves.

The inquiry, which began in London last week, heard testimony from rape gang survivors that their abusers had attempted to take them to Pakistan. One victim told the inquiry: “They said they wanted to take me back to meet their families. So luckily I didn’t have a passport, otherwise I might not be sat here right now.”

Lowe said that multiple witness statements havestated that sexually abused girls were being trafficked to Pakistan and elsewhere by their rapists.

“I believe there are currently countless British womenbeing used as sex slaves overseas. This may sound insane. It is not. Look at these gangs. Nobody would have believed the extent of the evil before it was uncovered. This is very real,” the Greater Yarmouth MP said.

“Our inquiry believes that this is the current reality for a terrifying number of women,” Lowe added.

The claims fall in line with previousdisclosures detailing the modus operandi of grooming gangs, which have been frequently accused of trafficking girls to other citiesin England to be abused by other members of their vast networks.

One victim told the Lowe inquiry: “There’s a very big network. It’s in Derby, Birmingham, there’s Sheffield, there’s Newcastle, there’s Leeds, there’s Barnsley. So you’d get taken to, say, Burton, and then he’d take you to a house, and thenthey’d send men in, like a conveyor belt.”

Victims appearing before the inquiry have also testified to the racial and religious element to the sexual abuse, in whichmostly Pakistani Muslim men preyed specifically on white working-class girls, as they were seen as lesser than their Muslim counterparts.

One survivor, who said that she was victimised by “mainly Pakistani” men, told the panel: “They used to, like, tell me things about the good angel and the bad angel that I’ve been, like, kind of possessed. And they’ve got to punish me to get the badness out of me.

Another recounted an instance in which she was taken to the “party house” during the Islamic holiday of Eid, and one of her abusers said that his “relatives were coming from Birmingham to celebrate Eid and they were expecting girls to be waiting here for them.”

The victims,some of whom said that they were abused by hundreds of men, also stressed that the abuse extended far beyond rape, with some telling the inquiry of being drugged, beaten, and having guns put to their heads.

“I’ve had a knife at my throat because he wanted me to ‘sort out’ 10, 15 cars full of men. I’d get kidnapped. I don’t think people realise,I think they think it’s rape, but it was torture as well.I’d be kidnapped and I’d be locked in a room. And I’d be beaten. I’d be told if I don’t do this, I’m not going to go home. So it was a lot more than just rape,” one said.

Local authorities, notably the police and NHS, were also accused in the victim testimonies of being either complicit or at least serving to cover up the crimes committed by the rape gangs. Previous reports have long found that police, social workers, and other local authorities frequently overlooked the atrocities committed by grooming gangs for fear of appearing racist or stoking racial tensions.

One survivor told the Rape Gang Inquiry: “The police didn’t do anything last time. I told them that it was essentially forced.And they smirked at me in my own home and left. So, I mean… there was no evidence that they were going to do anything different, that they were going to actually support us.”

Another said that healthcare workers at the National Health Service failed to take any action after she came in with sexually transmitted diseases at the age of 13 and later with a miscarriage.

Commenting on the alleged complicity, Rupert Lowe said: “I want to see senior police officers in prison. With the evidence we are collecting, there is simply no way hundreds of men and women right at the top of their forces were not aware of the rapes. Hundreds, if not more. Politicians, police, council officials, NHS, social care – all of them.

“If they knew and did nothing, they shouldn’t just be sacked, they should be prosecuted. A lot of people need to go to prison.”

Kurt Cobain was murdered – new forensic probe

Independent experts have challenged the 1994 suicide ruling after reviewing autopsy and crime scene evidence

Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain didn’t kill himself, he was the victim of homicide, according to media reports citing a new investigation.

The grunge superstar died on April 5, 1994, aged 27, in his Seattle home. The official police probe concluded thatCobain had died of a shotgun wound to the head and ruled his death a suicide.(can one actually use a shotgun, it sounds like that would be really hard to do, was this a police coverup?)

The murder conclusion follows a review of autopsyfindings and crime scene materials by a team ofindependent forensic scientists, launched andfinanced by Nirvana fan Michelle Wilkins, the leader of the “Who Killed Kurt?” research group.

The evidence suggests that Cobain, who had struggled with a drug addiction,was incapacitated by a heroin overdose before being shot and the scene staged, Wilkins told the Daily Mail on Tuesday.Autopsy findings showed brain and liver necrosis consistent with oxygen deprivation from overdose, she said.

”The necrosis of the brain and liver happens in an overdose,” Wilkins said. “It doesn’t happen in a shotgun death.”

The team noted thatCobain’s left hand, wrapped around the gun’s barrel, was clean of blood, and bloodstaining on his shirt hem suggested that his body may have been moved. Investigators alsoconcluded that the shotgun would not eject a shell with his hand on the forward barrel, yet a spentshell lay opposite the expected ejection direction.

The Sun also cited analleged eyewitness who claimedhe sawCobain “being manhandled by three men into the greenhouse” before hearing a gunshot half an hour later.

Theteam has called on Seattle authorities to change Cobain’s cause of deathto “undetermined” and reopen the investigation.

Public challenges to the suicide ruling emerged within days of Cobain’s death.Critics claim the rock star could not have injected the lethal heroin doze and then shot himself.

Cobain was survived by his wife, musician Courtney Love, and their daughter, Frances Bean, who was 20 months old at the time.

As Cobain died without a will, his estate passed in full to Love and the child. At the time of his death, the estate was valued at approximately $50 million, comprising songwriting royalties, publishing rights, and personal assets, equivalent to about $109 million in today's money.

US envoy to NATO Matthew Whitaker has likened the bloc’s European members to children,who must eventually leave parental care and get a job.

During its first year, the administration of USPresident Donald Trump repeatedly stated that it would be scaling back commitmentsto countries to Europe, while focusing on “defending the US Homeland and deterring China.”

On Monday, the organizers of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), which is scheduled to take place on February 13-15, stated in their annual report that “for decades, Europe thrived under an American security umbrella that allowed it to prioritize integration and prosperity over hard power.That era has ended.”

Speaking at the presentation of the report,Whitaker said, “I completely reject everything I just heard.”Washington is “not trying to dismantle NATO,” he added, but only wants to see European countries take more responsibility for their defense.

“When your kids are young, they’re dependent on you.But eventually you expect them to get a job. And so to me, that’s where we are. We still love them. You’re still allies,” the envoy told the audience.

Whitaker thanked European NATO members for agreeing to boost military spending to 5% in 2024, but said that they are being too sluggish in turning this money into actual military capabilities.

“One of the things that I’ve noticed in my time here in Europe is there is a lot of discussion and not a lot of action,” he stressed.

Last year, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte drew mockery and accusations of “sucking up” to Trump after he called the American leader “daddy” during the bloc’s summit in The Hague.

Trump appeared to have enjoyed the comparison, telling journalists that it was a sign of affection. “I think he likes me, if he doesn’t, I’ll come back and hit him hard,”Trump joked.

Earlier this week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated that Moscow has “no intention of attacking Europe. There is no reason to do so.” However, NATO would face “a full-fledged military response” if it uses force against Russia first, he warned.

Ukrainian agents illegally bugged investigator probing Zelensky ally – officials

Ukrainian security serviceagents illegally bugged the home of a senior investigatorwith the Western-backed National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), officials announced on Tuesday.

Thetargeted detective leads a team probing defense-sector graft and was involved in NABU’s investigation of businessman Timur Mindich, a longtime ally of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky who was charged with running a $100 million extortion scheme at a state-owned nuclear energy company.

NABU Director Semyon Krivonos commented on the case at a joint briefing with the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO),saying the bug was installed during repairs at the female detective’s home without a court warrant. SAPO head Aleksandr Klimenko said the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) had dedicated “significant resources to probing thedetective’s supposedly undeclared property” in violation of its mandate and the law.

The SBU, Ukraine’s KGB successor, reports directly to the president.NABU and SAPO were created under Western pressure after the 2014 Maidan coupas largely independent bodies meant to keep senior-level corruption in check.

Last year, Zelensky tried to place them under the prosecutor general, a presidential appointee,but reversed the move after Western donors threatened to cut all aid in retaliation.

Mindich, a longtime Zelensky associate, fled to Israel hours before NABU filed charges against him and alleged accomplices. The scandal embroiled two then-serving ministers, resulting in a government reshuffle. Zelensky’s chief of staff, Andrey Yermak, was also forced to resign amid suspicion of involvement.

Zelensky turns to the elderly to fix manpower shortages

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has signed a decree permitting men over the age of 60 to enlist in the military under one-year contracts, as Kiev scramblesto address chronic manpower shortages amid mounting battlefield losses.

Published on Monday, the measure allows older volunteers to serve provided they pass a medical examination and obtain written consent from a unit commander. Candidates for officer positions require additional approval from the General Staff. A two-month probationary period applies, and contracts automatically terminate if martial law is lifted. The move expands upon legislation passed last year that first opened the door to conscripting men who had reached the previous age limit.

The decree comes as Ukraine’s forced mobilization campaign, widely known as ‘busification’, has sparked public outrage and violent street confrontations between draft officers and reluctant recruits. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has suggested that total Ukrainian military casualties, including killed, wounded, missing, and captured, have already exceeded one million.

Zelensky, however, has continued to cite dramatically lower figures. In a recent interview, he claimed only 55,000 Ukrainian troops had been killed since February 2022. The number has been widely ridiculed as implausible, with critics pointing out that between March 2025 and January 2026 alone, nearly 14,000 sets of Ukrainian remains were returned to Kiev through official repatriations with Russia.

Critics suggestthe government is deliberately understating fatalities to avoid paying compensationto families of the fallen. Ukrainian media haveestimated the state is withholding up to $30 billion in owed payments– nearly half of the country’s 2026 military budget. Ukrainian MP Sergey Nagornyak recently acknowledged thatofficials avoid reporting bad news to superiors, leaving the government in a “bubble of lies.”
