Eyewitness video of mysterious craft hovering over El Paso upends Trump administration 'party balloon' claims

Updated: 22:38 EST, 12 February 2026

Claims that US airspace was shut down because of a party balloon have been popped by new video appearing to show a large, hovering UFO over El Paso, Texas.

An eyewitness driving near El Paso International Airport on Tuesday pulled over to record what they described as a mothership floating above the ground in the distance, which was releasing smaller objects from its underside.

The sighting, shared with crowdsourced UFO-reporting platform Enigma, occurred just hours before a large swath of US airspace was abruptly closed for 'special security reasons' at 11.30pm MT on February 10.

The mysterious shut down was originally announced to last for ten days and included all commercial, cargo, and general flights within a ten-mile-wide area roughly five miles southwest of El Paso, from the ground up to 18,000 feet.

However, the chaotic shut down by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was quickly called off, with the Trump Administration changing the story of what triggered the alert multiple times within a matter of hours on Wednesday.

White House officials initially announced the US had taken down a Mexican cartel drone flying across the southern border, only to claim hours later that the object struck by a high-powered laser was a party balloon.

Now, UFO researchers and witnesses in the area have alleged that something other than a balloon or drone was spotted on multiple days near the US-Mexico border before the FAA warning.

'Looks like the mothership. It's huge. And there are stuff coming out from the bottom of it and going off to the left a little bit as it landed,' the driver on Tuesday said.

According to the witness recording the hovering craft, it appeared on video 'like a dot' after moving off far into the distance, but the object was allegedly incredibly large and looked somewhat like 'a blob.'

Enigma, which allows people to report sightings and share pictures or videos of UFOs on an app, also revealed that two other witnesses submitted strange sightings in the El Paso area, one on February 8 and another at 5.46pm ET on the same day as the FAA shut down.

Both sightings involved what the witnesses described as floating orbs high in the sky which were clearly not normal planes or any type of military aircraft.

'Every time I use my drones in this area, especially in a certain frequency I always have orbs run by,' the witness on February 8 reported in a video on the Enigma app.

However, the driver traveling by El Paso International Airport on Tuesday supplied the clearest evidence that what the military encountered was not a simple balloon.

'They are reporting today that it wasn’t drones but a party balloon! It never ceases to amaze me how stupid they think the public are,' one commenter on X wrote.

'I feel like I’ve seen this story before…' one person on social media wrote next to a picture of the weather balloon debris the military claimed was actual the Roswell UFO in 1947.

However, many skeptics criticized the video for being so out of focus that it made a clear identification of the object impossible.

The White House did not mention any sightings of unidentified flying objects, also known as Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), in there reports on Wednesday.

Officially, the US government and the Pentagon have maintained that there has never been any physical evidence recovered proving UFOs or extraterrestrial beings exist.

Despite that declaration, it is considered highly unusual to close down US airspace under the threat that violators may be shot down. The last time US airspace was shut down for national security reasons was after the September 11 terror attacks.

The FAA also temporarily closed airspace over New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, but that was due to storm damage.

Unlike previous restrictions, the El Paso closure blocked all flights over the city, including police and medical helicopters. It is a move rarely, if ever, seen in modern US aviation.

President Trump has said that he is open to full disclosure of all UFO incidents and White House insiders have allegedly claimed Trump already has a speech prepared which addresses what the US government knows about the possibility of alien life.

According to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), multiple witnesses have reported seeing large objects over the US which they could only describe as a 'mothership.'

In fact, there have been six reports of large motherships, including some witnessing smaller craft surrounding it or flying out of them, since 2022.

“No words – just knowing:” two military UFO witnesses speak out on the same day

Last updated: 12 February 2026

Two former military witnesses went public on the same day via separate podcasts to describe UFO experiences, despite them happening decades apart.

John Seir, of the British Royal Navy, and Richard Bar, a US Air Force Security Guard, both say they remained silent for decades out of fear, secrecy, and uncertainty.

The content, as revealed on Cristina Gomez’s podcast UFO News, was explored with nuance as Gomez sought clarity amid an enigmatic situation.

The British Royal Navy Sailor account

John Seir was standing on the bridge of a British warship during a routine night watch sometime around 1980 (exact year not given), monitoring radar and navigation equipment to ensure the ship stayed on course.

Conditions were dark and clear enough for radar to pick up unusual activity, but visibility at sea was limited. Soon, something radiant emerged, seemingly out of nowhere.

It looked like a star, and then there was a disc in the middle of it, and it was really bright, and it was shining light on the seat. I was just stood there looking at it. Wow!

revealed Seir.

“There was something solid that the radar was picking up,” he continued, speaking out 45 years after the event.

But what also surprised him was how the skipper (ship's captain) looked on nonchalantly, his calm reaction suggesting prior exposure.

“The first thing I thought was that you’d seen them before,” observed Seir.

Notably, the skipper asked the pilots to confirm what they had witnessed, and the lead pilot confirmed that it was indeed a UFO.

As fighter jets at the scene scrambled on in bewilderment, the pilots reportedly confirmed it was an unidentified object. The object departed rapidly, leaving a zipping vapor trail, with no sound reported.

Seir claims a sensation of the crew being scanned mentally. As he described, “It was like a video call placed directly into my mind. No words, not any language, just knowing.”

Though nothing was communicated verbally, the message he understood from the extraterrestrials was, “We are your children… from the sea and sky.”

Quite strikingly, in the interview was how a cancer diagnosis changed Seir’s perspective on speaking out.

“I just wanted to say what I saw,” shared Seir, suggesting he had been holding back over the years.

US Air Force Guard’s sequence of events

Sixteen years previously, in 1964, on a foggy night in September, Richard Bar was alone on duty, guarding a nuclear missile installation at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

Vandenberg was a testing ground for the American nuclear arsenal at the height of the Cold War tensions. The site has a history of UAP-related sightings stretching back decades.

Visibility on the night was only about 30 to 40 ft, and in the early hours of 2 a.m., he saw a 5’10” ish humanoid figure moving through the fog, wearing what looked like a trench coat.

Forcibly, his mind became taken over by the being, and in defense, “I tried to pull my pistol… my arm was paralyzed.”

Bar claims he then suffered a loss of consciousness and woke up inside a circular metallic room. As with the non-verbal communication described by Seir: “It was not words – you just knew what it wanted.”

Bar reports seeing the missile site from above through a transparent floor and describes four beings with large heads and eyes.

He tried to scream but couldn’t make a sound. Bar backed away into his shack and blacked out. When he came round, he was on his knees.

The being communicated without words for Bar to look through the transparent circle on the ground.

He saw a truck arrive at a nearby missile site, with a guard checking the driver. When he raised his eyes, he saw figures sitting opposite him, with proportions similar to a baby.

When he came to his senses again, he was lying on the ground of the guard shack, with a being sitting next to him and cradling his head in its lap, communicating remorse.

The alien told Bar that they needed to access the nuclear electronics and that he himself was an obstacle. The bigger claim, though, was: “They needed to stop these missiles from launching.

They were trying to get the data on how to do their task, and what was certain was that they weren’t going to allow these missiles to be launched. They weren’t allowing us to go to nuclear war.”

The similarities explained

As presenter Cristina Gomez showed on an episode of UFO News, both witnesses describe non-verbal “knowledge transfer” communication.

Despite approximately 16 years between the two incidents, the parallel quotes of Seir: “No words – just knowing,” and Bar:

“You just knew what it wanted,” and both claiming that memories surfaced years later or gradually, are coincidental, to say the least.

It’s also tied in that both incidents were connected to military/nuclear environments, and that they kept their experiences secret for decades before speaking.

And when the modern UAP community begins speaking among themselves and finds such historical coequals, it adds an extra layer of alien-shrouded mystery to the Cold War.

Everything Trump Has Said About UFOs, Aliens in Speeches

updated Feb 13, 2026 at 10:59 AM EST

President Donald Trump has alternated between skepticism and curiosity about unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and aliens, discussing pilots’ sightings, government secrecy, and his own access to information during interviews and appearances.

Public interest in unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs) surged after Congress and the Pentagon released reports and held hearings, making presidential comments—past and present—central to understanding what the government might know and disclose.

A 2021 survey by Pew Research Center found that almost two-thirds (65 percent) of Americans believe that intelligent life could exist on other planets.

Trump’s evolving remarks offer a window into how a former and current president talks about alleged sightings.

In June 2019, Trump said he had been briefed on Navy UFO reports and expressed doubt, stating to ABC News: “I did have one very brief meeting on it,” adding that “people are saying they’re seeing UFOs. Do I believe it? Not particularly.”

Also in 2019, he told Tucker Carlson he wasn’t convinced in the existence of UFOs. “Well, I don't want to really get into it too much. But personally, I tend to doubt it," Trump said. "I'm not a believer, but you know, I guess anything is possible.”

In June 2020, when his son Donald Trump Jr. asked him about revealing “what’s really going on with Roswell,” Trump answered, per The Hill: “I won’t talk to you about what I know about it, but it’s very interesting.”

Major Jesse Marcel, pictured below in 1947 with crash debris, was the first military officer to investigate the Roswell Incident, one of the most famous examples of the supposed recovery of crashed extraterrestrial technology and biological entities.

On Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast in June 2024, Trump said he had met with pilots who described seeing "things you wouldn’t believe,” reiterating he was not a believer himself.

“But I have met with people, serious people, that say there are some really strange things flying around out there,” he said.

Pressed on whether he had access to files about aliens and UAPs, Trump added:

“I have access…and I speak to people about it, I’ve had actually meetings on it,” also saying he had heard of aircraft “round in form, going like four times faster than my super jet fighter plane.”

Appearing on Joe Rogan’s podcast in 2024 Trump also expressed skepticism, saying that he’d never been a believer.

On Greg Gutfeld's Fox News show in September 2024, Trump said the question he may get more than any other is about aliens in Area 51, and repeated that pilots told him of a “round object going faster than my F-22.”
