>Need 60 votes

Incorrect.

You can push for what is called a Standing Filibuster.

Then you will only need a simple Majority

Thus Nuking the Filibuster.

>reverting back to original standards

This is exactly what happened in:

2013 (Democrats lowered it for most executive and lower-court nominations).

2017 (Republicans extended it to Supreme Court nominations).

The main way to overcome (or "stop") a filibuster in the U.S. Senate with only a simple majority (typically 51 votes, assuming full attendance and no vacancies) involves using a parliamentary maneuver known as the "nuclear option" (also called "reform by ruling" or creating a new precedent).Under current Senate rules (as of February 2026), ending debate on most legislation via cloture requires a three-fifths supermajority — usually 60 votes — under Rule XXII. A filibuster (or its modern "silent" version, where a senator simply signals intent to block) prevents a final vote unless cloture is invoked.
