eyes on UK & NY for ramadan

def violence in the UK as they think Brits should not be eating either.

NY is now blasting the call to prayer so I would not be surprised for the muslim mayor to request for abstinence from eating in support of them.

The largest undercover force the world has ever known is the one created by the Pentagon over the past decade. Some 60,000 people now belong to this secret army, many working under masked identities and in low profile, all part of a broad program called "signature reduction." The force, more than ten times the size of the clandestine elements of the CIA, carries out domestic and foreign assignments, both in military uniforms and under civilian cover, in real life and online, sometimes hiding in private businesses and consultancies, some of them household name companies.

The Dignitatis Humanae Institute (DHI), also known as the Institute for Human Dignity, was a Christian right-wing think tank and advocacy organization based in Italy. It operated from 2008 until around 2021.

Its stated mission focused on protecting and promoting human dignity, rooted in the belief that humans are created in the image and likeness of God. It drew inspiration from Catholic social teaching and aimed to counter secularism, advocating for Judeo-Christian values in public life, politics, and culture. The name references the Vatican II document Dignitatis Humanae (Declaration on Religious Freedom), though the institute's activities leaned toward conservative traditionalist interpretations.

The organization gained significant attention for its association with high-profile conservative figures, including an advisory board that once included cardinals (such as U.S. Cardinal Raymond Burke, who later resigned in 2019 citing its increasing alignment with political figures). It received a papal audience and positive remarks from Pope Francis in 2013, praising efforts to promote human dignity.

Benjamin Harnwell, a British Catholic conservative (originally from Leicester, England), founded and directed the DHI. Before this, he worked as a political aide in the European Parliament (chief of staff to Conservative MEP Nirj Deva) and the UK House of Commons. He was involved in drafting a "Universal Declaration of Human Dignity" and helped establish related parliamentary working groups. Harnwell identifies philosophically as an Austro-libertarian (influenced by Austrian economics) and has long been active in conservative Catholic and free-market circles.

The institute's most prominent (and controversial) project was leasing the historic Certosa di Trisulti (Trisulti Charterhouse), an 800-year-old former Carthusian monastery south of Rome, in 2018. The plan, backed by Steve Bannon (former chief strategist to Donald Trump), was to transform it into an "Academy for the Judeo-Christian West" โ€” often dubbed a "gladiator school" by Bannon โ€” to train future political leaders in defending traditional Western values against secularism, liberalism, and globalism. Harnwell met Bannon around 2014 and collaborated closely on this initiative.

The project faced intense opposition:

  • Legal challenges from Italy's Culture Ministry over bidding irregularities, lack of experience managing cultural sites, and contract breaches.

  • Political backlash, especially from the Italian left, viewing it as a hub for populist/nationalist politics.

  • Cardinal Burke distanced himself due to its ties to Bannon's agenda.

  • The lease was revoked in 2019, leading to evictions (finalized around 2021 after court rulings against the DHI).

  • Harnwell faced criminal charges related to the lease application and rent payments but was fully exonerated by an Italian court in 2024, which ruled the procurement legal.

The DHI appears to have ceased active operations as an organization after the Trisulti failure and the 2021 timeline cited in sources. No prominent recent activities or revivals show up in current records (as of 2026), and its website references are outdated or inactive in searches.

In summary, this was a niche, Traditionalist Catholic-oriented entity tied to broader right-wing populist networks in the late 2010s, most notable for its high-profile (but ultimately unsuccessful) attempt to establish a conservative training academy in Italy with Bannon's involvement. Harnwell remains the central figure, known for his advocacy in these circles.
