Drone Strike Kills 28 at Market in Central Sudan, Rights Group Says

At least 28 civilians were killed when drones struck a busy market in central Sudan, a rights group said Monday, as fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) intensified along one of the war’s most contested fronts, AFP reported.
The Emergency Lawyers, a group that monitors violations during the conflict, said several drones hit the al-Safiya market on Sunday in an area controlled by the RSF near the town of Sodari in North Kordofan.
The group said the market was crowded at the time of the attack and warned that the casualty figure could rise.
Sodari is located in a remote part of northern Kordofan, where desert trade routes converge.
The town lies about 230 kilometres (132 miles) northwest of El-Obeid, the North Kordofan state capital, which the RSF has sought to encircle for months as part of its broader campaign in the region.
Kordofan has become a focal point of the three-year-old war, with an increase in lethal drone attacks as both sides battle for control of Sudan’s main east-west corridor.
The route connects the RSF-held western region of Darfur through El-Obeid to the army-controlled capital, Khartoum, and onward to other parts of the country.
Drone strikes and other aerial attacks have repeatedly hit towns and villages across vast areas of Sudan, often killing large numbers of civilians in single incidents. Both the army and the RSF have been blamed for attacks on populated areas far from active front lines.
Last Wednesday, a drone strike killed two children and wounded about a dozen people when it hit a school, according to earlier reports. Another attack that same day severely damaged a United Nations warehouse used to store famine relief supplies.
After consolidating its hold over Darfur last year, the RSF pushed east into oil- and gold-rich Kordofan in an effort to seize Sudan’s central corridor and expand its territorial control.
The conflict, which erupted in April 2023, has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced around 11 million, triggering what humanitarian agencies describe as the world’s largest hunger and displacement crisis.
The fighting has effectively divided Sudan, with the army controlling much of the center, north and east, while the RSF holds the west and, together with allied groups, parts of the south.

US president’s son Eric Trump invests in drone maker with gov’t contracts

United States President Donald Trump’s son Eric is investing in an Israeli drone manufacturer, prompting renewed conflict-of-interest concerns as the Trump family expands its business holdings during its patriarch’s second term as president.
Eric Trump is investing in a $1.5bn merger between Israeli drone maker Xtend and Florida-based JFB Construction Holdings, a small construction company, in a deal aimed at taking Xtend public this year, JFB said in a news release on Tuesday.
Xtend is an Israeli company whose products have been used by Israel’s military in Gaza, including using its drones to map underground tunnels, The Wall Street Journal has reported.
Drone maker Unusual Machines, which tapped Eric’s brother Donald Trump Jr in November 2024 as an adviser, is also investing in the merger, JFB said. JFB builds commercial and residential properties, including multifamily communities and shopping centres.
Xtend touts its drones as “low cost per kill”, which has appealed to the US Department of Defense. In November, the firm said it had solidified a multimillion-dollar contract with the Pentagon but did not disclose the contract’s value.
This month, Xtend was among 25 companies selected to participate in the Defense Department’s Drone Dominance Program, an acquisition reform effort designed to rapidly field low-cost, attack drones at scale.
Xtend also secured contracts with the Pentagon before Trump’s second term, including an $8.8m deal in December 2024.
“I am incredibly proud to invest in companies I believe in. Drones are clearly the wave of the future. Xtend has unbelievable potential,” Eric Trump said in a statement provided to Al Jazeera.
“By pairing XTEND’s operating system and advanced AI capabilities with JFB’s execution, infrastructure and buildout expertise, we see a clear opportunity to accelerate US manufacturing, scale production responsibly, and support a next-generation defense technology platform built in America and ready for the public markets,” Joseph F Basile III, chief executive officer of JFB, said in the news release.
JFB did not respond to Al Jazeera’s request for comment about the connection between its existing portfolio, which includes primarily commercial properties like a Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Florida and an escape room in Indiana, and a defence contractor.
“By combining our platform with JFB, we are acquiring the resources we need to scale our manufacturing capabilities in the US and gaining access to the US public markets,” Xtend CEO Aviv Shapira said in the news release.
Xtend did not respond to Al Jazeera’s request for comment.

Renewed conflict-of-interest concerns
The deal is the latest in a series of conflict-of-interest concerns surrounding the Trump family’s personal investments and whether its members are using the Trump presidency to advance their own financial interests, according to ethics experts.
“The first thing that comes to mind is another example of the president’s family appearing to profit from the presidency,” said Kedric Payne, senior director of ethics at the Campaign Legal Center.
“In the past, a president would avoid even the appearance that the family was benefitting from the office, and if that couldn’t be completely avoided, the president would make statements to reassure the public that there was no special treatment provided to the family that could lead to this benefit. Now, you don’t see anything like that.” Payne told Al Jazeera.
JFB Construction also appointed Stefan Passantino, a former White House attorney, to its board of directors amid the merger.
The investment comes even as the Trump family company has filed to trademark the use of the president’s name on airports but said it doesn’t plan on charging a fee at least for a proposed renaming of one near his Florida home, The Associated Press news agency reported.
Josh Gerben, a trademark lawyer who uncovered the filings over the weekend, said the applications were the first of their kind he’s ever seen.
“While presidents and public officials have had landmarks named in their honor, a sitting president’s private company has never in the history of the United States sought trademark rights in advance of such naming,” Gerben wrote on his blog.
“I should be very clear: these are trademark filings that are completely unprecedented.”
During former President Joe Biden’s term, Republicans rallied against his son Hunter Biden for using his connections with the White House to advance his personal business interests.
“When he [Hunter Biden] got a board position with a company overseas, there were concerns that he was using his name to secure a high-profile job.
There were no ties to government contracts, but even the appearance that he had a position based on his name was controversial,” Payne said.
The Oversight Committee in the US House of Representatives alleged that the Bidens “participated or benefited from the business schemes” in a committee hearing in March 2024 about Hunter Biden’s business dealings.
“We have learned that Joe Biden has taken action after action to further his family’s plans to get rich,” James Comer, the committee’s then-chairman, said at the time.
Comer did not respond to Al Jazeera’s request for comment about whether he shared the same concerns about the Trump family.
“We’re talking about something far more extreme: a child receiving benefits from government contracts, at least indirectly through a company he owns, including lucrative contracts with the Defense Department.
That’s something we haven’t seen since Halliburton and Vice President [Dick] Cheney,” Payne said.
The White House and Trump Organization representatives did not respond to a request for comment.

Stuart Dale Bennett accused of violating airspace above the Raven Rock Mountain Complex, a secure facility where top US officials will be whisked in the event of nuclear war
A YouTuber is facing federal charges after he flew a drone over a highly sensitive military installation known as the “underground Pentagon,” capturing footage of the ultra-secure compound that he later posted online, according to an FBI probable cause affidavit reviewed by The Independent.
Stuart Dale Bennett, who runs the “Area 82 Surveillance911” YouTube channel, is accused of gathering aerial recordings of the Raven Rock Mountain Complex, which has been described as one of the nation’s “most closely guarded secret military facilities, roughly comparable to ‘Area 51’ in southern Nevada.”
The self-contained 650-acre subterranean city, hidden deep within a hollowed-out mountain on the Maryland-Pennsylvania border and known as the “underground Pentagon,” is meant to serve as an emergency relocation site for top U.S. officials and vital military operations in the event of a nuclear attack or other catastrophe.
The affidavit, filed February 12 in support of a criminal complaint against Bennett, alleges the videos appeared to depict “critical infrastructure of importance to national security” – specifically, two clips titled, “Raven Rock Mountain Complex COG Site (2nd Pentagon),” and “Blue Ridge Summit / Former Fort Ritchie Communications Site with lots of secret squirrel antennae.”
“Notably, the Area 82 Surveillance911 YouTube channel actually included video titles that in some cases identifies sites as being considered ‘classified’ or ‘Top Secret,’” the affidavit states.
“Additionally, Area 82 Surveillance911 had a folder titled, ‘Classified Secret Sites’ which contained approximately seven videos of UAS overflight of U.S. Government facilities,” the affidavit continues.
The investigation into Bennett, from Maryland, began on September 8, 2025, when an unidentified U.S. military official contacted the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, made famous by TV series NCIS.
Theofficial flagged a YouTube channel that had posted drone footage a week earlier of what the probable cause affidavit describes as “an identified sensitive U.S. national defense facility.”
Ten days later, the FBI joined the investigation, the affidavit states. Agents reviewed the channel, “Area 82 Surveillance911,” maintained by a user going by “mtsxhacker,” and flagged multiple videos of Raven Rock, which “appeared to have been taken from an Unmanned Aircraft System,” according to the affidavit.

The agents traced the account’s IP address, and subpoenaed YouTube for the associated email and recovery phone numbers, identifying mtsxhacker as Bennett, who had used them previously to “submit unrelated complaints to the FBI,” the affidavit continues.
On September 24, a federal magistrate judge approved a trio of search warrants allowing the FBI to search Bennett’s residence, vehicle, and person, along with any electronic devices discovered along the way, the affidavit goes on.
The following day, it says agents seized a Potensic Atom drone, four micro-SD cards, and an HP Z240 Tower Workstation, from Bennett’s bedroom.
“During the execution of the search warrant, FBI agents observed that Bennett’s computer monitor (connected to his HP Z240 Tower Workstation) displayed that the Area82 Surveillance911 YouTube channel was logged into and appeared to have a video processing for upload to the channel,” the affidavit states.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection unit specializing in advanced drone forensics, the Center for Air and Marine Drone Exploitation, (CAMDEx) extracted the contents of one of the micro-SD cards, revealing off-limits footage of Raven Rock, according to the affidavit.
It showed an area of the facility called “Site C,” reportedly a key communications site at Raven Rock, and had been taken on September 6, 2025, the affidavit alleges.
The airspace surrounding Raven Rock is restricted, and the affidavit says Bennett “did not seek, nor was granted by the relevant U.S. Government authorities, authorization to conduct such overflight.”
A separate review of Bennett’s computer turned up queries to Google Maps for directions between his home and the Raven Rock complex, as well as visits to websites about the facility, according to the affidavit.
Investigators also located a photo Bennett saved to his files, titled, “2 hf antenna and microwave towers on top of Raven Rock,” along with four videos of off-limits drone footage taken there, the affidavit states.
Additionally, it says, Bennett’s search history showed that he visited his own YouTube channel on September 7, 2025 and watched the “Raven Rock Mountain Complex COG Site (2nd Pentagon)” video.
On November 10, 2025, the FBI and NCIS interviewed Bennett at the FBI Baltimore Field Office. Bennett told agents “that he owned and flew UAS,” but was not properly licensed to do so, and admitted to being behind the Area 82 Surveillance911 YouTube channel, the affidavit contends.
“Bennett admitted that he knew he was not permitted to fly UAS over military bases,” it says, adding that Bennett claimed someone named “Elliott” had given him “a list of interesting government sites to fly over,” including Raven Rock.
Bennett, who does not have an attorney listed in court records and was unable to be reached for comment Monday is charged with the knowing and willful violation of national defense airspace. He is set to make his initial appearance in court on February 20.
If convicted, he faces up a year behind bars.

The British filmmaker and author says a trusted Washington insider told him the former President has drafted an address acknowledging extraterrestrial visitation and the existence of recovered non-human craft and materials.
The speech is allegedly targeted for July 8, 2026 – the 79th anniversary of the Roswell incident.
But Lee now says he has received a series of disturbing anonymous emails appearing to warn him off.
One message, sent from what he described as an untraceable privacy-focused domain, read: "I'd suggest you tell your source to come forward sooner than later.
There is a move to stop this announcement, it is much safer to flood this information out now."
Lee believes the warnings suggest "powerful interests" are attempting to derail the announcement.
He said: "The intimidation only reinforces that we are touching on something profound.
"Attempts to silence this information will not succeed. The public deserves the truth."
In response to the messages, Lee claims his source now plans to go public sooner than expected, with a formal press conference scheduled for May 1, 2026, in Washington DC. Details of the venue and timing are expected to follow.
The filmmaker added: "These developments align with growing momentum in the UAP field. Recent public comments from figures close to the administration, including Lara Trump’s remarks suggesting the President is preparing to release UFO-related information, support what my source has shared."
Lee, whose recent book The Cosmic Joker: Why Angels, Aliens and Demons Are All the Same Intelligence explores what he calls the "trickster nature" of UFO phenomena, insists he is acting "responsibly and in good faith as a trained journalist and filmmaker".

Rep. Burlison to Newsmax: Won't Hesitate to Say If Aliens Exist

Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo., told Newsmax on Monday that he hopes to get to the bottom of whether we are alone in the universe.
Burlison said he has heard reports of an unidentified anomalous phenomenon — or UAP — that is not in this country and is so large it cannot be moved.
"They've built an entire building around it," he said on "Finnerty."
"And that's one of the locations I'm requesting to go to."
The lawmaker said that while he has no hard evidence about the object, he has heard reports from inside and outside the government that it exists.
"I'm not going to mention the country because I heard of it inside of a closed setting, and I want to protect my classification level," Burlison said.
He said he does not believe it is housed in South Korea, amid speculation a large UAP has been housed there, but he has been stymied by the government in his attempts to get answers.
"I'm having a difficult time getting access to facilities that are just within a few miles from my office in Washington, D.C.," Burlison said.
"So, to try to attempt to go to another country and get permission at that level is going to be somewhat insurmountable."
"But it doesn't mean that I'm not going to continue to try," he added.
Burlison said he believes a lot of agencies are simply looking to protect their information.
"And it's guarded like it's some kind of commodity," he said. "You have committees that protect their turf."
"So, if you're not on the right committee, then oftentimes, you're turned down," Burlison added.
"And sometimes there's, there's multiple committees that have jurisdiction over a topic. And they, they love turning each other down."
"The very nature of the difficulty of the red tape system within, within the bureaucracy of Congress is something that's very difficult to navigate," Burlison continued.
Burlison vowed to always be transparent with Americans about whether aliens exist.
"If I come under any hard evidence, whether it's physical or video evidence that is absolutely definitive, while I'm going to do what I can to protect our national security and our nation's interest, I will not hold back on telling the American people that we are alone or not alone in this universe," Burlison said.
"That is something that no government has the right to withhold from its people," he added.

A rare USB flash drive was discovered in Germany, and may contain classified material from a Space Agency. Are we alone in the universe? Are we visited by other civilizations? Are they colonizing us without us knowing?
It began on November 10, 2019 when a user of the reddit page who calls himself Quisto and claims to be a resident of a small town near Berlin in Germany opened a post to share a very strange situation he was experiencing.
He says that walking through a parking lot he found a silver Toshiba brand USB device which had carved on one of its sides a strange symbol that he had never seen before.

Hours later he turned on his computer and connected to the USB device to see what it contained and then says that at first when he tried to access the device his computer threw a read error.
He thought that the USB was damaged but finally after several attempts he succeeded in accessing the device. What he found there left him not only confused but with a unpleasant feeling of uncertainty about what lies beyond our planet.

USB Stick Found With Strange 1800s Planetary Imagery And Video
Hello reddit community. I made this account just to share this event and decided to share this on the mystery thread as I don’t know where else to post. My name is Quisto and I live in a small village near Berlin (Bernau).
To make a quite long story short, I found a USB stick on a parking lot near the so called “Steintor” a few hours ago. I didn’t think much when I saw it and put it into my pocket.
There was nothing more at the parking lot, just a silver Toshiba USB stick (it has a strange symbol carved into it). Later today I put it into my laptop. First I had trouble opening it because the laptop said it is corrupted and i’m not computer savvy.
Anyways, I found lots of files. I have no idea what they mean.

But here comes the interesting part: among the unnamed files there were quite many images and videos of what seems like planets/space related stuff. They all seem old from the 1900s.
The videos kind of shocked me as some of them show what seems like “alien ufos”. I watched lots of sci fi movies to know what they look like.
I don’t know the story behind the USB stick and who possessed it but I decided to share this with you. Some images seem to show surface close ups of planets and some seem to be edited/blacked out.
The videos are too freaky to describe. A friend said the stick contains old Voyager satellite recordings and files that are not supposed to be public as he has never seen something like that (he’s a space dude).
I will look more into the files now and keep you up to date. Once i figure out how to upload I will show to you the images.
Maybe some of you know what is shown on the pictures/videos.
The first thing he found when accessing the USB memory was a main folder called projects with the number 8867 which he proceeded to explore. He clarifies he is not a computer expert.
He found a lot of files that he did not know what they were used for or how how to open them, however, he was able to access several subfolders which contained information that his computer could easily read, such as video and image files.
The first folder that caught his attention was “Far Earth Output”. He began to review folder by folder, many of which were empty until he got to the last two with which Quisto would be shocked to see. One of the folders contained 29 images while the other 42 videos.
The quality of both the photos and the videos made him suppose that it was very old material possibly from the middle of the 20th century. The strange thing about the matter was what was seen in it seemed to indicate that what was recorded here came from outer space.
One of the photographs that seemed to show not only moons and planets of the solar system but the earth itself being orbited by what appears to be some kind of artificial moon or satellite, as well as censored images of the surface of planets, strange objects and structures that he could not identify.
