Alexander Onassis was badly injured on January 22, 1973, when his personal Piaggio P.136L‑2 amphibious airplane crashed shortly after takeoff at Hellinikon International Airport in Athens; he was a passenger while a prospective pilot was flying under instruction. He died the next day, January 23, 1973, at age 24, from injuries sustained in that crash (often described as a brain injury/hemorrhage from the accident)

coincidence?

yeah, i studied the hunt for the wreckage by clinton using the same ship that was used to uncover the wreckage of TSA whatever it was, the flight that multiple witnesses saw shot down over the ocean, official narrative was a lie, that salvage ship sent out by clintons stayed on the hunt longer than any other salvage mission for downed aircraft, …

In the recovery of John F. Kennedy Jr., his wife Carolyn, and her sister Lauren in July 1999, the Navy rescue and salvage ship USNS/USS Grasp (T‑ARS‑51) located and helped raise the wreckage of JFK Jr.’s Piper Saratoga and supported the body recovery by divers.

During the earlier TWA Flight 800 investigation (1996), the Navy used sister salvage ships USS Grasp (T‑ARS‑51) and USS Grapple (T‑ARS‑53) to recover wreckage and victims from the ocean; official accounts note Grasp working the TWA 800 crash site along with Grapple.

So, the Grasp was used in the JFK Jr. crash recovery and was also one of the Navy salvage ships employed in the TWA Flight 800 wreckage recovery.

What the Grasp did for JFK Jr.

The crash occurred the night of July 16, 1999; the Coast Guard began search and rescue early July 17.

NOAA vessel Rude located plane fragments on July 19 using side‑scan sonar.

The salvage ship Grasp located the fuselage late on July 20 and supported Navy divers recovering remains and major wreckage at about 120 feet depth.

Contemporary reports note Grasp’s greater depth and endurance capability but do not describe this deployment as unusually long in duration.

Clinton’s role and duration question

President Bill Clinton did order Navy warships, including assets like Grasp, to assist once it was clear this was a recovery rather than routine civilian search and rescue.

Clinton publicly said the efforts were consistent with other cases at first, and that he personally allowed “a few more days” of federal search/recovery because of the Kennedy family’s national role, not because of a uniquely long salvage‐ship deployment.

Media coverage at the time focused on the intensity and cost (e.g., about half a million dollars in direct federal spending, ~25,000 dollars per day to operate Grasp), not on the mission being the longest salvage in Navy history or anything comparable.

Comparison with other Grasp missions

Grasp had previously done much longer and more complex salvage or harbor‑clearance missions, such as a 41‑day operation raising a sunken motor vessel in Honduras (over 200 hours of dive time) and extended deployments recovering downed Navy aircraft and clearing harbors in Eritrea and Italy.

Grasp also supported the TWA Flight 800 recovery in 1996, another highly visible, technically demanding salvage that ran for weeks, again showing that multi‑week salvage operations for major crashes were standard for this ship.

i was wrong about it being the longest, but clintons definately wanted proof of their demise, but why were the bodies crematec without the families approval? because there were no bodies
