Israelis are at least holding onto the holy land against the Muslims. Christians and Muslims battled for the holy land for thousands of years. Israelis pulled off some Jew-jitsu and got ahold of it now.
Israel is more likely to give the land back to Christians than Muslims. Judaism and Christianity are basically 85% the same, the only difference being the New Testament.

Yes exactly. Before the printing press, you'd have to go find a temple that would let you read the scrolls. Most people probably didn't know how to read so they just believed whatever the Rabbis told them. Which can lead to obvious problems involving hubris and such.

Jews are kind of lost in that they stone to death all their prophets. But yeah, depending on your childhood, character, age, different areas of the Bible will have certain Wisdom that only that person would understand. The Old Testament is a really complex read.
