Two-Hour Meeting in Geneva Between U.S., Ukraine and Russia Negotiators Ends with Not much Progress

The U.S. mediating team met with Ukraine and Russia negotiators for the second day in Geneva, Switzerland. Unfortunately, despite the high praise and customary diplomatic niceties spoken, there was not much progress.

There was, however, a rather remarkable accusation hurled by Russian media about uninvited British officials going to Geneva in order to conduct surveillance of the negotiations. Apparently,this is part of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s efforts to retain maximum involvementand influence.

Tucker Carlson says he was ‘detained’ in Israel

The US journalisthad arrived in the country to interview the American ambassador, Mike Huckabee

US journalist and podcaster Tucker Carlson has said he was briefly detained at Ben Gurion International Airport on Wednesday after taping an interview with the US ambassador to Israel.

Carlson, who frequently criticizes US aid to Israel, told the Daily Mail that Israeli officials took his passport and escorted his executive producer to an interrogation room.

“Men who identified themselves as airport security took our passports, hauled our executive producer into a side room andthen demanded to know what we spoke to Ambassador Huckabee about,” Carlson said.

“It was bizarre. We’re now out of the country,” he added.

The United States Embassy in Israel denied Carlson’s claims, saying he was subjected to routine security checks at the airport.

Ambassador Mike Huckabeewrote on X: “EVERYONE who comes in/out of Israel (every country for that matter) has passports checked & routinely asked security questions. Even ME going in/out with Diplomatic Passport & Diplomatic Visa.”

According to The Jerusalem Post,Carlson did not leave the airport during his visit and conducted the interview with Huckabee inside the terminal.

Channel 13 reported thatIsraeli authorities considered barring the journalist from entering the countrybut ultimately decided against it to avoid a potential diplomatic incident.

In the past, Israel has blacklisted US politicians and activists critical of its policies toward the Palestinians. In 2019, Israel barred Democratic congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib from entering the country.

Carlson has criticized Israel’s war in Gaza and claimed that US policymakers were acting on behalf of what he described as the Israeli lobby.

Jewish rights groups have accused Carlson of promoting anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and criticized him for inviting far-right activist Nick Fuentes to his podcast.

The US senator has met with the Emirati president as the largest US military presence in the region in decades continues to grow

Emirati President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met US Senator Lindsey Graham on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi, the senator said in a post on X.It comes as the biggest US ‘armada’ in decades builds in the Middle East.

As US and Iranian representatives met in Geneva on Tuesday, a steady flow of American refueling tankers, electronic warfare aircraft, and fighter jets crossed the Atlantic, stopping at bases in the UK and Germany on their way to the Middle East. The nuclear-powered USS Abraham Lincoln has been deployed in the Persian Gulf since January and is expected to be joined soon by the USS Gerald R. Ford, currently sailing toward the Strait of Gibraltar.

In his X post,Graham also criticized what he called “false narratives” circulating about the UAE and its leader. Earlier this week, social mediaspeculation about the health of the sheikh, also known as MBZ,had surged after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan postponed a planned visit to Abu Dhabi. His office announced the reason as a “health problem” before deleting the message.

Graham said he met the UAE president for an hour and a half and dismissed those “perpetuating false narratives against the United Arab Emirates and President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed” as “full of it.”

According to Emirati News Agency (WAM), Graham and Al Nahyan discussed regional developments and efforts to promote peace in the Middle East.

=The visit also comes in the middle of a growing rift between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which find themselves on different sides of the Yemen conflict. Earlier in December, clashes erupted between forces aligned with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council and fighters loyal to Yemen’s internationally recognized, Saudi-backed government.

The confrontations exposed deep divisions within the anti-Houthi coalitionand underscored competing agendas in southern Yemen.

Israel ‘dictating terms’ to US – Turkish professor

Washington is following the Jewish State’s demands on Iran and the Middle East as a whole, Hasan Unal has told RT.

Israel is effectively dictating US foreign policy, particularly on Iran and the wider Middle East,in a way that is historically unprecedented for a global superpower, a Turkish international relations professor has told RT.

Hasan Unal, who teaches at Baskent University in Ankara, spoke to RT’s Rick Sanchez this week about what he described as ahighly unusual power imbalance between Israel and the US.

”We are living in a world now where a small country like Israel is dictating terms to a superpower like the United States on anything and everything, particularly anything pertaining to Israel and to the Middle East,” he said,calling the situation “totally unacceptable.”

Unal added that some analysts have evendescribed it as an “occupation” of US policymaking by Israel, a characterization he said was “almost true.”

He went on to say that pro-Israel lobby influence and the personal involvement of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were shaping American positions, recalling episodes when Netanyahu “gets on his plane immediately” and flies to Washington “to simply dictate what [US President Donald] Trump should say and should negotiate in the negotiations with the Iranians.”

Unal claimed such a pattern has left Washington “dogging behind the Israeli demands all the time” andcautioned that it risks further destabilizing the Middle East.

Netanyahu has made multiple high profile visits to Washington to engage directly with senior US officials on regional policy.In the past year alone, he has met Trump at the White House at least six timesto discuss issues ranging from Gaza and Iran’s nuclear program to military cooperation. His latest trip took place last week, ahead of the second round of indirect US Iran talks in Geneva. Netanyahu later said he had pressed Trump to ensure that Tehran is barred from enriching uranium. The renewed diplomatic push followed joint Israeli-US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities last year, officially justified as an attempt to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons – an ambition the Islamic Republic denies.

Trump has since sent an ‘armada’ to the Middle East and threatened further attacks unless Iran agrees to a deal on both its nuclear and missile programs. Last week, he raised the prospect of regime change and announced a second carrier strike group deployment, with media reports claiming the US military was ordered to prepare for a sustained multi-week operation if talks fail.

Asked whether Iran poses a direct threat to the US,Unal replied that Tehran does not seek to attack American assets as such and that many of the tensions are tied to Israel’s security calculations.

Unal also suggested what he called the gradual collapse of a “big empire,” referring to the Western-led order, and the emergence of a more multipolar system in which countries such as Russia, China, and Türkiye have greater room to maneuver.

Fox News host Lara Trump suggested on Tuesday that “many” members of the Trump family could eventually run for office, with multiple possible successors to her father-in-law President Donald Trump.

“I have looked at my father-in-law over the past eleven, almost twelve years now, and I’ve watched the impact that he’s been able to make in people’s lives and it’s amazing. Look, he’s dealt with hell, right? He has gone through so much,” said Trump during an appearance on Miranda Devine’s Pod Force One:

You gotta do it.’ So he is absolutely a champion of mine, of I’m sure any of the kids. He certainly would have their backs on it. But yeah, I think he’s, you know, he’s gonna cheer for all of us or any of us if the time came for whatever that might be.”

Devine concluded, “So we may see President Trump of the new generation, but which one it is is still to be filled out. Maybe all three!

Ice cream killer called her victims ‘monsters’ in memoir

The Austrian femme fatale nicknamed the “Ice Cream Killer” penned a memoir about her dirty deeds, calling her victims “monsters” who turned her into a bloodthirsty “beast.”

“I killed two men, whom I once loved. There is no way of glossing this over. I robbed two mothers of their sons,” Estibaliz Carranza, 36, co-wrote in her book, “My Two Lives, The True Story of the Ice Lady,” with journalist Martina Prewein.

Carranza, who is serving a life sentence for the dismemberment murders of two lovers, also says in the book that she couldn’t help being subservient to her male victims despite how badly they treated her.

“I believed I had to serve men, no matter how they behaved towards me,” Carranza wrote in the manuscript, which was published by Bernhard Salomon of Edition A.

She has declined all proceeds from the sale of the book “for the sake of the [victims’] relatives,” Salomon told the BBC on Monday…
