Epstein estate to pay $35 million to settle sex abuse claims

Two of the late financier’s top aides join the settlement to finally resolve claims from at least 40 women

The estate of the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has agreed to pay up to $35 million to settle a class-action lawsuit, according to a court filing from Thursday.

The suit accused two of the financier’s advisers of aiding and abetting his sex trafficking of young women and teenage girls.

The lawsuit was initially filed in 2024 against Darren Indyke and Richard Kahn, both of whom served for years as Epstein’s personal lawyer and accountant, respectively.

Boies Schiller Flexner, the law firm representing Epstein’s alleged victims, announced the settlement in a filing in a federal court in Manhattan. Under the terms of the proposed settlement, Epstein’s estate would also be joined as a defendant in the case.

The settlement, reached with Indyke and Kahn, aims to “finally, and forever” resolve claims from victims who say they were “sexually assaulted or abused or trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein between January 1, 1995, and through August 10, 2019,” the date of his death in prison.

Indyke and Kahn, who have not been accused of abusing women or witnessing any such abuse, have denied all liability to Epstein’s victims and agreed to the settlement terms without admitting wrongdoing.

“Because they did nothing wrong, the co-executors were prepared to fight the claims against them through to trial, but agreed to mediate and settle this lawsuit in order to achieve finality as to any potential claims against the Epstein Estate,” NBC quoted their lawyer Daniel H. Weiner as saying.

The proposed agreement, which requires approval from a federal judge in New York to become final, provides for a total payout of $35 million to the group – estimated by their attorney to include at least 40 eligible women – or $25 million if fewer than 40 qualify.

The payout follows a prior distribution of $121 million to 136 claimants through the Epstein Victims Compensation Program, as well as a subsequent $48 million settlement covering 59 victims.

The release of the Epstein files has sparked a wave of resignations worldwide. The fallout hit hardest in the UK, where three senior officials in Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s government stepped down and King Charles’s brother Andrew lost his titles.

With Shaky Reasoning, Trump Weighs Limited Initial Strike On Iran To Force A Deal

Having amassed the heaviest US air power in the Middle East since the disastrous 2003 Iraq invasion, President Trump is now considering an initial, limited strike on Iran to force it to bow to the maximalist demands of Israel and the United States. The idea is based on two deeply questionable premises:

that air strikes alone will compel Iran to give up its defensive ballistic missile capabilities, and halt all nuclear enrichment

that Iran won't retaliate for an American "limited strike" in a way that sends the United States, Israel, Iran and perhaps even Russia and China racing up an escalation ladder

Reported by the Wall Street Journal, the single-strike scenario is an alternative to the idea of a sustained, weeks-long military campaign that would not only target nuclear sites, but also state and security facilities. The Pentagon has been actively planning for such an onslaught, and one official told Reuters that the administration fully expects such a campaign would trigger Iranian retaliation and a series of strikes and reprisals that last far longer than last summer's 12-day war that was initiated by Israel.

While Israel-catering warmongers like to portray Iranian leaders as unstable religious zealots, the Iranian government has demonstrated enormous restraint in the face of decades of economic and military warfare. In addition to last year's war started by Israel, other extreme provocations have included the 2020 US killing of Iranian general and Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani, an April 2024 Israeli attack on Iran's consulate in Syria, and a long-running series of Israeli assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists.

However, the era of Iranian strategic restraint may be over. "Unlike the restraint Iran showed in June 2025, our powerful armed forces have no qualms about firing back with everything we have if we come under renewed attack,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote in January.

Elsewhere, Iran has said that, "in the event that it is subjected to military aggression, all bases, facilities, and assets of the hostile force in the region would constitute legitimate targets." Democratic Minnesota state Rep. Leigh Finke claimed during a Thursday hearing that pornography could be “educational” for “queer” children while arguing against a law requiring age verification to access adult web sites.

The legislation HF 1434, would require age verification for sites deemed “harmful to minors,” with sites failing to do so being subject to civil action from the state attorney general and private citizens. Finke, a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman, claimed current sex education was not being provided for LGBT youth.

Israeli Settlers Kill 19-Year-Old Palestinian American in the West Bank

Jewish settlers in the West Bank killed a 19-year-old Palestinian American on Thursday as settler violence continues to surge in the Israeli-occupied territory.

According to Haaretz, Nasrallah Abu Siam was shot during a settler attack on the village of Mukhmas in the central West Bank, and he later succumbed to his wounds. Two other Palestinians were injured by the gunfire.

An eyewitness told the Israeli newspaper that after the settlers shot Abu Siam, they “crowded around him, hit him with clubs and stones, and nearly killed him. They behaved like animals. There was no humanity in them.”

Raed Abu Ali, a resident of Mukhamas, told The Associated Press that when Israeli troops were deployed to the town during the attack and fired tear gas and live ammunition, emboldening the settlers. “When the settlers saw the army, they were encouraged and started shooting live bullets,” he said.

The IDF acknowledged that its forces conducted “riot dispersal methods” in the area but denied that Israeli troops used live ammunition. During the attack, settlers stole livestock, and Haaretz reported that footage shows settlers leading dozens of sheep away from the village.

Abu Siyam’s mother told the AP that he was an American citizen. Last year, two US citizens were killed by settler attacks in the West Bank, including Sayfollah Musallet, a 20-year-old from Florida who was beaten to death by settlers while visiting family in the Palestinian territory.

Khamis Ayyad, another Palestinian American who was in his 40s, died of smoke inhalation while trying to put out fires set by settlers during an attack on a West Bank village in August 2025.

Silicon Valley Engineers Charged With Stealing Trade Secrets From Leading Tech Companies And Transferring Confidential Data To Unauthorized Locations, Including Iran

SAN JOSE – A federal grand jury has indicted three Silicon Valley engineers on charges of conspiring to commit trade secret theft from Google and other leading technology companies, theft and attempted theft of trade secrets, and obstruction of justice. Samaneh Ghandali, 41, Mohammadjavad Khosravi aka Mohammad Khosravi, 40, and Soroor Ghandali, 32, all of San Jose, were arrested today and made their initial appearances in federal district court in San Jose this afternoon.

According to the indictment filed yesterday and unsealed today, the defendants gained employment at leading technology companies in the area of mobile computer processors. Samaneh Ghandali and Soroor Ghandali, who are sisters, worked at Google before going on to work for another technology company identified as Company 3, and Khosravi, who is married to Samaneh Ghandali, worked at a technology company identified as Company 2.

As part of the alleged scheme to commit trade secret theft, the defendants used their employment to obtain access to confidential and sensitive information. The defendants then exfiltrated confidential and sensitive documents, including trade secrets related to processor security and cryptography and other technologies, from Google and other technology companies to unauthorized third-party and personal locations, including to work devices associated with each other’s employers, and to Iran.

“As alleged, the defendants exploited their positions to steal confidential trade secrets from their employers. Our office will continue to lead the way in protecting American innovation and we will vigorously prosecute individuals who steal sensitive advanced technologies for improper gain or to benefit countries that wish us ill,” said United States Attorney Craig H. Missakian.

“The alleged actions outlined in this indictment reflect a calculated betrayal of trust by individuals accused of stealing trade secrets from the very tech companies that employed them. According to the allegations, the method in which confidential data was transferred by the defendants involved deliberate steps to evade detection and conceal their identities,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Sanjay Virmani. “Protecting Silicon Valley innovation and defending the groundbreaking technologies that drive our economy and national security is a top priority for the FBI. We will continue to work with our private sector partners to hold accountable anyone who seeks to unlawfully exploit American ingenuity,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Sanjay Virmani.

The indictment describes that while employed at Google, Samaneh Ghandali transferred hundreds of files, including Google trade secrets, to a third-party communications platform, specifically to channels bearing each of the defendants’ first names. Soroor Ghandali likewise is alleged to have transferred numerous Google files, including trade secrets, to these channels while employed by Google. These Google trade secrets were later copied to various personal devices and Khosravi’s Company 2 work device, as well as Soroor Ghandali’s Company 3 work device.

Trump Says ‘War Is Over’ in Gaza Despite Israel Killing Over 600 Palestinians Since Ceasefire Deal Was Signed

At least two Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces over the past day, according to Gaza's Health Ministry

President Trump claimed at his first “Board of Peace” meeting on Thursday that the “war in Gaza is over” despite Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire deal, which have killed more than 600 Palestinians.

While declaring the conflict is over, Trump added that there have been “little flames,” an apparent acknowledgement of at least some ceasefire violations. Israeli attacks in Gaza continued as he held the meeting.

Israeli airstrikes and shelling were reported across Gaza on Thursday, and at least one Palestinian was injured by Israeli gunfire in the southern city of Khan Younis. Photos from Gaza show Palestinians at the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis on Thursday mourning a man who was killed by Israeli fire in the area.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said on Thursday that at least two Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces over the previous 24-hour period, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed since the deal was signed in early October to 611. Another 1,630 Palestinians have been injured.

The Health Ministry’s numbers account for dead and wounded Palestinians brought to hospitals and morgues. “A number of victims are still under the rubble and in the streets, as ambulance and civil defense crews have been unable to reach them so far,” the ministry wrote on Telegram.
