And now, for something completely different.

Every time I hear the name David Lee Roth I think back to my childhood.

My mother used to take us to a fish market owned by a guy named Gugga Roth.

Sometimes the neighbor kids would join us.

Well, the fun thing about going to Gugga Roth's Fish Market is that we kids would stand in line so that Gugga could slap us across the face a few times with a dead fish.

We loved it!

It was like a rite of passage: no mother was allowed to buy fish until her kid stood in line to get fish slapped.

I'm laughing as I type this memory from about 60 years ago.

Later on Monty Python showed what it's like to get fish-slapped but to me, Gugga Roths's fish slaps were the best.

I hope we can live in a world again, some day soon, where children line up to get a few fish slaps from a silly guy who sells the best fish in the country.

And that, ladies and gentleman, is where my mind goes every time I hear or read the name David Lee Roth.
