Ahhh, Free Republic.

I'm surprised that the website is still around. From all of those neverending "Freepathons" (primarily used to stuff Jim Rob's pockets full of money —– no way in hell does it cost anywhere near that much to operate such a simple website), to the dwindling number of people posting, to many of the very narrow-minded posters, there really aren't any good reasons to go to that website any more.

I used to be a freeper and spent a lot of time there in the late 1990s and early 2000s, but that finally stopped a few years ago. While there are some good posters there, way too many of them are behind on the times, pompous jackasses, or just plain ignorant and walking around wearing blinders, afraid to see the real world.

The site served its purpose a long time ago, but today it's basically a retirement home full of boomers, "The Sarah Palin Fan Club," and those who justify sucking Jim Rob's dick.

More types of posters include:

>"I don't own a TV."

>"Who is [actor/actress]? What is [TV show]? I really don't care as I don't watch TV, but I'll still make annoying comments in every entertainment thread."

>"I haven't been to a movie in 20 years. How much is a movie ticket these days? Har, har, har!"

>"If a TV show / movie is not straight out of the Bible and 100% accurate, then it's not worth my time."

>"I went to McDonald's today for the first time in 30 years and expected it to taste like real food. Instead it tasted like shit."

>"Tim Cook is evil because he's gay and doesn't like straight people." - posted from my brand new iPhone

And on, and on, and on.

Best of luck trying to redpill anybody there and help open their eyes to the real world. You'll quickly be ganged up and shouted down, especially if the truth goes against their core beliefs.

>Constant money push, $90k per quarter.

Yep. $360,000 per year.

Jim Rob never seems interested when people offer ways of drastically reducing those "operating costs". And those people who do voluntarily donate will scold those who criticize it.

Like another poster here said, it's basically a cult mentality over there. Attempt to show them the truth and they'll banish you.

No. Good for you. I do own TVs but use an antenna, so it's free. I mainly use the TV for background noise anyway.

What I found annoying was when people would intentionally keep shitting in the entertainment threads by doing the usual "I don't own a TV and don't care, and I'll tell you every fucking time," posts.
