Slovakia halts electricity supplies to Ukraine

Bratislava has said it took the reciprocal measure against Kiev over the disruption of Russian oil supplies

Bratislava has stopped providing emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine until Kiev restores the flow of Russian oil to Slovakia through the Druzhba pipeline,Prime Minister Robert Fico has said, warning of “further reciprocal steps.”

The prime minister made the announcement on Monday, when theultimatum he issued over the weekend to Kiev to resume operations of the Soviet-era pipeline expired. The Druzhba pipeline, which connects Russia to Slovakia and Hungary, has been out of commission since late January. Kiev claims it was damaged in Russian strikes, which Moscow denies.

Both Slovakia and Hungary have accused Ukraine of deliberately withholding supplies for political reasons and threatened retaliation. Announcing the halt to electricity supplies to Ukraine, Fico reiterated thatUkraine’s actions were a “purely political decision aimed at blackmailing Slovakia.”

“Reciprocity is a fundamental rule in international relations. The government’s first response to the hostile acts of the Ukrainian president in the form of stopping emergency electricity supply is therefore entirely appropriate,” Fico stated, warning of “further reciprocal steps” if oil supplies are not resumed.

Kiev has been increasingly reliant on electricity imports to stabilize its power grid, which has been battered by Russian strikes on Ukraine’s dual-use infrastructure. According to Fico, Ukraine received twice as much electricity from Slovakia this January as it did throughout 2025.

The retaliatory move came hours after Hungary vetoed the EU’s latest sanctions on Russia, as well as a proposed €90 billion ($106 billion) emergency loan for Ukraine. Budapest tied the double veto to the Druzhba standoff, accusing Kiev of imposing an “oil blockade” on the country and “blackmailing” it.

Last week, both Slovakia and Hungary announced that they would suspend diesel exportsto Ukraine until the Druzhba pipeline becomes operational again.Budapest has also mulled cutting emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine.

(To understand Ukraine is trying to freeze the countries people to death. It’s a severe winter there.)

Hungary vetoes €90 billion EU loan for Ukraine

Budapest has alsoopposed the bloc’s proposed 20th package of sanctions against Russiaamid an oil supply row with Kiev

Hungary has blocked the EU’s proposed €90 billion ($106 billion) emergency loan for Ukraine, as well as the latest package of sanctions on Russia, citing Kiev’s allegedly deliberate disruption of oil supplies to the country.

Hungary placed the double veto on the initiatives on Monday as Kievand Budapest remain locked in a bitter row over the Soviet-era Druzhba oil pipeline – which carries Russian crude to Hungary and Slovakia and has been out of commission since late January. Kiev claims that it was damaged by Russia, which has denied the allegations.

Budapest has echoed Moscow’s stance, accusing Kiev of deliberately withholding supplies for political reasonsand subjecting the country to an “oil blockade,” and threatening retaliation.

“Ukrainians cannot blackmail us; they cannot jeopardize the security of Hungary’s energy supply by colluding with Brusselsand the Hungarian opposition. No, a clear no,” Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said after a meeting of the bloc’s top diplomats to discuss the loan and sanctions package.

EU foreign affairs chief Kaja Kallas said the bloc’s leadership expected the measures to be approved at the meeting, adding that it was a major setback and a “message we did not want to send today.”

The €90 billion loan was agreed to in December, when Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic secured an opt-out scheme, allowing them to not contribute to the scheme financially.

Hungary, as well as the other nation affected by the oil supply disruption, Slovakia, has threatened retaliation over the Druzhba issue, demanding that Kiev resume its operations immediately.

Last week, both countries announced that they would suspend diesel exports to Ukraine until the pipeline becomes operational again. This weekend, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico also threatened tostop providing Ukraine with emergency electricity supplyunless Kiev restores oil deliveries within two days.

Fico said on Monday that he will keep his promise, raising the issue with the nation’s electricity provider. In January alone, Kiev received more emergency electricity from Slovakia than throughout 2025 to stabilize its energy grid amid Russian long-range strikes, he noted.

The game, along with a swimming competition, took place in a 25-meter pool carved into the ice of the Moscow Rowing Canalin the city’s western Krylatskoye district, as the air temperature fell to approximately -5°C.

Ice swimming is along-standing traditionin Russia. EachJanuary 19, thousands take part in Epiphany swims to mark the baptism of Jesus Christ.

The festival ranfrom February 20 and included freestyle, butterfly and breaststroke swimming disciplines. It wrapped up on Monday,February 23, which is a Russian national holiday, Defender of the Fatherland Day.

The aqua-event dates back to February 23, 1951, when a mass swim was organized on the Moscow River by Osman Kumukov, a World War II veteran and rescue diver. The swim continued annually until 2006. The tradition was revived at the Rowing Canal in 2023.

I can’t freakin believe the Olympics are not allowing Russia to compete in all events under the Russia name, their athletes can only be neutral.

Zelensky laughs off Trump’s ‘dictator’ accusation(VIDEO)

The Ukrainian leader alsohinted that the US president will not remain in power forever

Ukrainian leader VladimirZelensky has rejected US President Donald Trump’s accusationthat he is a dictator, while hinting that Trump will not remain in power forever. (This is at least the second time Zelensky said this, insinuating Trump will die soon.) Russia considers Zelensky to be illegitimate, as his presidential term expired almost two years ago.

In an interview with theBBC released on Sunday, Zelensky was asked to comment on Trump’s accusation that he is “a dictator who started the war.”Zelensky responded by laughing, saying: “I am not a dictator, and I didn't start the war, that’s it.”

Askedwhether the US president can be trustedto uphold security guarantees that would accompanya peace dealwith Russia,Zelensky suggested that Trump will not be in power forever.

“It is not only President Trump, we’re talking about America. We are all presidents for the appropriate terms. We want guarantees for 30 years for example. Political elites will change, leaders will change,” he said. (Dodging and weaving, why does he feel so comfortable discussing Trump will not around forever? When the US Military can, they need to make Zelensky comfortable in Gitmo!)

In December, while commenting on the Trump administration’s reluctance to support Ukraine’s NATO ambitions,Zelensky seemed to hint that this could change if Trump dies in office: “Maybe the position will change in the future…The world changes, some live, some die. That’s life.”

Zelensky’s presidential term expired in May 2024, but he has refused to hold an election, citing martial law. Russia considers him illegitimate, arguing that his legal status is an obstacle to signing a binding peace agreement.

Trump calledZelensky a “dictator without elections” in February 2025, followed by an Oval Office meeting that devolved into a televised row, with Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance accusing Zelensky of ingratitude for US assistance in the conflict with Russia.

Trump has since urged Ukraine to hold elections. Faced with mounting US pressure, Zelensky said he is open to holding an election – but demanded Western security guarantees. Officials in Kiev have also complained that they need additional financial assistance to organize elections.

Macron asks Trump to lift sanctions on EU officials

The French president has condemned the “erroneous” restrictions placed on the bloc’s former tech commissioner

French President Emmanuel Macron has asked US President Donald Trump to lift the sanctions heimposed on several European officials, including former EU commissionerThierry Breton and International Criminal Court (ICC) judge Nicolas Guillou.

Breton, a French citizen who oversaw the EU’s tech regulations, was among five Europeans barred from entering the USforleading “organized efforts to coerce American platforms to punish American viewpoints they oppose,” according to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Judge Guillou, also a French national, was sanctioned over the ICC’s arrest warrantsfor Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes in Gaza.

In a letter published by La Tribune Dimanche on Sunday and confirmed by the Elysee Palace,Macron argued that the measures were “unjustly imposed” and asked Trump to “reconsider these decisions.”

“The sanctions adopted against Thierry Breton undermine European regulatory autonomy and are based, moreover, on erroneous analyses,” Macron wrote.

“European digital regulation does not, in fact, have any extraterritorial reach and applies without discrimination, on European territory, to all companies concerned,” he added. (Macron thinks he can lie to Trump and Trump will listen to him.Emmanuel, no, no, no, this is not a good time to address Trump,as a matter of fact, it’s not a good idea to address him ever, on limiting free speech.)

The French leader argued that “the sanctions adopted against Nicolas Guillou undermine the principle of judicial independence and the mandate of the ICC.” (US, Russia and others reject the ICC, it not lawful and it has NO power of the countries.)

The US has long opposed what it considers excessive regulation of social media platforms in the EU,including the bloc’s 2022 Digital Services Act (DSA). Breton played a key role in designing the rulebook thatimposes strict moderation requirementson tech companies such as X, Facebook, and Google. US officials have accused the EU ofusing the law to stifle free speechand censor American social media users.

The letter comes as Macron pushes for restrictions on children’s access to social media. He has said he will discuss the issue directly with Trump.

Last week, theFrench president dismissed social media platforms’ arguments in favor of free speech as “pure bulls**t,” calling for full transparency in how algorithms shape online discourse.

A gesture no one asked for: Ukraine turns the Paralympics into a political circus

A boycott over Russian and Belarusian participationreveals how Kiev weaponizes even the most apolitical stage

By Armen Gasparyan

Ukrainian officials have developed a notorious reputation for their wildly inappropriate grasp of reality, including when it comes to sports.

One would think the Paralympics is a celebration of the perseverance and triumph of athletes with disabilities – those who have spent years working tirelessly to achieve their goals, training extensively, competing in events, meeting qualifying standards, and earning their place at the Olympics. What is more positive than the Paralympic Games?

However, Ukrainian sports officials found a way to make headlines even here. They’redissatisfied with the fact that representatives from Russia and Belarus will compete under their nations’ flags at the 2026 Paralympics in Italy, so they’ve announced a boycott of the official opening ceremony. This sentiment was quickly echoed by Lithuania’s prime minister.

This makes me wonder about a few things. Firstly: why do the Ukrainians believe their presence at the opening ceremony of the Paralympics is so important that the entire world should hold its breath to see if they show up?

In reality, the attendance of any officials at major sporting events matters to no one but themselves – they hope to appear on camera and then proudly hang a photo of that moment in their office. No one else cares whether or not they come.

Secondly, what difference will it make for the Paralympic movement? None whatsoever. Do Ukrainian officials understand this? Sure. So, why are they doing it? The answer is clear: they need any opportunity to promote Ukraine. It doesn’t matter if it’s related to sports or the events surrounding the Paralympics – the idea is to showcase themselves and tell the world how proud and principled they are. Though actually, no one cares.

Even if the entire Ukrainian delegation, including athletes, doesn’t show, it won’t have the slightest impact on the Paralympic movement.

By doing so, Ukraine only reveals its true colors yet again. To express contempt for a Paralympian… I mean, how pathetic can you get?It would seem absurd to anyone – except Ukraine.

Robert de Niro Breaks Down in Tears After Mocking Trump’s Masculinity in Raving Interview with Nicolle Wallace

Warner Todd Huston23 Feb 2026

Rabid leftist Hollywood actor Robert De Nirochoked back tearson an MS NOW podcast claiming that President DonaldTrump is “destroying America” — just minutes after taking jabs at the Commander-in-Chief’s masculinity.

The foaming-at-the-mouth, anti-Trump, leftist actor appeared Monday on an MS NOW podcast hosted by liberal commentator Nicolle Wallace and railed about Trump, seemingly the only topic he is able to talk about any more.

He blasted Trumpcalling. him, “sadistic” and“cruel,”mocked Trump as “triggered”by“real men”with “displays of actual strength.”

The actor went on to explain, “He knows he’s never experienced or displayed anything like that in his life” — referring to Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) flying combat missions decades ago.De Niro, apparently, has forgottenabout Trump getting shot in the ear in Butler, PA, and instead of immediately retreating with his security, fist-pumping and telling his supporters to “fight.”

The story is our country and trump is destroying itand who knows what his reasons are but it’s sick, it’s fucked up. We have to save this country,” De Niro said.

He also choked up over “lifting people up,” which he thinks Trump doesn’t do.

“You have to bring them together. You can’t divide people you can’t win that way,”said the actor who callsRepublicans and their voters “Nazis.”

Wallace gushed that De Niro was making her cry, though she clearly wasn’t crying during the episode.

To that, the Casino star saidthat it is time to “resist, resist, resist.”

“I don’t know. All I know is people have to have to resist, resist, resist,”he exclaimed piously. “There’s no easy way. It’s not going to come to you easy. You know, there’s a time when you know in your own life andyour own survival You better do this. You better jump and run through the fire because if you don’t run through the fire, you’re not getting out and that’s what we have to do.”

(I’m pretty sure the FBI and SS, maybe with other agencies, should put De Niro through a psych test, to make sure he won’t harm himself or others!)
