Russia is aware of plans to attack trans-Black Sea gas pipelines, the TurkStream, and the Blue Stream, President Vladimir Putin has said.The plot is aimed at jeopardizing the peace process to end the Ukraine conflict, according to the president.
Putin made the remarks on Tuesday at a meeting of the Federal Security Service
(FSB) board, adding that intelligence on plans to attack “our gas systems under the Black Sea,” was obtained.
“They simply cannot calm down. They don’t know what else to do to derail the [Ukraine] peace processand the attempt to reach a settlement through diplomatic means. They aredoing everything to stage some kind of provocationandbreak everything that has been so carefully achieved on this negotiation track,” he said.

Gas and oil infrastructure in the Black Sea has repeatedly come under Ukrainian attacksamid the conflict between Moscow and Kiev. The attacks involved long-range UAV strikes against various facilities ashore, as well as repeated attempts to target Russian naval vessels patrolling the pipelines with sea drones.
Last October, FSB chief Aleksandr Bortnikovwarned that Ukraine and the UK were jointly preparing an attack on TurkStream.
London and Kiev have also beenplotting attacks on other critical infrastructure sites in Russia, using sea and aerial drones, as well as saboteur divers, Bortnikov said at the time.
The September 2022 bombing of the Nord Stream pipeline in the Baltic Sea is the largest-scale attack on underwater energy infrastructure in modern history. While the theory that it was carried out by a group of Ukrainian divers has become mainstream in the West, Moscow has been skeptical about that version, suggesting instead that Western state actors may have had a hand in the sabotage.

Hungary has vetoed the scheme and accused Ukraine of deliberately disrupting Russian oil supplies to the country
Ukraine's VladimirZelensky has demandedthat the EU approve a €90 billion ($106 billion) loan backed by the bloc’s taxpayers that has beenvetoed by Hungary.
Provisionally agreed upon last December, theplan envisages an interest-free loanto Ukraine for 2026-2027, with €60 billion earmarked for military needs and €30 billion for “general budget support.” It would be covered through joint EU borrowingand only repaid if Ukraine receives war reparations from Russia.
Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic opted outof contributing to the loan, which is estimated to result in up to €5.6 billion in annual interest payments for member states.
The scheme was approved after the bloc failed to agree to use Russia’s frozen central-bank assets to finance Ukraine due to opposition from several member states over the legal hurdles and risks.
Addressing the European Parliament via video link on Tuesday, Zelensky saidthat “right now there is an important decision… on the table – €90 billion in support for Ukraine over two years.”
“This is a real financial guarantee of our security and our resilience, and it must be implemented,”the Ukrainian leader insisted.

Ukraine expects its Western backers to cover a budget deficit of around $50 billion this year. El Pais reported in October that the Ukrainian government could run out of money by April.
Speaking last month, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that if approved, the EU loan would end up being stolen by corrupt Ukrainian officials.

Zelensky claims West could use elections to oust him
The Ukrainian leader reiterated he was open to a vote but cited a litany of perceived obstacles
Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has suggested that Kiev’s backers could bepressing him to hold elections as a pretext to force him out of power. Zelensky’s presidential term expired in 2024, at which point Russia began declaring him “illegitimate.”
In an interview released by the BBC on Sunday, Zelensky reiterated that holding elections in Ukraine is technically possible, butproceeded to outline a lengthy list of hurdles – including millions of Ukrainians displaced abroad, Kiev’s lack of full territorial control, and the need to amend electoral legislation. He then appeared to challenge his Western supporters.
“I told the partners, ‘you need to decide one thing: you want to get rid of me or you want to hold elections?’”he said.
Zelensky then insisted that regardless of the answer, the elections should be “honest.” “Hold them in a way that the Ukrainian people will recognize, first of all. And you yourself must recognize that these are legitimate elections.”
Zelensky’s five-year presidential term expired in May 2024, and he has dragged his feet on holding a new vote, citing martial law. Russia has since labelled him an “illegitimate” leader, arguing that his dubious legal status renders any peace agreement he signs legally void.
However, US President Donald Trump has been pressing Zelensky to hold new elections, at one point going as far as to brand him a “dictator.” In the face of US pressure, the Ukrainian leader said that he could hold a vote within 60 to 90 days, but demanded Western security guarantees and a ceasefire with Russia. Moscow has opposed a temporary ceasefire, warning that any pause would merely allow battered Ukrainian forces to regroup and rearm.
Polling also suggests that potential elections would be perilous for Zelensky. A SOCIS poll published in December 2025 indicated that former commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny – now Ukraine's ambassador to the UK – would secure 64% of the vote against Zelensky’s 36% in a potential run-off.

BRUSSELS, Feb 24 (Reuters)– The European Commission will submit a legal proposal to permanently ban Russian oil imports on April 15, three days after Hungary’s parliamentary election, according to EU officials and a document seen by Reuters.
Two EU officials told Reutersthe timing was designed to prevent the oil ban becoming a major factor in Hungary’s election campaign. Hungary and Slovakia, still reliant on Russian oil imports, are strongly opposed to any ban.
In the April 12 election, Hungarian PrimeMinister Viktor Orban and his nationalist Fidesz party are facing the biggest challenge to their hold on power in 16 years.
The EU has already imposed sanctions on imports of seaborne Russian oil. But it wants toenshrine a full phase-out of Russian oil in legislation that would remain in place, even if a peace dealin the Ukraine war led to the EU lifting sanctions.

The highest court in Panama has nulled the ‘Chinese’ contractfor the operation of both entrance ports on the Panama Canal. The Panamanian government took back control and assigned operations to APM Terminals, a subsidiary of the Danish group A.P. Moller-Martel.
The state takeover comes after a 14-month long saga begun by President Trump who reasserted American interests in the hemisphere andrejected the concept of allowing China to have strategic control over such vital North American infrastructure.
President Trump did not mince words in December of 2024 when he said,“[The Panama Canal] was not given for the benefit of others, but merely as a token of cooperation with us and Panama,” Trump concluded. “If the principles, both moral and legal, of this magnanimous gesture of giving are not followed, then we will demand that the Panama Canal be returned to us, in full, and without question.” Marco Rubio was then dispatched as an intermediaryin Feb 2025.
Then, last month, Panama’s Supreme Court struck down the law approving the concession contract for Panama Ports Company, a subsidiary of CK Hutchison (China/Hong Kong). The court ruling also invalidated an extensiongranted in 2021, stripping the port operations of any current legal standing. Now, Panama has taken over.

Hong Kong’s CK Hutchison said on Tuesday that Panama’s government had “made direct physical entry into the terminals at Balboa and Cristobal” and assumed “administrative and operational control” over the two ports on the Panama Canal.
The company said the “unlawful” takeover reflects the culmination of a campaign by the Panamanian state against its subsidiary, Panama Ports, following the Supreme Court ruling last month.
According to a government decree, the Panama Maritime Authority has been authorised to occupy the ports for “reasons of urgent social interest”, according to The Associated Press (AP) news agency. (read more)

However, if youstand back from the western media, what you will notice from this attack is not the target in Russia, but the customersat the end of the pipeline in Europe, mainly Hungary and Slovakia.

Well, with the anniversary of the Russian Federation beginning the war into Ukraine, the Europeans who now control the militaryoperations inside Ukraine are targeting European countries who do not align with their bloodlust, specifically Hungary and Slovakia.
Both Hungary and Slovakia are land locked countries without easy access seaports. Because of their geographic locations, they rely on Russian oil and gas for their energy needs. Hungary and Slovakia have not wanted to expand the war against Russia.
The EU is demanding Hungary and Slovakia agree to expanded war.
The European ‘coalition of the willing’ is now targeting key Russian infrastructure that supplies energy products to European countries who are not in compliance with the EU dictates of war.

As several American citizens remain detained in Afghanistan, U.S. officials have announced an escalation of pressure on the Taliban.
Sebastian Gorka, Senior Director for Counterterrorism at the United States National Security Council, wrote on X on Thursday,February 19, that Washington “will not rest” until Dennis Coyle and Mahmood Habibi return to the United States.
Meanwhile, U.S. representatives at theUnited Nations Security Council have drafted a resolution to extendfor one year the mandate of the sanctions monitoring team.
Under the proposal,sanctions against Taliban-affiliated entities, including travel bans, an arms embargo, and asset freezes, would remain in place.
U.S. officials said the move isdriven by human rights violations, restrictions on women and girls, and the Taliban’s “use of hostage-taking as leverage.”
At the same time,Tim Burchett,a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives, introduced a bill in January titled the“No Taxpayer Funding for Terrorists Act.”
The bill would require the U.S. State Department to develop a strategy to prevent countries and non-governmental organizations from financially supporting the Taliban.

Previously, several foreign nationals released from Taliban custody reported harsh prison conditions, including detention in basements and a lack of access to basic services.
The escalation of U.S. political and legal pressure on the Taliban comes as formal relations between the two sides remain unestablished, andthe detention of foreign nationals has become one of the central sources of tension between Kabul and Washington.

BREAKING News: 2 Christian County deputies killed, 2 other officers wounded; man wanted in shooting also dead

NEAR HIGHLANDVILLE, Mo. (KY3) - A manhunt connected to the killing of a Christian County deputy is over, with a second Christian County deputy killed.The suspect, Richard Bird, was shot and killed by law officers.
Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole says two other deputies, one from Christian County, the other from Webster County, were wounded, with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
The gunfire happened early Tuesday morning, close to the roundabout on State Highway 160 near Reeds Spring, where officers from across the Ozarkshad been searching for Bird after Bird’s vehicle was found abandoned.
Cole says Bird ran into a wooded area, and after hours of searching, a Highway Patrol helicopter noticed a moving heat signature.As deputies moved in, Bird started shooting, and deputies returned fire.
The initial shooting began south of Highlandville around 4 p.m. Monday during a traffic stop on State Highway 160 and Route HH.
Officials have identified the first Christian County deputy killed as Deputy Gabriel Ramirez. He was 30 years old. The second deputy was killed, and the two who were wounded have not been identified.
Sheriff Cole says around 100 officers, deputies, and state troopers assisted in the manhunt. He says US Marshals and agents with the FBI and ATF were also involved.
Law enforcement recovered Bird's pickup truck in Reeds Spring. Bird is believed to have left the truck and fled into the woods in Stone County, Mo.(KY3)
