Bayer acquired Monsanto in a $63 billion all-cash transaction, which was completed on June 7, 2018, following regulatory approvals from the U.S. Department of Justice (May 29, 2018) and the European Union (March 21, 2018). The merger created one of the world’s largest agricultural companies, integrating Monsanto’s seed and pesticide businesses into Bayer’s Crop Science division.
Following the acquisition, Bayer announced it would retire the Monsanto name, and the combined company now operates solely under the Bayer brand. However, Monsanto’s product brands—such as Roundup, Xtend, and Dicamba—remain in use.
The merger has been heavily impacted by massive litigation over Roundup, a glyphosate-based herbicide. In 2015, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified glyphosate as “probably carcinogenic to humans.” This led to over 181,000 lawsuits in the U.S., with more than 67,000 still pending as of May 2025.

Trump sees "Big Farmer" as superior US technology, and the fact that no one wants to eat this GMO shit, has completely escaped him.
Just recently, the Chinese rejected a massive shipment of Soybeans (Trump bragged about this, in one of his speeches), claiming GMO contamination, and they also rejected the corn as it had a fungus infection.
That was a $32BILLION hit to the US farmer, which led Trump to take the stymie checks, and send them to the farmers.
Unfortunately, Monsanto completely controls the US seed supply, and the Framers have to plant another crop of GMO rubbish, which will once again be completely unsalable, as no one wants it.
This will likely bankrupt the big farmers, as their cost of operation is far too high, to survive two years of no sales.
On the right side, Bill Gates is ready to buy up all the distressed farms, so there is that to look forward too.
