New York Times Gushes over China-Competing Eileen Gu, Chastises U.S. Hockey Team for Trump Visit

Alana Mastrangelo25 Feb 2026

The New York Times praised Eileen Gu, an American-born Olympic skier who chose to compete for China, and criticized the U.S. men’s Olympic hockey team, claiming they “lost the room” for visiting President Donald Trump after their gold medal win.

In the newspaper’s sports section, The Athletic, the Times published a headline titled“Inside the mind of Eileen Gu, Winter Olympics superstar — and so much more,” which lauded the athlete as “the most decorated freestyle skier.”

“With three silvers and three golds to her name across two Olympics, Gu is a freak of nature, extraordinary in every sense of the word. So what is next for a young woman who seems to have it all?” the Times gushed.

The Athletic‘s analysis further raved,“You would be forgiven if you thought Gu was a quasi-human robot expertly created by artificial intelligence,” before describing her responses to the media as“so eloquent.”

The piece went on to celebrate Gu as someone who “can fly without someone trying to clip her wings” when she skis, bizarrely claiming, “It is the only time she does not have to answer questions about U.S. President Donald Trump, Vice-President JD Vance.”

The following day, the Times‘ sports section published an entirely different take on Americans who actually competed for the United States.

In a Tuesday article headlined“The U.S. men’s Olympic hockey team won gold — and then lost the room,” The Athletic‘s Jerry Brewer acknowledged that speaking with the U.S. president after an Olympic gold win wouldtypically be “an obligatory celebration,” but argued these are not “normal times” with President Trump in office.

“This isn’t a neutral climate. This isn’t a neutral president. And in a nation this polarized, the proximity carries weight whether the players are being intentional or merely naive,” Brewer wrote.

“America no longer experiences these rituals in the same way, and it may never again. Athletes would be wise to recognize that, in this climate, celebration is easily repurposed into political capital,” he added.

The piece went on to claim thatthe U.S. men’s hockey team “narrowed their moment” when they “stepped so early into that embrace.”

“It doesn’t ruin what they accomplished in defeating a seemingly indomitable Canadian squad. But the widespread celebration is over now. And some of their goodwill has diminished,” Brewer argued.

(If the NYT’s hates Trump, the whole world has to.)

Term ‘forced mobilization’ is ‘enemy language’ – Ukrainian officials

The Dnepropetrovsk regional recruitment center has called for words like ‘busification’ to be censored as Russian propaganda

Anyone criticizing Ukraine’s forced mobilization campaign has fallen for Russian propaganda and is using the “language of the enemy,” a military recruitment centerin Dnepropetrovsk Region has suggested.

Ukraine’s mobilization drive has grown increasingly brutal amid escalating manpower shortages in recent months. There are hundreds of documented cases of draft officers using force to snatch men off the streets, illegally breaking into vehicles and homes, and brawling with onlookers. There have also beenmultiple reports of deaths among conscripts.

The process of violently packing unwilling recruits into minibuses commonly used by Ukrainian press gangshas become colloquially known in Ukraine as ‘busification.’

On Tuesday, Dnepropetrovsk Region’s Territorial Center of Recruitment and Social Support (TSR) reposted on its Facebook account an article by ArmyInform media outlet that warned that Ukraine’s “information space” is being “infected” with alleged Russian “artificial terms.” The article categorically states that there are no such things as “man-trappers” or “busifications.”

“Anyone who spreads hostile words is working for the enemy, even if they don’t realize it,” the article claimed.

“Both Ukrainian media and Ukrainian citizens should have long ago abandoned the terminology imposed by Russian propaganda and strictly tabooed it,” the author insisted.

According to the publication, the term ‘busification’ is being used to portray the “legitimate actions of the Ukrainian state to get conscripted citizens to fulfill their constitutional duty as illegal persecution.”

Among other words that should be off limitsto the Ukrainian media and public at large are the “concentration camp country,” as well as “forced mobilization,” and “mobilization slavery,” == the ArmyInform story says.

As for cases of abuse by draft officers caught on camera, the article suggests that most of them are “fabricated” by Moscowand are deliberately being spread in the Ukrainian public domain.

Ukrainian officials have also routinely dismissed grievances over forced mobilization as fabrications and “Russian propaganda.”

However, earlier this month, human rights ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets told Ukrainian lawmakers thathis office was receiving an “avalanche” of complaints against draft officials, indicative of a “systemic crisis.”

I’m Ukrainian – Russia’s UN ambassador

Vassily Nebenzia has said his parents were of Zaporozhian Cossackheritage and were more Ukrainian than the current leadership in Kiev

Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, has said he is Ukrainian, citing his parents’ roots.

Speaking at the UN Security Council meeting on Tuesday, the Russian diplomat stated that “formally speaking, I am Ukrainian.”

“I have such a strange last name – the Slavs know it’s hard to find even in Ukraine. It originates from The Zaporozhian Cossacks,” he clarified. The ethno-social group, known for its military exploits as early as the 16th century, played an important role in the history of what is today Ukraine.

“My father was a true Ukrainian, and my mother was of Cossack heritage, too,”Nebenzia said, claiming that they were more Ukrainian than Kiev’s current Deputy Foreign Minister Mariana Betsa and ambassador to the UN Andrey Melnik. The Russian envoy recounted how his father volunteered to join the Soviet army during World War II to fight the Nazis.

The diplomat accused the current leadership in Kiev of “zombifying” the Ukrainian population into becoming modern-day Nazis. Russia’s ongoing military campaign is aimed at reversing these trends, according to Nebenzia, who added that it would continue for as long as necessary to achieve this goal.

“To us, there is no difference – we are all one – millions of Ukrainians in Russia, millions of Russians in Ukraine, and in Belarus as well,”the diplomat concluded.

Moscow has repeatedly warned of a Nazi revival in Ukraine, describing “denazification” as one of the central goals of its military campaign against Kiev.

Commemorations of World War II-era nationalist figures with ties to Nazi Germany have become increasingly common in Ukraine in recent years, particularly following the 2014 Maidan coup.

Last April, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said thatUkraine had “betrayed” its history by allowing the West to bring a Nazi regime to power in Kiev, which went on to declare “war against its own people.”

EU talk on further seizure of Russian assets ‘is closed’ – German FM

The bloc has failed to secure backing for a controversial plan to effectively steal Russia’s sovereign wealth

Germany has ruled out seizing frozen Russian assets to aid Ukraine, with Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul saying the issue is no longer on the EU agenda.

Ukraine’s Western backers froze $300 billion in Russian sovereign assets after the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022. The majority is held at the Belgian-based Euroclear depository. Brussels has long opposed the idea of seizing the assets, withBelgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever saying such a move would amount to a “declaration of war” against Moscow.

“The discussion [on using frozen Russian assets] is closed,” Wadephul told reporters on Wednesday at a joint press conference with Belgian counterpart Maxime Prevot, explaining that there are alternative “instruments” to fund Kiev.

In December, the EU failed to agree on using the funds as collateral for a ‘reparations loan’ for Ukraine due to opposition from Belgium and other member states. Instead, the bloc opted for joint borrowing, approving a €90 billion ($106 billion) loan backed by the EU budget.

Wadephul said the “loan path” was decided at EU level and Russian assets would be “addressed in the future.” He noted that while Hungary had agreed in December “viaPrime Minister Orban,” its foreign minister was now blocking the agreement, and described Budapest’s veto as “a contradiction that has no explanation and is unacceptable.”

Budapest last week imposed a veto on the loan for Ukraine in response to Kiev “blackmailing” Hungary and violating its obligations to the EU by halting oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline.

Hungary and Ukraine remain locked in a bitter dispute over the Soviet-era conduit, which carries Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia and has been out of operation since late January. Kiev claims the pipeline was damaged by Russia, an allegation Moscow denies. Budapest, Bratislava, and Moscow accuse Kiev of deliberately halting supplies for political reasons.

On Tuesday, Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky urged EU lawmakers to unlock the €90 billion loan package. Hungary has signaled it would only consider lifting its veto if Kiev resumes oil flows through the pipeline.

Moscow has strongly opposed any seizure of its frozen assets, denouncing it as theft and warning of severe repercussions. In December, the Bank of Russia filed a lawsuit against Euroclear in a Moscow court seeking $232 billion in compensation for frozen assets and lost profits. The clearing house now faces more than 100 legal claims in Russian courts, according to reports.

Cuba identifies ‘terrorist infiltrators’ from US

The suspects’ boat was loaded with tactical gear, assault rifles and improvised explosives, according to authorities on the island

Cuba’s Interior Ministry has released new findings from its investigation into the deadly gunfight between Cuban border guards and a US‑flagged speedboat, saying the vessel was carrying ten armed men who allegedly intended to execute a “terrorist infiltration.”

Havana said the clash erupted on Wednesday when border guards approached a Florida‑registered vessel, FL7726SH, operating roughly one nautical mile off the northern coast of Villa Clara province for an identification check. The individuals aboard the boat allegedly opened fire first, wounding the commander of a Cuban patrol craft before guards returned fire, killing four people and injuring six others.

Cuban officials said weapons and tactical gear were found aboard, including assault rifles, sidearms, handmade explosive devices such as Molotov cocktails, ballistic vests, telescopic sights and camouflage uniforms – equipment the ministry said was consistent with an attempted “infiltration with terrorist objectives.”

READ MORE: Cuban border guards kill four gunmen on US-flagged speedboat

Among those killed in the firefight, Cuban authorities have so far identified Michel Ortega Casanova and said they are still working to identify the three remaining deceased.

Among those detained, authorities have identified all six participants by name, and some appear on Cuba’s “national list of individuals and entities” sought for alleged links to past violence and terrorist activities.

All participants are believed to be Cuban nationals listed as residing in the United States. The Interior Ministry also announced the arrest of a seventh individual, Duniel Hernandez Santos, who has reportedly confessed that he had been sent from the US in advance to coordinate the landing of the armed group.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described the incident as “an aggressive provocation by the United States, aimed at escalating the situation and detonating a conflict.”

Washington has denied any involvement, with US Secretary of StateMarco Rubio insisting the vessel did not belong to either the US Navy or the US Coast Guard. “Let’s have our own information on this, and we will find out exactly what happened,” Rubio told reporters, refusing to speculate until reviewing independent data.

US denies involvement in gunfight off Cuban coast

Havana has said the crew of an American-flagged vessel attacked a coast guard patrol

(Would a coast guard patrol get so close to be in Cuban territory? I don’t think so. It seems, they were not in Cuba’s territory. Or was it another US agency boat?)

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has denied any American government involvement in a deadly gunfight between Cuban border guards and a US-flagged speedboat, describing the incident as “very unusual.”

Cuban authorities announced on Wednesday that border guard forces had killed four armed men aboard a US-flagged speedboat that allegedly opened fire during an identification check in the island’s territorial waters near Villa Clara province.

The vessel did not belong to either the US Navy or the US Coast Guard, Rubio told reporters during a diplomatic visit to Saint Kitts and Nevis, adding that Washington was still gathering information and would avoid speculation until after reviewing independent data.

“Let’s have our own information on this, and we will find out exactly what happened,”Rubio said, adding that US officials had not held direct discussions with Havana following the incident.

“This isn’t something that happens every day… it’s very unusual to see gunfire,”Rubio added.

Under American law, unauthorized entry by US-flagged vessels into Cuban territorial waters is prohibited without federal authorization.

Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump extended a Clinton-era national emergency measure, arguing that such voyages could undermine American foreign policy and potentially “facilitate a mass migration from Cuba.”

Despite Rubio’s description of the shooting as exceptional, similar armed confrontations have occurred in recent years. Cuban authorities reported multiple exchanges of gunfire involving US-registered boats in 2022 linked to migrant-smuggling operations.

In one case, the US Coast Guard even helped intercept a fleeing vessel and later returned one suspected shooter to Cuba, according to the New York Times.

Top AIs deploy nukes in 95% of war game simulations – study

Leading language models showed little “horror or revulsion” at the prospect of all-out nuclear war, a researcher has found

Leading artificial intelligence models chose to deploy nuclear weapons in 95% of simulated geopolitical crises, according to a recent study published by King’s College London, raising concerns about the growing role of AI in military decision-making.

Kenneth Payne, a professor of strategy, pitted OpenAI’s GPT-5.2, Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4, and Google’s Gemini 3 Flash against each other in 21 war games involving border disputes, competition for resources, and threats to regime survival. The models generated roughly 780,000 words explaining their decisions across 329 turns.

In 95% of games, at least one model employed tactical nuclear weapons against military targets. Strategic nuclear threats – demanding surrender under threat of attacks on cities – occurred in 76% of games. In 14% of games, models escalated to all-out strategic nuclear war, attacking population centers.

This included one deliberate choice by Gemini, while GPT-5.2 reached this level twice through simulated errors – meant to simulate real-world accidents or miscalculations – that pushed its already extreme escalations over the threshold.

“Nuclear use was near-universal,” Payne wrote. “Strikingly, there was little sense of horror or revulsion at the prospect of all out nuclear war, even though the models had been reminded about the devastating implications.”

None of the AI systems chose to surrender or concede to an opponent, regardless of how badly they were losing. The eight de-escalatory options – from “Minimal Concession” to “Complete Surrender” – went entirely unused across all 21 games.

James Johnson at the University of Aberdeen described the findings as “unsettling” from a nuclear-risk perspective. Tong Zhao at Princeton University noted that while countries are unlikely to hand nuclear decisions to machines, “under scenarios involving extremely compressed timelines, military planners may face stronger incentives to rely on AI.”

The study comes as AI has been getting integrated into militaries across the world, including in the US, where the Pentagon reportedly used Anthropic’s Claude model in its January operation to abduct Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

While Anthropic has raised concerns over the use of its AI for such operations, other AI makers like OpenAI, Google, and Elon Musk’s xAI have reportedly agreed to remove or weaken restrictions on the military use of their models.

US deploys fighter jets to Israel – media

Washington has reportedly sent a dozen F-22 stealth fighters to the Middle East amid rising tensions with Iran (that Israel caused)

The US has deployed a squadron of advanced F-22 Raptor stealth fighter jets to an Israeli Air Force base in the country’s south, multiple media outlets claimed on Tuesday, citing US officials and flight tracking data. The reported move comes as part of a major US military buildup in the Middle East amid escalating tensions with Iran.

Twelve F-22s were seen taking off from Royal Air Force Lakenheath in England on Tuesday, according to videos and photos published by plane spotters and verified by the New York Times.

A US official confirmed to the Times of Israel and NYT that the fighters were being sent to Israel and that some had already arrived. The deployment marks the first known operational movement of F-22s to the region amid the ongoing standoff with Tehran.

Retired US Air Force Lieutenant General David Deptula described the move as significant, telling NYT it “indicates preparation for a more aggressive stance toward Iran and potential cooperation with Israel in an attack. It signals that the US is serious about attacking if Iran does not agree to US terms.”

Last week, US President Donald Trump gave Iran a ten to 15-day ultimatum to reach an agreement on dismantling its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, warning that “really bad things” will happen if it does not comply.

Washington has already deployed two aircraft carrier strike groups to the Middle East. Multiple media outlets report that US plans for possible strikes are at an advanced stage, with options including targeting individual leaders and pursuing regime change.

Tehran has signaled it prefers a diplomatic path and is preparing a draft proposal for new negotiations, according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

However, an Iranian defense source warned in a statement to RT that any attack would be deemed a “full-scale war” and would be met with a “broad and unlimited response.”

Russia has urged a peaceful settlement, with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warning that strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites could cause a nuclear disaster.

The US previously struck Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025 during Israel’s 12-day air campaign against the country.

The Truth About DUI Checkpoints

Few policies illustrate the erosion of liberty more clearly than DUI checkpoints. 1/2

Few policies illustrate the erosion of liberty more clearly than DUI checkpoints. They are the state’s sanctioned intrusion into the daily lives of citizens, where searches are performed without cause, suspicion, or apology. In colonial America, such unwarranted impositions were called “general warrants” and were used by the British to enter any premise looking for smuggled goods. These abuses were a major grievance that fueled the American Revolution.

When drafting the Constitution, the Founders drafted the Fourth Amendment precisely to prevent this sort of behavior. It reads plainly: “The right of the people to be secure… against unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause.” Yet today, Americans are stopped on public roads not because they are suspected of committing a crime, but because they are convenient targets. Their rights are not violated for cause, but for the mere fact that they happened to be on the road where government agents set up shop.

Call it what it is: a DUI checkpoint is a dragnet. It is a warrantless, suspicionless stop, predicated not on an individual’s actions, but on their presence. And it is often a pretense. Despite the name, these checkpoints rarely catch drunk drivers in any significant number. What they do catch are expired tags, broken taillights, missed insurance payments, and unpaid tickets – infractions that pad municipal budgets but do little to remove dangerous drivers from the road.

To justify this, the courts have engaged in some of the most tortured logic seen in modern jurisprudence. In Michigan Dept. of State Police v. Sitz (1990), the Supreme Court held that DUI checkpoints do not violate the Fourth Amendment. Writing for the majority, Chief Justice William Rehnquist asserted that the state’s interest in preventing drunk driving outweighed the “minimal intrusion” on motorists. This is a revealing phrase. “Minimal intrusion,” like “reasonable restriction,” is a sleight of hand designed to downplay state overreach under the guise of safety.

The Court’s reasoning effectively flipped the Constitution on its head. Rather than asking whether the government has sufficient cause to stop an individual, it asked whether the government has a good enough reason to trample the unambiguous language in the Bill of Rights. This is not constitutional law. This is the denial of it.

If we apply this logic more broadly, where does it end? If the state’s interest in catching offenders outweighs the inconvenience of the innocent, why not checkpoints at malls, schools, or homes? Why not stop every citizen at random and ask where they’ve been, what they’ve bought, and what they’re carrying? If the only standard is state interest, unbounded by probable cause, then we are no longer citizens empowered with individual liberty. We are perpetual suspects by default.

The practical consequences of these checkpoints should not be ignored. They are ripe for abuse. Officers do not simply check for intoxication – they run plates, demand identification, and inspect vehicles. In minority and low-income communities, the consequences are especially severe.A routine checkpoint can become an arrest, a towing, a fine that snowballs into a license suspension, a bench warrant, or worse.

>>24311048

2/2

The argument that checkpoints are a deterrent is equally hollow. Studies have shown that patrols officers actively on the lookout for erratic driving are far more effective at catching impaired drivers than stationary checkpoints. However, the checkpoints are far more efficient than patrols in pursuing the unspoken goal of generating revenue.

That is the dirty secret of modern enforcement: it is often less about law and order than it is about control and collection. DUI checkpoints may catch the occasional intoxicated driver, but their real utility lies in their ability to cast a wide net in order to troll for fineable offenses. They are the low-hanging fruit of municipal revenue, rationalized in the name of safety but functioning as roadside tax collectors.

7_74_19.gif

This is not to say that drunk driving is not a serious issue. It is. Lives are lost every year to impaired drivers, and the state has a legitimate interest in preventing such tragedies. But that interest must be pursued within the bounds of the Constitution. Convenience should not be a pretense for the abandonment of principle. We do not surrender liberty simply because it is easier to govern without it.

DUI checkpoints may be advertised as a tactic to save lives, but their primary effect is to normalize warrantless searches and condition the populace to accept arbitrary government intrusions as a natural part of life.

Checkpoints today may be about sobriety, but tomorrow they may be about something else entirely – guns, political materials, or "domestic extremism." The machinery is already in place. The precedent is already set. All that’s needed is a new pretense.

The Constitution was written precisely for the times when fear and expediency tempt us to trade liberty for the illusion of safety. DUI checkpoints represent a quiet, creeping betrayal of that principle. If liberty is to mean anything, it must include the right to move about freely without being stopped by agents of the state when not a shred of suspicion exists.

That is not a radical concept. That is the Fourth Amendment.

A primer on taxation and productivity

The rich get more back because they pay more to start with.

“The wealthy are getting bigger tax breaks,” Democrats incessantly howl.

Or, “The wealthy are poised to receive larger tax refunds than the less fortunate.”

The proper response to these inane assertions would be, “Yes, and do you know why that is? It's because they pay more in taxes.

In fact, by some measures, the top 1% of income earners pay nearly 40% of the federal income taxes.” The bottom half of income earners, or non-income earners, pay virtually no federal taxes at all.

This is as if progressives would be enraged if somebody who spent $1,000 at Menards got more money back via the company’s 11% rebate then somebody who spent $10 at Menards. That would be insane.

Should we go to a progressive rebate structure, too, based on one’s income level? Those on the left would probably say 'yes.' But, again, most wealthy people already pay far more in taxes via our “progressive” tax rate than do those less well-heeled.And that discrepancy doesn't even take into account the myriad other income transferprograms and schemes for which someone other than the recipients must pay. Nor does it consider or reflect the inconceivablyvast levels of Democrat corruption and fraud– or the related billions of dollars in freebies for illegal aliens that must either explode the debt or be paid for by higher income earners.

To wit, Elon Musk recently claimed that he has paid over $10 billion in cumulative taxes as the most soaked individual taxpayer in history.

As California, among other states, is poised to find out, if you punish the talented, productive and job-producing, you will be left with the incompetent, shiftless, and welfare-addicted. And you sentence your state — and its residents – to a dismal and dystopian future.

In a related story, new New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani promised his constituents “free” buses. And the city’s first “Free” Grocery Store just opened. Fox News reportedthat “hundreds of New Yorkers queued up outside a pop-up shop offering free groceries.”

But how can anything be truly free? Will farmers donate their produce? Will shipping and packaging be done for free? Are store employees willing to work for nothing? (Hell, they’re barely willing to work for good wages.) So, in the end, guess who pays? Guess who always pays?

Looks like we’ve got some ‘splainin’ to do. O.K.,Democrats, for there to be a product or service that some people “are not paying for,” others would have to not be paid for their labor.

Of course, this cannot be the case, at least at scale. So, what people mean when they say something is free, is that others must be made to pay for it. And when some people are made to pay more and more for things that are provided to other people for free, they will naturally do the logical thing and flee that state or municipality, taking their productivity and money with them.

This is doubly bad for the state from which they fled. But, a large, and apparently growing, percentage of the populace either doesn't understand the connection,or doesn't care as long as they can get free stuff, provided by others. These are not the “moral” people that John Adams and the other founders were speaking of, as regards the Constitution.

When government demonizes the most productive segment of the population and confiscates ever more of its money, those in that population tend to try to protect themselves and their families’ financial future.Surprise! Who woulda thunk?

Butso-called progressives live in an alternate “reality,” albeit one that can never become real. At some point, Atlas Shrugs.

And with him go the rest of us.

This Al Green ain't singing ‘Let's stay together’

How does Al Green represent his district if he is unwilling to accept that Donald Trump is president?

Silvio Canto, Jr. | February 26, 2026

It happens every time that President Trump goes to Congress. We remember when Congressman Al Green went on an impeachment binge and now he was back with something about apes. Here is the incident in case you missed it:

Well, we knew the Democrat antics ahead of and during Tuesday night's State of the Union address from President Donald Trump would not disappoint, and it surely hasn't so far, withDemocrat Rep. Al Green (TX-09) keeping up his tradition of getting kicked out of Trump presidential addresses by being deported out of this one, too.

Green was seen during the early portion of Trump's speech holding up a "Black people aren't apes" sign. He was ejected soon after:

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise swiped at the sign as he entered with the president, and multiple GOP members including Reps. Pat Fallon of Texas and John McGuire of Virginia tried to block the sign from cameras. Rep. Troy Nehls of Texas also tried to convince Green to stand down, whileGOP Sens. Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma and Roger Marshall of Kansas walked over to stand in front of the sign right before he was removed.

[…]

Green, who has repeatedly sought to impeach Trump, was removed from last year’s address after interrupting Trump and waving his cane at him. He stood through the start of the speech Tuesday, holding the sign while the rest of the chamber was seated.

That's Al for you. He always wants to get thrown out of the speech.I guess it must pay dividends in his district or something like that. It probably gets him an invitation on MS-Now or Don Lemon's podcast.

The real question is this:How can Green represent his district if he is unwilling to accept that Donald Trump is president?I understand that he does not like him but how does represent his voters to do this?He does not. Honestly, does he even care about his district?

I miss the other Al Green who sang "Let's stay together." At least that Al was trying to keep us together.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia asks U.S. judge in Tennessee to dismiss his criminal case, saying it’s vindictive

Abrego, whose mistaken deportation has galvanized both sides of the immigration debate, claims that the criminal prosecution is vindictive. (Its supposed to be to criminals)

(Only NBC write this article!)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Attorneys for Kilmar Abrego Garcia will try to persuade a federal judge in Tennessee on Thursday tothrow out human smuggling charges against him.

Abrego, whosemistaken deportation-has galvanized both sides of the immigration debate, claims that the criminal prosecution is vindictive, pushed by officials from President Donald Trump’s administration to punish him after they were forced to bring him back to the United States.

While Abrego is a Salvadoran citizen, a court order from 2019 prevents him from being deported to that country. That’s because an immigration judge determined he faced danger in El Salvador from a gang that had threatened his family. Abrego, 30, immigrated to the U.S. illegally as a teenager but has an American wife and child. He has lived and worked in Maryland for years under the supervision of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

After he was deported to El Salvadorlast year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled the Trump administration had to work to bring him back. He was eventually returned to the U.S. only to face criminal charges of human smuggling based on a 2022 traffic stop in Tennessee. He has pleaded not guilty. (It wasn’t the SC was it?)

Body camera footage from a Tennessee Highway Patrol officer shows a calm exchange with Abrego after he was pulled over for speeding. There were nine passengers in the car, and the officers discussed among themselves their suspicions of smuggling. However, Abrego was eventually allowed to continue driving with only a warning.

U.S. DistrictJudge Waverly Crenshawpreviously found some evidence that the prosecution against Abrego “may be vindictive.” The judge said many statements by Trump administration officials “raise cause for concern.” He cited a statement by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche that seemed to suggest the Department of Justice charged Abrego because he won his wrongful-deportation case.

Abrego’s attorneys have been sparring with prosecutors for months over whether officials like Blanche would be required to testify at Thursday’s hearing and what emails Department of Justice officials would have to turn over to them. First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee Rob McGuire has argued that he alone made the decision to prosecute, so the motives of other officials were irrelevant.

Crenshaw reviewed many of the disputed documents. In an order that was unsealed in late December, he wrote, “Some of the documents suggest not only that McGuire was not a solitary decision-maker, but he in fact reported to othersin DOJ and the decision to prosecute Abrego may have been a joint decision.”

This article is written in lousy grammar and everything sounds like a guess that our DOJ is at the ones that did something wrong, certainly not Kilmar!

Americans are leaving the US in record numbers(Finally)

Story by Drew Hinshaw, Joe Parkinson • 17h WSJ

In its 250th year, is America, land of immigration, becoming a country of emigration?

Last year the U.S. experienced something that hasn’t definitively occurred since the Great Depression: More people moved out than moved in. The Trump administration has hailed the exodus—negative net migration—as the fulfillment of its promise to ramp up deportations and restrict new visas. Beneath the stormy optics of that immigration crackdown, however, lies a less-noticed reversal: America’s own citizens are leaving in record numbers, replanting themselves and their families in lands they find more affordable and safe.

Since the Eisenhower administration, the U.S. hasn’t collected comprehensive statistics on the number of citizens leaving. Yet data on residence permits, foreign home purchases, student enrollments and other metrics from more than 50 countries show that Americans are voting with their feet to an unprecedented degree. A millions-strong diaspora is studying, telecommuting and retiring overseas.

The new American dream, for some of its citizens, is to no longer live there.

In the cobblestoned streets of Lisbon, so many Americans are snapping up apartments that the newest arrivals complain they mostly hear their own language—not Portuguese. One of every 15 residents in Dublin’s trendy Grand Canal Dock district was born in the U.S., according to realtors, higher than the percentage of Americans born in Ireland during the 19th-century influx following the Potato Famine. In Bali, Colombia and Thailand, the strains of housing American remote workers paid in dollars have inspired locals to mount protests against a wave of gentrification.

(Sounds like WSJ is running an ad for Americans to foreign countries because they are so much better, even mentioning Spain where the country is Communist. ButThis doesn’t sound like a bad thing to this anon)

Thank you for your solidarity with Ukrainians and for supporting our resolution at the UN General Assembly marking the fourth anniversary of the start of the full-scale Russian aggression. I appreciate such warm words about our people and the need for peace for Ukraine. This is exactly what we discussed – how to end the war unleashed by Russia and provide Ukrainians with reliable security guarantees.

The President noted the introduction of sanctions against the Iranian regime. Ukraine’s position is always clear: no terrorist in the world should remain unpunished. Only this can restore security and stability. We are closely monitoring developments around Iran and the actions of the regime that supports Russia’s war and supplied Russia with “shahed” drones for terror against Ukrainians.
