Proof that California is and has been giving hard earned citizen tax dollars to illegals (and also reduced asset limits to give our money to people who had loads of assets and presumably could pay for it themselves)! WTF?
From 2026 Guidelines for Medi-Cal (state version of federal Medicaid):
"3. How to Qualify
"To find out if you qualify for one of Medi-Cal’s programs, look at your countable monthly income and assets. As of January 1, 2026, California’s asset (aka resource) limits for most Medi-Cal programs have beenreinstated to $130,000 for an individual and $195,000 for a couple.''
"For SSI, the asset levels [are] more strict[:] $2,000 for an individual and $3,000 for a couple [but have been waived in California for years].
Also, as of January 1, 2024, full scope Medi-Cal benefits were provided to residents of any age statewide,regardless of immigration status,who meet Medi-Cal’s financial eligibility requirements. However, effective January 1, 2026, California implemented a freeze on new enrollments of undocumented immigrants who apply for Medi-Cal.Current Medi-Cal recipients who are undocumentedwillnot be affected [by the freeze]but must continue to meet eligibility requirements upon their annual renewals."
