‘Stunning Achievement’: David Petraeus Praises US-Israeli Strike That Eliminated Khamenei — But Asks ‘Who Will Follow?’

Sean James

Feb 28th, 2026, 9:09 pm

Former U.S. Army General and CIA Director David Petraeus praised the joint Israeli-American strike that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Saturday, with Petraeus telling CNN it was a “stunning achievement.”

The retired general told Jake Tapperhe was equally as shocked by the incompetence of Iran’s theocratic regimeas he was impressed by the flawless execution of the U.S. and Israeli forces during his interview. The Ayatollah and his henchmen clearly did not anticipate a strike in broad daylight, he believed.

Petraeus said:

[It] is just a reflection of stunning arrogance on the part of the Iranian leadership. I think they really thought they were in the clear for another period of daylight because we didn’t go in the normal time —almost all of our operations begin in the early hours of the morning.

And in this case, they apparently came out and were even gathering and meeting, discussing various topics, and that’s how the Israeli precise intelligence enabled their superb military strikes — along with our military actions — to achieve this really extraordinary and truly historical achievement.

That miscalculation led to Khamenei and more than 40 other senior Iranian regime leaders being eliminatedon Saturday, Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst reported earlier in the evening.

Petraeus told Tapper the next big question is “Who will follow” Khamenei as the nation’s leader?

“The problem is that the people that usually prevail in situations like this are not the Democrats on a white horse here — you know, the George Washington figures,” he said a moment later. “These are the guys with the most guns and [who are] the most ruthless.”

His appearance on CNN came shortly after President Donald Trumpconfirmed reports that the Ayatollah was killed earlier in the day.

“Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead,” Trump declared on Truth Social.

“This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS,” Trump added.

Khamenei’s death sparked a number of large rallies from coast-to-coast in the States, including one in Los Angelesthat CNN captured. Not everyone was thrilled, though. United Nation Secretary-General António Guterres“condemned” the U.S. and Israel for the strikes on Iran during an emergency U.N. meeting in New York on Saturday.

Zohran Mamdani Slams Trump’s Iran Strike Days After Beaming Photo Op

Sean JamesFeb 28th, 2026, 2:14

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) ripped President Donald Trump’s administration for its military strikes against Iran, branding it a “catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression.”

Mamdani slammed the operation in an X post on Saturday, just two days after he met with the president in another chummy meeting that included the two smiling side-by-side at the White House. The Democratic Socialist did not call out Trump by name in his post, but he made it clear he did not support the strike.

“Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel —mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war,” Mamdani wrote. “Americans do not want this. They do not want another war in pursuit of regime change. They want relief from the affordability crisis. They want peace.”

Mamdani added he had taken “proactive steps” to make sure his city is safe, including “increasing coordination across agencies and enhancing patrols of sensitive locations.”

“Additionally,I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city— you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders,” he added.“You will be safe here.”(if you are here legally, KEK)

His criticism follows what he called a “productive meeting” with Trump on Thursday. Mamdani presented Trump with two different mock New York Daily News covers, one with the headline “Trump to City: Let’s Build” and another that read “Ford to the City: Drop Dead.” The latter was a famous Daily News cover from 1975 when then-President Gerald Ford declined to send federal money to bail out NYC.

Associated Press White House correspondent Seung Min Kim added some color to what was discussed between Trump and Mamdani, reporting, “Last time the two met, Trump asked him to return with ideas to build big things. Mamdani came back with a massive housing proposal. Mamdani’s team created mock headlines to show Trump how such a project would be received. He was ‘very enthusiastic.'”

Trump and Mamdani’s latest meeting comes after the two had a lovefest at the White House back in November. But the mayor has no love for Trump’s push to take out Iran’s theocratic regime, it appears.

Earlier on Saturday, Israel’s N12 News reported the Israeli government believes that Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is dead. Fox News reported on Saturday afternoon that has not been confirmed yet.

‘No Choice’ — US Officials Say Iran Forced Their Hand After Rebuilding Nuclear Program

3/13/26

Senior administration officials said Saturday that President Donald Trump had “no choice” but to strike Iran after the Middle East country allegedly intended to preemptively launch missiles at U.S. assets and was rebuilding its nuclear capabilities.

“The president, frankly, had no choice,” one administration official stated during a background call with reporters.

After Operation Midnight Hammer, a June 2025 strike that officials claimed “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear facilities, Iran was warned not to pursue nuclear enrichment or it would have “issues.”

However, intelligence showed that Iran was rebuilding what had been destroyed by Midnight Hammer, the officials explained. Iran was allegedly stockpiling material and looking to build centrifuges in direct violation of the United States’ warnings.

Throughout negotiations, which were mediated by Oman, U.S. officials came to believe Iran was deliberately stalling progress so Iran could continue to build up nuclear capabilities. The U.S. offered Iran “free nuclear fuel forever” and Iran responded that those terms “didn’t work for them.”

The Iranians were “looking to buy time,” the officials concluded.

The breakdown in negotiations occurred alongside the U.S. discovering that Iran planned to preemptively use conventional missiles against the United States and its assets, one senior administration official said, adding that the president would not allow U.S. forces to absorb such attacks.

Trump announced in a video message Saturday at 2:57 a.m. that the U.S. had begun striking Iran to eliminate “threats from the Iranian regime.”

“It has always been the policy of the United States, in particular, my administration, that this terrorist regime can never have a nuclear weapon. I’ll say it again, they can never have a nuclear weapon,” the president declared. “We are going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground. It will be totally again, obliterated.”

Just hours earlier, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi said in an interview with CBS News’ Margaret Brennan that a deal between the U.S. and Iran was “within our reach.”

Iran responded to the strikes by launching counterattacks on U.S. allies in the Middle East.

(A lot of those senate and house members cheering at the SoU address for PDJT are throwing criticism, hate and dirt at him today! At least he does his job, not you guys.)

‘Not What We Thought MAGA Was Supposed To Be’: America First Skeptics Blast Iran Strikes

2/28/26.1/2

Avowed advocates of the right-wing America First movement had harsh words for President Donald Trump after he announced the U.S. military struck Iran on Saturday morning, with one alleging the president betrayed his MAGA base.

Trump announced at 2:30 EST a.m. Saturday the U.S. military had launched a “massive and ongoing” attack against the Islamic theocracy, vowing in a video posted to social media to “destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground.”Hours later, former Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene — previously a staunch Trump ally and MAGA standard-bearer— posted a nearly-700-word reaction to X in which she said the president’s Operation Epic Fury “feels like the worst betrayal.”

“We said ‘No More Foreign Wars, No More Regime Change!’ We said it on rally stage after rally stage, speech after speech. Trump, [Vice President JD] Vance, basically the entire admin campaigned on it and promised to put America FIRST and Make America Great Again,” Greene began in her post.

The former lawmaker’s post includes a screenshot of a 2024 post by the Republican Party’s X account advertising Trump and Vance as “the pro-peace ticket.”

The Georgia Republican resigned from her apparently safe GOP House seat after Trump withdrew support for her, following the two Republicans’ feud over the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

“My generation has been let down, abused, and used by our government our entire adult lives and our children’s generation is literally being abandoned,” (Fuck off Greene) Greene’s post continues. “Thousands and thousands of Americans from my generation have been killed and injured in never ending pointless foreign wars and we said no more. But we are freeing the Iranian people. Please.”

The ex-congresswoman claimed the assertion“Iran is on the verge of having nuclear weapons” is “always a lie and it’s always America Last.

“But it feels like the worst betrayal this time because it comes from the very man and the admin who we all believed was different and said no more,” she added. “We thought the victory won in 2024 would be finally time to put America First. And we thought that meant the common American man and woman and their children. Not the elites. America has suffered and they don’t even care.”

“Now, America is going to be force fed and gas lighted all the ‘noble’ reasons the American ‘Peace’ President and Pro-Peace administration had to go to war once again this year, after being in power for only a year. Head-spinning, but maga,” Greene concluded.

In a post from her separate, personal X account sent less than a half hour later, Greene wrote, “I did not campaign for this. I did not donate money for this. I did not vote for this, in elections or Congress. This is heartbreaking and tragic.”

‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’ is an idiom that is adapted from a line in William Congreve’s play, The Mourning Bride (1697). The line from which it came is ‘Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, nor hell a fury like a woman scorned.”

The post includes a video showing a building burning as people gathered outside are heard shouted. The video’s caption alleges “US-Israel strikes” hit an Iranian girls school, killing dozens of children — a report appearing to have originated from the Iranian government, according to France 24.

“And how many more innocent will die? What about our own military? This is not what we thought MAGA was supposed to be. Shame!” she added.

Greene’s longtime congressional ally, Republican Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, wrote Saturday morning on X, “I am opposed to this War. This is not ‘America First.'”

The Kentucky Republican added that as soon as Congress meets again, he will work with Democratic California Rep. Ro Khanna — with whom he co-sponsored the Epstein Files Transparency Act —“to force a Congressional vote on war with Iran.”

“The Constitution requires a vote, and your Representative needs to be on record as opposing or supporting this war,” Massie stressed.

Massie is a libertarian-leaning congressman whom Trump endorsed against in Kentucky’s May 19 GOP House primary. He is known for often breaking with the president and the Republican party on key House votes.

Massie’s comments mark a stark contrast from his Trump-backed challenger, former Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein.

“Today’s action is also about deterrence. When America is strong, our enemies are deterred and the world is safer,” Gallrein said in a statement sent to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Tucker Carlson, meanwhile, called Trump’s Iran operation “absolutely disgusting and evil,” ABC News’s Jonathan Karl reported in a video posted Saturday morning to X.

Karl notes in the video Carlson was at Trump’s White House just a week earlier, and remains an influential figure in Trump’s movement.

“This is a momentous and potentially defining or maybe redefining move for President Trump,” the ABC News anchor added. “He got in to politics promising to end what he called ‘forever wars.'”

“He [Trump] was harshly critical of the war with Iraq,” Karl pointed out. “He claimed that he had always been against it. And now he finds himself starting what could be a major conflict with Iran.”

The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had been tracking Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for months, gathering detailed intelligence on his movements and patterns, multiple sources familiar with the operation told The New York Times.

Officials say the agency gained increasing confidence about Khamenei's locations.

Then, the intelligence community learned that a meeting of top Iranian officials would take place on Saturday (February 28)morning at a leadership compound in central Tehran.“Most critically, the C.I.A. learned that the supreme leader would be at the site,”said a source familiar with the intelligence.

The new information prompted the United States and Israel to adjust the timing of a planned strike.“The information provided a window of opportunity for the two countries to achieve a critical and early victory: the elimination of top Iranian officials and the killing of Ayatollah Khamenei,” according to officials with knowledge of the decisions.

The C.I.A. passed intelligence offering “high fidelity” on Khamenei’s position to Israel, enabling precise operational planning, sources said.

Israel, relying on both U.S. intelligence and its own, executed an operation that had been under planning for months, aimed at the targeted killing of Iran’s senior leaders. Initially, the strike had been planned under the cover of night, but the timing was shifted to exploit the intelligence about the Saturday morning gathering.

The compound targeted houses offices of the Iranian presidency, the supreme leader, and the National Security Council.Israeli intelligence had determined that the gathering would include top Iranian defense officials, among them: Mohammad Pakpour, commander in chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps; Aziz Nasirzadeh, defense minister; Admiral Ali Shamkhani, head of the Military Council; Seyyed Majid Mousavi, commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force; and Mohammad Shirazi, deputy intelligence minister. (At least Israel didn’t make it up or lie this time.)

“The operation began around 6 a.m. in Israel, as fighter jets took off from their bases,” sources said. The strike involved a relatively small number of aircraft, equipped with long-range, highly accurate munitions.

Two hours and five minutes after takeoff, at approximately 9:40 a.m.Tehran time, long-range missiles struck the compound. “At the time of the strike, senior Iranian national security officials were in one building at the compound. Mr. Khamenei was in another nearby building,” officials said.

Reminder what they did to Trump for years: Oldie but Goodie, anons may want to save this. They all do and still do it today!

Hidden Camera Catches CNN Producer Saying Trump ‘Probably Right’ About Russia ‘Witch Hunt’ June 17, 2017

A video released Tuesday by James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas shows a CNN producer speaking candidly about the network’s coverage of President Trump and Russia.

In the hidden camera video, John Bonifield, a supervising producer at CNN Health, talks about how CNN uses the Trump-Russia allegations to boost ratings and how directions to focus on it have come from CNN’s CEO Jeff Zucker.

When asked by the Project Veritas reporter, “But honestly, you think the whole Russia shit is just like, bullshit?” Bonifield replies, “Could be bullshit. I mean, it’s mostly bullshit right now. Like we, don’t have any big giant proof.”

“I just feel like they don’t really have it but they want to keep digging. And so I think the president is probably right to say, like, look, you are witch hunting me. Like, you have no smoking gun, you have no real proof,” he adds.

Bonifield also reveals that CNN’s CEO, Jeff Zucker was giving directions on coverage, encouraging CNN to focus on the Russia story.

“Just to give you some context, President Trump pulled out of the climate accords and for a day and a half we covered the climate accords. And the CEO of CNN (Jeff Zucker) said in our internal meeting, he said good job everybody covering the climate accords, but we’re done with that, let’s get back to Russia.”

At another point, the Project Veritas journalist asks, “Then why is CNN constantly like, Russia this, Russia that?”

Because it’s ratings,” Bonifield answers.

“It’s a business, people are like the media has an ethical phssssss…All the nice cutesy little ethics that used to get talked about in journalism school you’re just like, that’s adorable. That’s adorable. This is a business,” Bonifield also says.

“Trump is good for business right now.”

This Project Veritas report comes after CNN saw three employees resign for helping to push a story that a member of Trump’s transition team was under investigation, which was later debunked.

American Pravda: CNN Producer Says Russia Narrative “bullsh*t"8 years ago

In the recent video footage obtained by Project Veritas, John Bonifield a Sr. Producer at CNN, admits to several beliefs that are in direct conflict with the official CNN narrative that Trump has colluded with Russia, and that Russia has interfered with the 2016 election. Bonifield expresses clear doubts that there is a fire behind the Russia smoke, stating, “I haven’t seen any good enough evidence to show that the President committed a crime.” He also confirms suspicions that CNN staff is ideologically biased against Trump, stating, “I know a lot of people don’t like him and they’d like to see him get kicked out of office…”

Bonifield even further confirms CNN’s bias against the President, stating, “I think the President is probably right to say, like, look you are witch hunting me…you have no real proof.”

Bonifield exposes that Russia has been great for CNN’s ratings, and that orders from CEO Jeff Zucker himself have directed CNN to pursue Russia leads at the expense of other stories. Bonifield states “And the CEO of CNN said in our internal meeting, he said ‘good job everybody covering the Climate Accords, but we’re done with it let’s get back to Russia.’”

He further comments on Russia, “it’s mostly bullshit right now. Like, we don’t have any giant proof…if it was something really good, it’d leak.”

How Rubio Prepared Congress For US Campaign Against Iran

2/27/26.1/2

Secretary of State Marco Rubio was preparing Congress for the administration’s attack on Iran in the days leading up to the strikes, a State Department official explained to the Daily Caller.

President Donald Trump announced via video message at 2:57 AM on Saturday that his administration had begun to strike Iran in order to eliminate imminent “threats from the Iranian regime.” Ahead of the attacks, Rubio consulted with the “Gang of Eight” in an hour long briefing Tuesday, a State Department official told the Caller.

The Gang of Eight consists of both Republican and Democratic leaders in Congress who are briefed on classified matters by the executive branch.

Rubio was able to connect with seven of the eight members, as one was unreachable, the official added. The Department of War also provided notifications to Armed Services Committees early this morning after strikes had commenced, the official told the Caller.

Rubio is currently in Mar-a-Lago with the president, the official added.

Some members of the Gang of Eight issued statements Saturday morning following the strikes.

Democratic Connecticut Rep. Jim Himes, the ranking member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said the administration has entered a “war of choice with no strategic endgame.”

“As I expressed to Secretary Rubio when he briefed the Gang of Eight, military action in the region almost never ends well for the United States, and conflict with Iran can easily spiral and escalate in ways we cannot anticipate,” Himes added.

Democratic Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, the Senate Select Committee Vice Chairman, stated “The president owes the country clear answers: What is the objective? What is the strategy to prevent escalation? And how does this make Americans safer?”

Speaker Mike Johnson struck a more optimistic tone, writing on X, “Today, Iran is facing the severe consequences of its evil actions. President Trump and the Administration have made every effort to pursue peaceful and diplomatic solutions in response to the Iranian regime’s sustained nuclear ambitions and development, terrorism, and the murder of Americans—and even their own people.”

The White House and the Department of War referred the Caller to the president’s video message for insight on his thought process behind the attack.

The president said in his message that Iran “rejected every opportunity to renounce theirnuclear ambitions.” He called the Islamic Revolutionary Guard and the armed forces to lay down their weapons in order to have complete immunity.

“It has always been the policy of the United States, in particular, my administration, that this terrorist regime can never have a nuclear weapon. I’ll say it again, they can never have a nuclear weapon,” the president said in his message.

“We are going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground. It will be totally again, obliterated. We’re going to annihilate their navy,” Trump continued.

“We’re going to ensure that the region’s terrorist proxies can no longer destabilize the region or the world and attack our forces and no longer use their IEDs or roadside bombs, as they are sometimes called, to so gravely wound and kill 1000s and 1000s of people, including many Americans. And we will ensure that Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon. It’s a very simple message,” he added.

Trump opened up more on his thought process behind the attacks in a call with The Washington Post early Saturday morning.

He told the outlet his main concern is “freedom” for the Iranian people, and added that his administration is “is working to make Iran a place that’s ‘safe.'”

In his video message, Trump encouraged the Iranian people to stay inside until the attacks were over and then work to take over the government.

“When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will be probably your only chance for generations. For many years, you have asked for America’s help, but you never got it. No president was willing to do what I am willing to do tonight,” Trump said.

Just days before the attack, Department of War press secretary Kingsley Wilson explained the game plan in Iran to the Caller. “We’ve got a lot of assets over there, a lot of aircraft over there, and we’re going to make sure that the Iranian people know we mean business, and the regime and the mullahs there particularly, know we mean business. They remember Midnight Hammer and the success of that operation. They also, like the rest of the world and our enemies, watched the Maduro raid,” Wilson told the Caller.

“They see what the United States military, and only the United States military is capable of doing so, it would be very wise for them to make a deal with this president. And I would also add that the president has been clear, whether on the campaign trail or throughout his entire presidency, that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. That is a red line, and we at the Department of War are in full support of that initiative,” Wilson concluded.

A State Department official confirmed to the Caller that they have set up a task force to assist American citizens in the Middle East and support diplomatic efforts in the region.

All of those gang of 8, know specifically how many times they wanted to kill Trump on American soil. How the country’s goal is to blow up all major cities, and the also know Iranian terrorists crossed into America when Bidan opened the border for close to 4 years. And they still don’t get why it’s necessary, because they don’t mind if Trump is assassinated.

Democrats No Longer In Lockstep Before Midterms, Spelling Potential Disaster For Party2/27/26

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) unveiled its initial slate of “Red to Blue” endorsements, which immediately sparked a civil war within the party.

The DCCC’s endorsements are intended to spotlight top-tier Democratic challengers in Republican-held House districts. However, the party’s choice of candidates ignited a firestorm of backlash from Democratic primary challengers who were spurned. While this is entertaining for the right, more importantly, it’s a glaring symptom of a growing Democrat dysfunction that could potentially hand the GOP the momentum needed to gain in the 2026 midterms…
