Afghan forces have suffered nearly 1,000 casualties in the latest cross-border escalation with Pakistan, officials in Islamabad have claimed.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said at least 415 Taliban fighters and allied militants had been killed and more than 580 wounded in airstrikes and clashes since Thursday. He shared the figures in a post on X on Saturday.

The minister also claimed 182 Afghan checkpoints had been destroyed, along with 185 tanks, armored vehicles and artillery pieces, with airstrikes targeting 46 locations across the country.

Kabul has not commented on the figures cited by Tarar. Afghan government spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat claimed on Saturday that three days of border clashes had left 78 dead, including 12 Pakistani soldiers and one civilian, and 13 Afghan soldiers plus 52 Afghan civilians, mostly women and children. Casualties were reported in Paktika, Khost, Kunar, Nangarhar, and Kandahar provinces, he said in separate statements on X.

Neither side’s figures could be independently verified.

Pakistan launched heavy fire and airstrikes at its western neighbor early on Friday, in response to Afghan Taliban forces firing at Pakistani border positions the day before and killing two soldiers.

Kabul described the cross-border fire as “retaliatory operations” following Pakistani airstrikes last Sunday. Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif later termed the escalation an “open war,” accusing the Afghan Taliban government of “exporting terrorism.”

Relations between the neighbors have steadily deteriorated since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021 after the US withdrawal. Not only is Israel's airspace closed, as Iranian retaliatory ballistic missiles rain down, but much of the Gulf nations have restrictions and airspace closures in place. This after at least two regional airports have been struck.

"One person has been killed and 11 injured at airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as Iran launched attacks across the Middle East in response to a massive and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel," BBC reports.

Abu Dhabi authorities said a drone targeting Zayed International Airport (AUH) was intercepted, resulting in "falling debris" which killed one person and injuring seven.

Dubai International Airport, one of the busiest hubs in the world, has also been hit and suffered damage. So it's not just the skies over the region which are dangerous at this moment, but in some cases the very airport terminals, especially if located just across the Persian Gulf from Iran, amid its broader retaliation targeting US bases and those Arab states hosting them. The Iranians appear to be going straight after Gulf civic infrastructure, given the same is being done to Tehran.

"More than 3,400 flights were canceled Sunday across seven airports in the Mideast, according to flight tracker Flightradar24," AP notes. "Airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar’s capital, Doha, and Manama in Bahrain were among those closed."

Israel reportedly co-opted a popular Iranian prayer app Saturday to send mass notifications urging defections from the Islamic regime.

The BadeSaba Calendar app, utilizing its extensive reach inside Iran, helps users track daily prayer times and religious observances, the Wall Street Journal reported. It has logged more than 5 million downloads on the Google Play Store alone, giving operators access to a vast domestic audience.

Screenshots posted on social media show a burst of Persian-language notifications declaring “help has arrived.” The cyber operation apparently took place as Israel and the United States launched a sweeping waves of strikes against Iranian military and leadership targets, ultimately resulting in the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

One of the push notifications reportedly targeted members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and regular army, urging them to abandon their posts.

Intelligence analysts view the breach as a calculated psychological operation, according to the outlet. Greg Abbott Challenger's Campaign Aide Killed In Apparent Murder Less Than One Week Before Election

One person is in custody today after the shooting death of Brandon "James" Petree, of Killeen, Texas.

Petree was a campaign aide of "Doc" Pete Chambers.

The Killeen Police Department, which announced on Thursday that it was investigating the shooting that resulted in the death of Brandon James Petree, called the shooting a murder.

While no charges have been filed, KPD has detained a person in the shooting. That person is still in the city jail.

Wednesday, February 25 at around 10:20 PM, KPD officers were called about a shooting off Splawn Ranch Road and Zayden Drive in Killeen.

When officers got to the scene, they found Petree shot and unconscious in a nearby field. Petree died on scene, according to the KPD.

KPD reports that a 9-1-1 caller shared hearing arguing followed by multiple gunshots. KPD says one person has been detained in connection with this shooting.

Howard Lutnick Exposed for Even More Lies About His Epstein Ties

The commerce secretary said he cut off contact in 2005. Emails in the Epstein files show otherwise.

Newly reported components of the Epstein files reveal that Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick was much more involved with Jeffrey Epstein than he had previously let on.

Last year, in an interview on the New York Post’s Pod Force One podcast, Lutnick claimed he cut off all contact with “that disgusting person” after he and his wife were invited to tour Epstein’s Upper East Side townhouse in 2005. Epstein was, at the time, the Lutnicks’ Manhattan neighbor.

But previously unreported elements of the Epstein files reveal that the two men shared mutual involvement in a business venture until at least 2018, the year before Epstein was found dead in his jail cell.

That business was AdFin Solutions Inc., a since-shuttered digital ad technology company that both Epstein and Lutnick invested with in 2012, days after Lutnick visited the pedophile’s island with his family in tow.

Lutnick signed the contract via an LLC held by Cantor Fitzgerald, where Lutnick was employed as the chief executive officer, according to a British whistleblower and former affiliate of Cantor Fitzgerald who spoke with Mother Jones.

Since the files became public, the MAGA strategist has attempted to distance himself from Epstein, and by extension AdFin.

A Department of Commerce spokesperson told CBS News that Lutnick “had limited interactions with Mr. Epstein.” A source close to the secretary claimed that Cantor was a “minority investor” in AdFin and that Lutnick did “not have any knowledge of who the other investors were” at “the time of doing the deal.”

But that is incredibly unlikely. Lutnick would ultimately become a significant figure for AdFin, a detail that has raised doubts about his supposed ignorance about the company’s long-term investors.

An email dated May 28, 2018, further solidifies that Lutnick was well aware that Epstein had remained involved with the venture. The message, between Epstein and a recipient referred to as “HWL” (Lutnick’s middle name is “William”), discusses potential revenue growth for the blustering company.

Epstein asked HWL, “What do you think the prospects for adfin are?”

HWL’s reply, marked as “the sole property of Cantor Fitzgerald LP and its affiliates,” suggested that the company could be “producing revenue finally.”

“This is their year,” HWL wrote to Epstein. “Next 12 months they need to become economically self-sufficient.”

Despite the mounting evidence, Lutnick vehemently denied his widely reported connections to Epstein during a congressional hearing earlier this month.

Nine Israelis killed, 11 missing, dozens injured after Iranian missile hits Beit Shemesh building

An Iranian ballistic missile impact killed nine people and wounded over 45 people, including several children, in the Beit Shemesh area, west of Jerusalem, in the Islamic regime's latest missile barrage launched at Israel on Sunday.

At least four apartment buildings were destroyed in the attack, Israeli media reported, adding that the Iranian missile reportedly penetrated through a shelter in the vicinity.

Some 30 ambulances from Magen David Adom were dispatched to the scene, while the IDF said that Home Front Command Search and Rescue teams, combined with numerous medical forces and a helicopter to evacuate the wounded, were operating at the scene.

Israel Police later updated that 11 people have been reported as missing, though added that search and rescue effeorts remain ongoing.

Hadassah-University Medical Center said that 18 of the wounded, including three children, were evacuated to its campus in Ein Kerem. Another 17, including four children, were evacuated to its campus on Mount Scopus.

The IDF also said that the early warning system functioned as planned and was activated in the impact area, while the situation was being investigated.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir visited the Beit Shemesh impact site on Sunday evening, according to United Hatzalah.

Belgium And France Conduct Special Operation To Seize Tanker Allegedly Linked To Russia’s “Shadow Fleet”

On the night of March 1, 2026, the combined forces of Belgium and France conducted a special operation to detain the oil tanker Ethera, which, according to Brussels, is part of Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet.” The vessel, sailing under the flag of Guinea, was taken under military control in the North Sea at the exit from the English Channel and is currently being escorted to the Belgian port of Zeebrugge.

The operation, named Blue Intruder, was carried out by the Belgian armed forces with direct support from the French Ministry of Defense. French President Emmanuel Macron released a video of the operation showing two helicopters approaching the ship, after which a capture team landed on the deck.

Speaking to the press, Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken made several harsh statements directed at Russia. He emphasized that without the functioning “shadow fleet,” which he claims is used to transport oil while circumventing sanctions, Russian President Vladimir Putin “cannot wage war.” The minister outlined Brussels’ strategy: to disable such vessels one by one. He also noted that Belgium, as a founding state of NATO and the European Union, “takes its responsibility” regarding compliance with international restrictions and maritime security seriously.

The Russian Embassy in Belgium reported that it has not received any official notification from the Belgian authorities regarding the fact and reasons for the tanker’s detention. Diplomats were also not provided with any information about the national composition of its crew. Currently, the Embassy is taking necessary steps to ascertain whether Russian citizens are on board, as well as to ensure their legal rights if this is confirmed.

This incident continues a chain of consistently increasing pressure on shipping that Western countries associate with Russia. Previously, on February 22, the French stopped the tanker Grinch in the Mediterranean Sea. However, back then, the vessel was only given a significant fine, after paying which it left French waters.

Furthermore, Belgian authorities had previously stated that they had counted over 500 “shadow” vessels with opaque jurisdictions, dozens of which have passed through the North Sea and the Belgian zone of responsibility. They now plan to declare them “de facto stateless” and thus gain the right to search and detain them. Europeans continue to use a new method of warfare against Russia — the forceful detention of tankers under the pretext of combating the “shadow fleet.”
